Change leads to conflict. When defined, change means to “make or become different.” With conflict there is always change, no matter the circumstance. Change causes conflict because one, change can be viewed as positive or negative, and two, change is unpredictable. This is shown throughout the play, The “Diary of Anne Frank”, and the short story reading, “The Lottery.”

Change leads to conflict because it may be seen as positive or negative . This is shown in the play, the Diary of Anne Frank. In the play, Mr. Frank reads a diary entry from his daughters journal after the rest of the family perished in the concentration camp. In other words, Annes positive view towards the nazis caused conflict between Mr. Frank and Anne, even after Anne has died.This shows conflict between Anne and Mr.Frank because Mr. Franks knows that his daughter thinks that everyone is good in the world, despite being murdered. This puts him in an even higher state of distress thus causing conflict. This is also shown, when Anne is excited about living in the “Secret Annex”. On page 290 Anne compares the secret annex to a “very peculiar summer boarding house” . Anne views the change from amsterdam to the secret annex as positive while all of the other individuals view it as negative.
