You cannot talk about the history of mathematics, without mentioning the honorable Sir Isaac Newton. Perhaps one the greatest scientists of the past, Newton has made significant contributions to the fields of mechanics, optics, and mathematics. Before becoming one of the greatest minds of the 18th century, there were some challenges to Newton’s life.
Sir Isaac Newton was born on the 25th of December, 1642. He was born prematurely. Newton was named after his father, Isaac Newton, whom he never knew. His father passed away three months before Newton was born. Newton’s mother remarried when Newton was three years old. Isaac Newton didn’t have the greatest of relationships with his step-father.
From the age of twelve, Newton had a strong interest in learning and education. He was educated at The King’s School in Grantham, England, where he found his love for …show more content…

He concluded his work on optics by explaining that a refracting lens of a telescope would disperse the light into multiple colors. To prove this, Newton developed his own telescope using mirrors instead of using the traditional telescope lens. This was the first telescope of its kind and is known as the Newtonian …show more content…

It was not until 1679, that Isaac Newton continued his research and study on mechanics. He studied gravitation and the effect gravity has on planetary motion. Using Kepler’s Laws as reference, Newton developed his own theory. This theory is known today as Newton’s Law of Universal Gravitation. Newton’s law of universal gravitation states that every particle uses a force. This force is proportional to the mass of the product, and is inversely proportionate to the distance between the centers of each particle. Through his findings, Newton published Principia on the 5th of July, 1687. In Principia, Isaac Newton stated his laws of motion for the first
