Balancing the Chakra Energies Can Be Beneficial The word Chakra is an ancient term referring to the spinning vortexes of our body’s natural energy system. The word chakra actually means ‘wheel’ in Sanskrit. Visually, the chakra resembles a cone which is pointing towards the body. The energy from a chakra is being radiated through an expanding spiral. There are seven primary chakras and hundreds, if not thousands, of smaller ones, each linked to a specific part of the human body. The chakras work as conductors of energy and each one has a unique frequency. The base chakra has the lowest frequency and the crown chakra has the highest frequency. When all seven primary chakras are balanced (i.e. open and spinning), energy flows freely through the body and helps us to function on a physical, emotional and mental level. The balancing of the blocked and unblocked Chakra energy flow can be beneficial to one’s health. What is a blocked or unbalanced chakra? A chakra is unbalanced either when the energy is either going through it too fast or too slowly. The energy can even have stopped flowing through it altogether. Learning how to be aware of each chakra, its location and its function can help to open, balance and energise each chakra and thereby help each of them to function well. There are several ways a person can know if a Chakra is blocked. …show more content…
Several forms of repression can also cause chakral blockage, for example, someone who adopts a rigid belief system and requires constant energy to be applied in order to minimize questioning, could have the crown chakra blocked. A blocked chakra can make it harder for you to develop your psychic (or parapsychic) ability. The more unblocked your chakras are, the easier it will be for you to develop clairvoyance or to have lucid projections (out-of-body experiences) at
Time does not exist; love is eternal; death brings peace. Siddhartha illustrates each of these themes in the novel, Siddhartha. Throughout his life, Siddhartha is very independent. For example, Siddhartha demonstrates self-determination when he leaves his overbearing father “to begin the life of the Samanas” (Hesse 10). There, he escapes from the physical world to soon realize that enlightenment cannot come from ignoring the world around him. He decides to follow the Buddha and learn his teachings; however, he is unsuccessful. As Siddhartha goes through his unaccompanied journey towards Enlightenment, he comes to realize that he must let his loved ones go and “that each man must find the way by himself” (Malthaner 3). Foolishly, he falls for a young prostitute named Kamala; once they grow old the love dies and Siddhartha leaves. Siddhartha comprehends the fact that in order to grasp Enlightenment, one must love everything rather than possess individualistic love. After leaving Kamala, Siddhartha falls into depression. At this time he feels empty and saddened by what he perceives to be wasted time. Upon reaching a river, he leans in to take his life. Suddenly, the holy “om” brings him to his senses, and he remembers that Enlightenment is more important than death. Furthermore, he recognizes that time does not exist, and that he must become completely empty to start a new life—this concept plays in to the theme “mortality”. Kamala later returns to Siddhartha’s life by coincidence; she gets bitten by a deadly snake and passes away. Surprisingly, Siddhartha’s heart does not feel sorrow. Instead, Siddhartha feels peaceful knowing that she has reached Enlightenment, and that she will come back in a new life. In the novel, Siddhartha by ...
Yoga is a discipline both involving physical and mental control that originated in India. The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word, "yug", meaning union and it means the joining of the individual spirit with the universal spirit. The type of yoga known as Hatha Yoga, ("Ha"- sun, "tha"-moon) is what is most commonly practiced and this yoga involves the path of the mind and body and is the most physical. There are eight limbs or steps of Hatha Yoga, the first step being the five Yamas. There are five yamas and these concern your behavior to the world.
Now that the chakras have become New Age parlance, there are many interpretations of their meaning and function being bandied about. While this popularity is making the chakras a household word, it is also spreading a lot of confusing, conflicting, and often erroneous information. It is important to realize the chakras come from an ancient tradition, which many New Age teachers have barely explored. Here is a brief summary of the development of the chakras historically.
Western medicine has recently discovered the powerful affects of meditation, by allowing doctors to treat the body and the mind. In reality, the mind is a very misunderstood and unexplored region of the human existence. Modern science knows more about the composition of the earth than it does about the mechanics of the human brain. Yet, meditation thwarts all notions of modern medicine with its shocking ability to to take obscure visualizations and create physical responses in the body. Mahayana Buddhism, found mainly in the autonomous region of Tibet, has become the main reference and standard for meditation practices in the west. Tibetans have used meditation for centuries as treatment for illness, and now, modern medicine of the western world is just beginning to reap the benefits of this unique and unconventional treatment for a variety of physical and mental ailments. Once a practice reserved strictly for Buddhist monks, meditation has become a worldwide phenomenon. Simply enter “Buddhist meditation” into the any Inter...
Energy constantly flows up and down these pathways. When pathways become obstructed, deficient, excessive, or just unbalanced, Yin and Yang are said to be thrown out of balance. This causes illness. Acupuncture is said to restore the balance.
Alternative medicines have constructed many theories to determine the impact of vitalism on the body. A few of the best-known theories are bioenergetic fields and the subsets of this category. This means that humans are surrounded by a field of energy, as proposed by Mesmer in his theories. These are called the human “aura” (Patterson,1998). Each organ in the body has an electromagnetic frequency, a factor used by alternative healers to direct their specific treatment modality. When illness occurs, it is because of a struggle between positive and negative electromagnetic waves inside the body (Stenger, 1999). Alternative practitioners claim “that they can affect cures for many ills by ‘manipulating’ this field, thereby bringing the body’s ‘live energies’ into balance” (Stenger, 1999).
The claim is that they are made to access the “fourteen meridians” of the body. It also makes mention of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the effects that has on the human body as opposed to modern medicine. Throughout the entirety of the Q-Ray website, there is no solid mention of what the bracelet actually contains that will aid in health and wellness. The company suggests that the bracelet has the same effect as acupuncture if worn correctly. Since there is no solid explanation of what the bracelet contains, the hypothesis that it will aid in all areas of the body’s wellbeing cannot be proved. There is not substantial scientific evidence to make the claims that it will access supposed meridians that allow the body to harness “natural energy.”
Reflexology is the theory that the human body can be healed from disease or imbalance through pressure to specific points on the hands, feet, and ears (http://www.doubleclickd.com/reflexology.html). This alternative form of healing is doubted by many, although there are studies that support its theory.
Reiki is a Japanese form of healing that is becoming increasingly popular worldwide. According to the account that has been handed down among reiki teachers, Usui a Japanese scholar of religion was a Christian who was fascinated by the idea that Christ could heal ailing individuals with just the touch of his hands. What makes Reiki unique is that it incorporates elements of just about every other alternative healing practices such as spiritual healing, auras, crystals, chakra balancing, meditation, aromatherapy, naturopathy, and homeopathy. Reiki involves the transfer of energy from practitioner to patient to enhance the body's natural ability to heal itself through the balancing of energy.
Each chakra can be under-active or overactive. An overactive root chakra can make a person feel nervous, ungrounded, fearful, or insecure. Moreover, it makes him resistant to change, and greedy or materialistic. On the other hand, an under-active root chakra can cause codependence, fear of abandonment, feeling of lack of security, and inability to get into a person’s body.
TCM believes that all life sources, also called Qi, must flow freely through channels that travel throughout our bodies on twelve separate pathways. These pathways are called meridians and all organs and tissues functions are connected to the more than 300 various points called acupoints which lie on these meridians (Acupuncture, n.d.), (Meridians, n.d). If there is a disturbance in a body function there is a specific point(s) on the meridian(s) that corresponds to the the problem area. These disturbances are caused by a blocked flow of ...

Jainism is another religion that I am not too familiar with. There are many Jains in our school, and I believe I actually signed up for a club about Jainism earlier this semester, yet I have still not learned anything about this religion until I started this research. Learning about these religions have helped provide me a new perspective and a better appreciation for what these faiths teach, and Jainism has been no exception. By further studying this religion, I have learned key values that I can apply to my life.

This week’s analysis is associated with the yoga class provided online to help with stress reduction. The first term that I came across was psychophysiology and how this principle is based on the mind and body being one and how our thinking affects all physiology. This principle was the perfect definition of yoga because yoga focuses on how the mind and body connects with each other. It gives you a sense of relaxation throughout your mind and body together. Furthermore, the yoga that was in the video was a yoga style called hatha. Which practices asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises). According to the book, this practices helps bring peace to the mind and body and prepare our body to do deeper exercises. The art of breathing was mentioned during the exercise and in the book. Breathing is very important when trying to unite the mind, body, and spirit. So, having slow, deep breathes was a main focused during the exercise. Another term that was used in the video was the art of stretching, which allows us to become aware of our flexibility of our muscle while moving. Lastly, the art of balance is significant because it allows us to move into the next form of position on both sides of our body. Some of the workouts pose that was mention in the textbook that I did was two knees to the chest, cobra, and head of cow. Overall, hatha
