Centura Health and Change Centura Health is the largest hospital based not-for-profit healthcare system in their region. This includes 15 hospitals, Fight for Life, Centura Health at Home, and over 100 physician practices (Centura Health, 2014a). Due to the size and reach of the Centura Health network change should be a normal occurrence. Each one of the Centura Health neighborhoods is going to require different specialties. Also, some of the neighborhoods are growing and changing requiring new specialties and a larger amount of providers. The PPACA has turned to healthcare field upside-down. This is due to the new laws and regulations that were put in place. Some of the changes occurring due to the PPACA include increasing access to care, a revised pay structure, increasing technologies, and creating a healthcare system that is safer for Americans (Harrington, 2010). These requirement and new laws made Centura Health look at their policies and the way they are providing care. Centura Health used these requirements and laws to create a new strategy they labeled the 2020 Centura Health Strategy. This strategy is creating major changes throughout every one of Centura Health’s facilities. The 2020 Centura Health strategy is calling for an updated way to care for those in their communities. One of these updates includes changing the way people are using the healthcare system. Centura Health is beginning to focus on the health of their consumers (Centura Executives, 2009). This is a large difference from the past. In the past health care providers focused on the sickness care. Sickness care is focusing on the consumer only when they become ill or injured. This created a large faith based not-for profit hospital system in Colorado. It has since grown to be the largest system in Colorado and continually expanding to include hospital in western Kansas, provider’s offices, home health care, and Flight for Life. As can be seen this was a successful change to combine two systems and create one large system that can help a large portion of the communities in
