Romeo, Juliet, Friar Lawrence, Lord Capulet, Tybalt, Lady Capulet, The Nurse, and Paris. These are all the people that had a part in Romeo and Juliet’s death. All of these people hurt Romeo or Juliet in some kind of way, whether it was keeping a secret from them or making a bad decision or just being impulsive. These don’t sound like things that would cause Romeo and Juliet’s death but with all of them put together they can make a big impact. That means that even though they committed suicide it wasn’t all their fault. All of these people didn’t just harm Romeo and Juliet physically but emotionally. Friar lawrence never realized how badly their plan could end if one of the smallest details went wrong. In this case one of the small details did go wrong and that was Romeo not receiving the letter. In the text Friar Lawrence stated “Shall Romeo by my letters know our drift; And hither shall he come : and he and I Will watch thy walking, and that very night Shall Romeo bear thee hencee to Mantua. And this shall free thee from this present shame,” (IV.i.116-120). All the adults in the play made choices based on what they thought would help them the most, not what would help Romeo and Juliet. For example, the nurse told Juliet to go to Friar Lawrence’s cell to get married. Friar Lawrence and the nurse both knew about the marriage but never told anybody about it and because of this the secret caused harm to both of the families. In the play the nurse says “Then hie you hence to Friar Lawrence’ cell; There stas a husband to make you a wife: Now comes the wanton blood up n your cheeks” (ii.v.73-75). She is telling Juliet to go and get married even though she knew Romeo and Juliet just met the night before. The nurse was in on the plan that Romeo and Juliet would get married and encouraged it. Any adult that is responsible and wants to help kids make the best decisions possible would not let Romeo and Juliet get married after meeting only once. The nurse didn’t think through the emotional toll that this marriage would take on Juliet and her family if they found out. Another example of the adults in the play not making responsible choices is when Friar Lawrence came up with the plan to fake Juliet’s death by giving her the vile. In the play Friar Lawrence said to Juliet “Hold, daughter: I do spy a kind of hope, Which craves as desperate an execution As that is desperate which we would prevent. If, rather marry county Paris, thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself,
