High school is stressful enough with tests, homework, and social pressure. Throw in the rollercoaster of an unnecessary emotional, and usually physical, relationships, what’s to stop a teen from dreading their whole high school career? Everyday adolescents see the drama caused from premature relationships and the consequences to being irresponsible in those relationships. In a relationship, your significant other can make you feel terrible for not talking to them 24/7, even if you are trying to keep up with homework or other responsibilities. As a result, students can fall behind in school, because of their guilt of consistently staying in contact with their boyfriend or girlfriend. Additionally, students in controlling relationships feel the stress of taking care of a needy, codependent partner. Always needing to make sure their partners needs and emotions are balanced, and making sure they are making them happy can be a struggle.
