As a art major in my early art classes we got to study a lot of Catholic Churches, I always found interesting how they used to have amazing paintings and statues. Although I learned in class, that these artworks were use as effort from the Catholic Church to communicate to those that were illiterate on the early ages were learning how to write and read was a privilege or a trade. Every time I pass through Catholic Church I’ve been intrigued by the Jesus in the cross. That’s why for this project I did some research and I decided to assist to the Good Friday service at the local Catholic Church. People looked sad and wearing black. I thought that this would be a regular mass, then Ms luz told me that we were about to go on a procession. I was a little confused as we were going towards the street in front of the church. We left after the father and all the helpers left first this is done as a way of respect to hierarchy at the church. Outside the church there where big wood crosses laying on the floor. I saw how people including women and young people took part of the cross and proceeded to carry it. As they were carrying it they started to pray and some of them started to cry as they were praying. It took me a while to understand that the procession was to resemblance the same way of how Jesus Christ got to the crucifixion. As we were going they made stops and started to recite a part, of the crucifixion passage, I Asked Ms Luz about this and she told me that it was like a sort of rosary (the bead and crucifix chain) but instead of doing it praying it like that, on this day we will be praying it out loud and revive the story.
