Today I am going to be talking about the life of Catherine the great. She was also known as Yekaterina Alexeevna. She was famous of Empress of Russia. Catherine’s nationality was Russian. The day she was born May 2, 1729. She died at the age of 67. Her zodiac sign is Taurus. She was born in Szczecin, Poland May 2. Her father’s name is Christian August, Prince of Anhalt-Zerbst. Her mother’s name is Johanna Elisabeth of Holstein-Gottorp. Her siblings were Auguste Von Anhalt-Zerbst, Elisabeth Von Anhalt-Zerbst, Friedrich August Von Anhalt-Zerbst, and Wilhelm Christian Friedrich Von Anhalt-Zerbst. The period of her reign was known as Russia’s Golden Age. She became the empress and ruled over Russia in what came to be known as the Catherinian era. Catherine had around 12 lovers during her whole life. She also believed in absolute rule. Russia expanded its border during Catherine’s reign. Gregory was a war hero and he became one of Catherine’s trusted lovers. She served as empress of Russia for more than three decades in the 18th century after leaving her husband, Peter III. She became empress consort of Russia when her husband ascended to the thrown when his aunt died on December 25 1761. Her first child was born on September 20, 1754 and his name was Paul. Catherine didn’t spend much time with her son Paul. Throughout her time as ruler of Russia, Catherine the Great made a significant impact. By corresponding with Enlightenment Philosopher’s, she was able to implement some of the ideas of the Enlightenment into reforms for Russia.
