Five Cities That Need An NFL Team The idea of an NFL team in Las Vegas has been on the minds of owners for years, but until recently the idea was much more of a pipe dream than a reality. The Oakland Raiders are toying with the idea of moving to Sin City and some prominent owners such as Robert Craft and Jerry Jones are in support of the potential move. I’m all in for a team in Las Vegas, but there are other cities that, for lack of a better term, deserve an NFL team before the likes of Las Vegas. Below are five cities that should be awarded an NFL team before Las Vegas. 1. Portland, Oregon Portland is one of the biggest media markets in the United States, but the city of Portland possess only one of the “ Big 4”professional teams, the Portland Trailblazers of the NBA. It doesn’t make sense for the countries number one rated sport, the NFL, to not have a team in one of the 25 biggest media markets in the country. Not only is Oregon a football crazed state, but Oregon’s population is also starving for a professional football team. The game of football is the most popular sport in the state of Oregon; the lack of a professional football team in the state of Oregon is …show more content…
preposterous in the year 2016. Potential Team Names: Portland Wolves, Portland Storm, Portland Pirates 2.
Sacramento, California Similarly to Portland, Sacramento is one of the biggest media markets in the Untied States, but despite this, only one professional team exists in the city of Sacramento. The city has proven that they can back a professional team, regardless of the level of talent. Despite being one of the most dysfunctional teams in the NBA, the Kings continue to be supported by their fans, so much so, when the team was on the verge of relocating, the citizens of Sacramento agreed to a tax increase to fund a new arena. With only one other major sports team to compete with, the NFL would thrive in the city of Sacramento. Potential Team Names: Sacramento Senators, Sacramento Stallions, California
Capitals 3. Omaha, Nebraska Despite the lack of a “Big 4” professional sports team, the state of Nebraska ranks among the top states in terms of sports viewership- this can be largely equated to the popularity of the Nebraska Cornhuskers, but imagine what a professional football team could do in the state of Nebraska; a state that lacks any professional sports team; a state that supports a below average college team, so much so the Cornhuskers have sold out well over 300 consecutive home games. The NFL is more popular than college football. An NFL team would thrive in the state of Nebraska, particular in Omaha. Potential Team Names: Nebraska Knights, Omaha Coyotes, Nebraska Bison 4. Brooklyn, New York The state of New York already claims three of the 32 professional football teams, but two of those three (Jets and Giants) play their home games in New Jersey. Although not a city it’s self, Brooklyn would be considered one of the top 15 major media markets if it were a city itself rather than just a burrow. The burrow already is home to both the Nets and Islanders, but that doesn’t mean the fans couldn’t support a football team. Potential Team Names: Brooklyn Dodgers, Brooklyn Bulls, New York Knights, 5. San Antonio, Texas San Antonio is home to the Spurs, one of the most successful professional teams in all of sports- yet the Spurs are the only “Big 4” professional sports team in the San Antonio market. The team has supported the Spurs for years; consistently ranking among the most passionate fan bases in polls that measure the passion of fan bases. Potential Team Names: San Antonio Rangers, San Antonio Outlaws, San Antonio Generals
It is the reason fans fill the stadiums or turn them into ghost towns. If you were to look up success in the NFL one would probably see a picture of the Patriots. Six trips to the Super Bowl, fourteen winning records, and making the playoffs fourteen out of fifteen times within a fifteen year period are all hallmarks of their success. Comparing that to the Cowboys’ one playoff win, zero Super Bowl appearances, and five winning records within that same time span really shows which team has enjoyed more
The Raiders organization has finalized plans to move from Oakland, CA to Las Vegas, NV. A marketing plan needs to be created to retain the current Oakland fanbase for 2-3 years until the move and also set up the market in Las Vegas as we get ready to make the move.
Oklahoma City they are renamed the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Moving of the Seattle Super Sonics to Oklahoma City and the creation of the Oklahoma City Thunder have brought many positive impacts to the Oklahoma City metro and to the entire state of Oklahoma both economically and socially.
...e McMahon will spend millions of dollars in a campaign to draw fan interest and support and very little return on investment will occur. Yes, the first season may be successful with the “all-access” view of football and little outside sporting competition. However, America will soon recognize that the XFL games have poor quality talent and that it is just Vince McMahon and Dick Ebersol trying to make a few extra bucks at the expense of the American public. I believe that this league will fold after its second season. As an accountant and an economist, I wish Vince and Dick the best of luck in marketing this gem. I hope they are able to make the XFL profitable and possibly change the face of competitive sports with the flare the WWF provides. However, they will have to do so without one avid football and professional wrestling fan supporting their endeavor, ME!
Since 2005 the Philadelphia Eagles have saved 3 million dollars because of the environmental work they have done and 100 percent of their energy comes from reusable sources. ("Smarter Business: Greening the Games") To start off, most NFL teams have charities and donate to charities, especially the Philadelphia Eagles. Also, they help out with the environment. Teams have a special way to pick players around the league and in the draft for their team. To add to that, NFL teams and especially the Eagles keep a close eye on the player's health and how to keep them healthy. I want to start an NFL team and have the franchise based on the Philadelphia Eagles. There are many cities in the U.S. that are suitable for teams and there are a lot of things
First of all, the league will succeed because it has been geared towards the fans from the beginning. In contrast, the NFL only seems to care about its premadonna, million dollar superstars. Chuck Miller, a columnist for Football Digest, points out the perfect timing for the league. It starts up right after the Super Bowl and ends right before the basketball and hockey postseasons (58). The XFL has implemented many new rules to increase the excitement of the game. No fair catches, no kicking for PATs, and no “safety” rules to protect the quarterback are just a few of the rules changed in hopes of creating a faster more competitive game. Secondly, there are cameras and microphones everywhere, including on the benches, in the huddles, and all over the field. This will give the fans a new and different perspective than the average NFL game. The locker rooms at half time, a referee’s huddle, and even a player’s brutal taunts to the opposing team which are usually off limits to the average fan add to the thrill and emotion of an XFL game. Also, the price of an average XFL ticket is around a reasonable twenty-five dollars. These cheap tickets to a new and certainly exciting professional football league have many people believing this is truly fan-based entertainment.
The Dallas Cowboys, America’s football team, one of the most well known professional football franchises in the sport’s history. The Cowboys own five super bowl titles, which were won in ’71, ’77, ’92, ’93 and ’95. They are also home to 19 renowned individuals who have been inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame including standout football stars Tony Dorsett, Emmit Smith, and Troy Aikman. Established in 1960, the Cowboys have been a dominating force on the field and still continue to produce to this day. Forbes wrote, “The Cowboys franchise value reaches over 1.85 billion and are listed as the third most valued sports team in the world”, (Page 1). With all of this hype and world wide recognition the powerhouse from Dallas needs a venue just as prominent as the team itself as well as having the capability to hold all the weight the Cowboys name carries.
Do you like professional football? Have you ever wondered where teams originate from? Or what teams have been around the longest? The Pittsburgh Steelers are a professional team that has an extensive history. There are also many unique details about them that other NFL teams do not have. There creator was a great man who started the team from practically nothing, their name and logo represent great tradition, and lastly, they have won many championships.
... add to the money flow by buying tickets to watch the drafts, and it can get very boring if one is not into that type or thing. (Stepansky 5). “In terms of venue, adding a bit of granduer to the draft would not be a bad idea. Perhaps holding the draft in the same city as the Super Bowl or the All-Star Game of that year. (Stepansky 5).
In 2008, the Seattle Super Sonics relocated to Oklahoma City and now are known as the Thunder. While in Seattle, the team was not very successful and the owner had some disputes with the city and contracts which lead the sports council in Oklahoma City to inquire about hosting the team. The Thunder had a rough start when they first came into Oklahoma but after the first two year, they have progressed and became a dominant team. Over the years, the Thunder has built up a huge fan base in Oklahoma, who supports them through each battle because the Thunder has shown much appreciation through their actions.
o They would be involved in the franchise before they had a lot to lose

Abstract: The Stadium construction boom continues, and taxpayers are being forced to pay for new high tech stadiums they don’t want. These new stadiums create only part-time jobs. Stadiums bring money in exclusively for professional leagues and not the communities. The teams are turning public money into private profit. Professional leagues are becoming extremely wealthy at the taxpayers expense. The publicly-funded stadium obsession must be put to a stop before athletes and coaches become even greedier. New stadiums being built hurt public schools, and send a message to children that leisure activities are more important than basic education. Public money needs to be used to for more important services that would benefit the local economy. Stadiums do not help the economy or save struggling towns. There are no net benefits from single purpose stadiums, and therefore the stadium obsessions must be put to a stop.
Although many Arizona vacationers find their way to Las Vegas, Laughlin, Nevada offers travelers many of the same amenities with less hustle and bustle. Over the past few decades, Las Vegas has become a hot-bed for the gambling and nightlife scene of West coast vacationers. With Nevada's proximity to Arizona, many of us are unaware of the fact that Laughlin, Nevada can offer travelers just what they are looking for, with a small town appearance. Although Las Vegas has been a well known desert oasis, with over-sized hotels and dozens of popular casinos, Laughlin can be just as enticing.
The Seattle Seahawks located in Seattle Washington, is one of the top teams in the NFL. The Seahawks were founded in 1976 and are owned by Paul Allen. The Seattle Seahawks haven't had it easy, it's been rough ride throughout the years. There have been many coaches and many players have passed through the Seattle team. There are some very special people that the Seahawks truly treasure that aren’t players or coaches out on the field. They treasure the 12th man. This allusive 12th man isnt a player out on the field, it's the fans. Even though the 12th man spirit didn't start in Seattle they are loud and proud about it. Seattle has some of the loudest fans in the league. They are so loud that they get earthquake readings at Century Link Stadium, they call the earthquake reading "Beast Mode." This season(2013-2014) they have a very tough lineup, they have "Beast Mode"aka Marshawn Lynch, Richard Sherman, Russell Wilson, Golden Tate and the amazing coach Pete Carroll. The Seattle Seahawks have been a very successful team in the 2013-2014 season. The Seahawks have a strong defense which has been a key part in their success this year. The Seahawk’s offense hasn’t been bad this year either. They have some very strong player that contribute to their success. Their offense includes: #3 quarterback Russell Wilson, #24 running back “beast mode” Marshawn Lynch, #89 wide reciever 1 Doug Baldwin and #81 wide reciever 2 Golden “Showtime” Tate. Without this strong offense and strong defense the Seahawks wouldn’t be where they are today.
