What is your greatest motivation when buying a product? For many years’ manufacturers have been using advertisement for marketing and selling their products. Personally, I do not always buy a product because I need it; but because the advertisement makes it look so appealing. As I was browsing through the January 2013, Family Circle Magazine; I came across a carmex advertisement. I am familiar with the product; however, I was not aware that they were also making body creams and lotions. There were many elements included in the advertisement that caught my attention. For example, the bright yellow color, the name of the product, and the picture of a beautiful lady with her flawless skin glowing. The main idea of advertisements is for customers to see what the manufactures want them to see. When I open the magazine, the first element that caught my attention was the color. The bright, cheerful yellow reminded me of the sun, and the happiness and good times associated with it. For example, vacationing in the Caribbean (Bahamas), lying on the beach with its beautiful white …show more content…
sand and crystal clear water as it reflects the spectacular blue sky and the sun as it glairs. This is a very therapeutic way of relaxing my overworked brain, after the end of a hectic year of school and work. It also reminded me of the bright colored fruits and vegetables, which as a child, my mom would always encourage me to eat. She would always say, “Eat up your fruits and vegetables, you’ll have beautiful skin, and perfect vision.” The yellow also matches the color of the product, which demonstrates better times (after using the product your skin will improve, and you will not have to worry about skin problems). I am familiar with the product because I have used their lip balm in the past; however, I was surprised to know that they were also making skin cream, and lotion. The lady is wearing a bright yellow swim wear, which represents optimistic. The advertisement also uses the image of a white lady, the color white in the background, and for the bold letters in the words, “IT’S THAT BEAUTIFUL FEELING OF HEALING.” The color white symbolizes purity, and goodness, this is done deliberately to attract their customer’s attention. Another entity of the advertisement that caught my attention was a jubilant and beautiful young lady. A photo of a beautiful lady is seldom used by many manufactures, to advertise their products. For over twenty-five thousand years the image of women has been used to attract and stimulate the mind of society; however, this continues to dominate the modern world. Manufactures realizes that using the image of a beautiful and proportionate figured female to market their product is a very smart strategy. This will entice their customers to buy their products, and not only will it attract the female population, but also males. A female wearing minimal or tight skimpy clothing is always a terrific catch; especially for men.
Wearing minimum clothing, the young lady shows off her cleavage and beautiful skin. She is lying on her side with her hand supporting her head; and her long and silky brown hair flows effortlessly to the side. Her perfectly curved lips as she smiles and her sparkling grey eyes demonstrates that she is thrilled with her beautiful skin. Her posture depicts relaxation, comfort, and confidence. This implies that this is how the targeted customers that uses this product will look and feel. Upon seeing this photo, the thoughts that first came to my mind was, Wow! how can I accomplish having my skin looking as beautiful, flawless, and smooth as hers? The answer was carmex skin cream and lotion. The advertisement emphasizes a great deal on how beautiful your skin will look after using carmex cream and
lotion. In this advertise that I view, the bright yellow color and the picture of a lady with beautiful skin, was not what the advertisement only emphasis. It’s text also implied that with the use of carmex you will get soft, smooth, and beautiful skin. The picture of the young lady shows no sign of aging, wrinkles, or blemishes. This is implying how effective the product is. The young lady in the picture demonstrates that she is confident in the way her skin looks and feels after using carmex lotion and cream; and that she is happy with the product. This made the advertisement very effective in selling smooth beautiful skin. Having beautiful skin is every woman’s dream, including mine. After seeing this advertisement, I can just imagine how many women are searching the internet and stores to find carmex body lotion and cream. I know I will. The advertisement does not only attract the female population but also males. This advertisement also indicates that our brain is stimulated by bright colors and beauty.
Popular brands and companies typically rely heavily on brand names to unfairly convince people to buy their specific product, even though another brand would likely work almost the same. In order to do this, those companies use many elements of ethos, but they also attempt to establish the superiority of their brand with logos and pathos. In the commercial, “Colgate Dentist DRTV,” the brand attempts to persuade consumers to buy Colgate Total toothpaste by presenting their name and relatable women, followed by attractive visuals, but ultimately the advertisement fails to provide enough logic to convince a well-informed audience that it truly matters which brand of toothpaste they buy, and that Colgate is better than any
What are the aspects of an underwear advertisement that make us want to buy them? “Hanes Her Way” by Brittany Gray, a freshman at Virginia Commonwealth University, analyzes an underwear advertisement by Hanes. Gray describes the starting scene as a “mild, relaxed morning.” She goes on to describe the music being played, “Fade Into You” by Mazzy Star and acknowledges that the soft ballad complements the pleasant setting. As the male actor speaks about how his wife’s white cotton underwear reminds him of his mother and his childhood, the commercial “fades out on the Hanes trademark.” By describing the commercial in detail, and backing up her statements with evidence, Gray states that this commercial depicts the fantasy of women well enough to make them want to buy the product.
The target market would be women who require the essential night cream in order to stay looking young. In today 's world women crave the idea of looking young for a longer period of time. The idea of this ad is for women to see a beautiful woman with amazing looking skin and aspire to look like her. The Aveeno Active Naturals ad recognizes different aged women who want to stay looking younger longer. The use of a beautiful woman in the ad helps to convince women that this product will help them stay looking young.
Cleaning companies advertisements usually are not exciting, but this is an exciting advertisement. This advertisement shows many positives points. The background of picture is exciting, because it contains beautiful things such as flower in bottom the battle. Also the advertisement uses a small bottle with writing inside the battel. This advertising company is Clorox. This company care more about the cleanliness. The advertisement tries to attract cleaners to see and, buy it. Clorox’s advertisement has many of the visual effects like the colors, picture, and text. The advertisement is successful, because the advertisement is helpful to cleaners.
Have you ever seen an advertisement for a product and could immediately relate to the subject or the product in that advertisement? Companies that sell products are always trying to find new and interesting ways to get buyers and get people’s attention. It has become a part of our society today to always have products being shown to them. As claimed in Elizabeth Thoman’s essay Rise of the Image Culture: Re-Imagining the American Dream, “…advertising offered instructions on how to dress, how to behave, how to appear to others in order to gain approval and avoid rejection”. This statement is true because most of the time buyers are persuaded by ads for certain products.
Sex sells a common phrase which turns out to be very truthful and also the title of Rodger Streitmatter's book, Sex Sells! The Medias Journey from Repression to Obsession. It seems like no other human act drives "buying behavior" as much as sex appeal does. Therefore advertisers manipulate this human drive and than offer their products as a path of love, beauty and desirability which is their main purpose of advertising. In other words the main purpose of advertising is to sell products and what advertisers must do to get people to buy these products is to make products desirable to the chosen target consumers. The pioneering of bringing prurience to advertising was Calvin Klein, starting with women's jeans going then to men's underwear and ending up with perfume for both sexes at the end. Perfume advertising is a large contributor to sex appeal. In both ads for Opium and Dolce & Gabbana perfumes advertisers use sexual seduction and influence to sell their product. They use sex appeal to grab our attention and play with our fears and desires and they manipulate us by fulfilling our erotic fantasies and dreams.
Beginning a long time ago, many companies started using sex in their advertisements; however, contemporary advertisements are beginning to use different aspects of nature to sell their products. For years, sex appeal was perhaps the most important attribute of a product. Companies would show young, half-naked bodies in their TV commercials and magazine advertisements. The producers sought to force the public audience to take pleasure by looking at these beautiful ladies, while also making viewers feel naughty at the same time. Advertisers thought the audience would not be able to avoid looking at these well-endowed women. And to consumers, the women were appealing, and that made the product itself appealing. In some recent commercials, however, the concentration has changed from sinful desires to the more healthy approach to life. Everyone wants to appear healthy and in good shape. To achieve this, many people are eating better, working out more often and using healthier products on their skin. To demonstrate the idea about natural products, I have chosen three advertisements to show how these companies use nature to sell their products .
All these stages are simple, but extremely effective. Any advertisement that you hear on the radio or see on the TV is using classical conditioning to make you change your behavior and go and buy their product. Cola, pizzas, cars, and even toilet paper commercials are no exception. Advertisements are made with this psychological principal, using objects or certain types of people to generate an emotion to dig deep into your mind and your pocket book. Today we will take a walk through the history of advertising and look at how commercials for beauty products have evolved with the
An analysis of the signs and symbols used in Patek Philippe Geneve's "Begin your own tradition" advert.
Advertising generally tries to sell the things that consumers want even if they should not wish for them. Adverting things that consumers do not yearn for is not effective use of the advertiser’s money. A majority of what advertisers sell consists of customer items like food, clothing, cars and services-- things that people desire to have. On the other hand it is believed by some advertising experts that the greatest influence in advertising happens in choosing a brand at the point of sale.
In addition, I value advertisements that are not geared toward just sales. Personally, when an advertisement is all about making the sale it turns me away from the product. I do like CoverGirl’s ad a little more than I did, however if I had to choose between Maybelline and CoverGirl I would still go with Maybelline. Knowing CoverGirl made an emotional connection with the delicious lipstick and relating it to the delicious ice cream was clever and I appreciate it. Nevertheless, my feeling on the overwhelming effect of being crowded still stands
Every company wants to understand why people decide to buy its products or others. Firstly, we have to understand why people buy certain kind of product. People buy products because they need them. A need is activated and felt when there is a sufficient discrepancy between a desired or preferred state of being and the actual state. (Engle£¬Blackwell and Miniard. 1995. p407 ) For example, when you feel hungry, what you needs is some food. It is very important for marketer to understand the needs of consumers. All the consumers may have the same needs, but the ways which they satisfy what they need are different. Here is a example, Chinese people would choose rice when they feel hungry, whilst British people may choose bread to satisfy their needs.
Advertising is an information source to inform people about the products and prices of the company, which can help them to make informed choices. More recently, a huge amount of money has been spent on advertising throughout the world. Different types of advertisement such as television, radio, magazine, newspaper, the internet, billboards and posters can influence consumer’s behavior positively or negatively as there are different arguments and opinions. This essay will focus on the purpose of the advertisement for the company, the positive and negative effects of the advertisement on consumer behavior. According to Shimp (2007), there are five important factors which determine the purpose of an advertisement in terms of marketers’ communication with consumers.
Beauty product can be defined as cosmetics; materials and devices made and sold for the purpose of enhancing the physical attractiveness of users or in other words, as any product, especially a cream or lotion, intended to improve a person's appearance . We live in society where people nowadays are very obsessed with beauty and spending so much money on beauty products. Since we were children, the society taught us that beauty is happiness, wellness and everything. This creates a mindset that only attractive physical appearance is beauty, even though ‘beauty’ is a very subjective word where it can apply to many things. It is a rare sight these days to
Creating a creative advertisement that stands out from the crowd is essential for any company’s growth. A common communication strategy is for companies to break through competitive clutter in order to shape consumers attitude and intentions. A creative ad is able to catch the attention of onlookers with the added wow factor. Interest in an ad is influenced by surprise, information and benefits. Comforts fabric softener ad (See appendix 1), is a great example of this as the ad displays a perfect visual for their product with an added touch of humor to draw potential customers attention to the ad. Their ad clearly conveys the message of their product without the need of a
