This paper will inform you on the history of architecture, the requirements it takes to become one, and the outlook of this field. The first thing is the history of architecture. Scientist has proven that the first sign of architecture showings were started 30,000 years ago. This job really began back in 8000 B.C., when Egyptians started building tents and houses. After the tents and houses, came the buildings and pyramids, which were built between 3000-2500 B.C. Now architecture has evolved into one of the best and highest paid jobs in the United States today. Just about everything around you today started out as a plan in someone’s architecture firm. Some of the most famous buildings were designed, planned, and built by architects. For instance the Eifel tower, the Statue of Liberty, and the twin towers were all done by architects. Being an architect isn’t really anything to be famous. There aren’t really any famous architects, but all of them get lots of money. Hard work, dedication, and a positive mind can make anyone a successful architect in today’s world. The first thing is you must know the three main steps to becoming a licensed architect. You must first receive a professional degree in architecture. Most architects earn their degree through a five year Bachelor of Architecture degree program, intended for students with no previous training. Many others earn a master’s ... ... middle of paper ... ...architects, the requirements that it will take to become an architect, and the entire outlook of this career. So know it’s up to the reader to determine whether they will become an architect or choose to take another route in their life. Architecture, as a profession, did not exist in colonial America. Only the wealthy men of the South were to have some knowledge of architectural styles. Finally gentlemen farmers and merchants were able to create plans and pictures of their dream houses by combining their skills. They were then able to become what was known as amateur architects.
When an architect is influenced they create. They make what they see in their mind. But people could always improve what they’ve already created. Homes at one point were only one story houses. But suddenly to someone’s mind they thought homes should be two stories or even three. Back in High School, most of my classmates wanted to become architects and they’d be asked how they were influenced to draw a blueprint like the one they had. Some would respond with “I saw this house that had this this and this and I really liked it so I put it into my home.” Meaning they would be inspired by a home that was already
I first heard of the word architecture when I was in the sixth grade. At that time it only meant the design of a building to me but as I grew, it grew onto me, I began to become more interested in architecture. Now I know that architecture is more than just the design of a building. It is coming up with the structure scaling and even the view of the top of a building or house and the sectioned view. In the future I see myself as a grown man sitting beside other people while coming up with a design which would one day affect the lives of many people in a positive way. This impact would contribute to helping people use areas and space in the right way, I want to make something which would be beneficial to everyone. I am a 17-year-old African American boy who attends Brooklyn High School of the Arts, where I currently major in art.
The success of architects is defined not so much by the problems they face as the act of their creative and practical responses.
Architecture is such a wide thing when we talk about buildings and projects. Architecture is defined as the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings. One of the Renaissance man who not only define...
I believe that this is the correct program for me and I hope that this program will help me foster and develop my creative talents further and become the person I want to be, an architect that leaves an impact on the world. I realize now the power that architecture has and the role it plays in shaping lives as I have seen it shape mine through studying it, and so now I would like to continue my education, so that I can take the necessary steps forward to fulfilling what I want to do in my architectural
Architecture, the practice of building design and its resulting products, customary usage refers only to those designs and structures that are culturally significant. Today the architecture must satisfy its intended uses, must be technically sound, and must convey beautiful meaning. But the best buildings are often so well constructed that they outlast their original use. They then survive not only as beautiful objects, but as documents of history of cultures, achievements in architecture that testify to the nature of the society that produced them. These achievements are never wholly the work of individuals. Architecture is a social art, yet Frank Lloyd Wright single handily changed the history of architecture. How did Frank Lloyd Wright change architecture?
are contributors and participants of architecture unlike in other arts like paintings, plays, music etc.
This career is also incredibly rewarding because you get to see and experience your work. You can see its progress and how it looks once it is finished and then even after that you can still experience it and see how other people react to your building or the place that you have designed. Only after seeing how other people interact with your building will you know if it is a success or not which is like no other profession. Lots of professions are very instantaneous, did you save someone, did you teach properly or have you added correctly but architecture is something that lives on even after you are gone. It is something that can immortalise a person which is incredibly poetic.
In the past, there have been many famous artists, but few of them contributed their artistic skills to the design of the home. Michelangelo was a famous interior designer who created the most magnificent places for the richest of people. He made quantum use of his beautiful sculptures and paintings to create a rich ambiance. This is how interior design first began as a career. Years later, furniture, draperies, and wall coverings were included. Elsie de Wolfe was the first to practice interior design in the 1950s. Adam and Louis Comfort Tiffany, two American brothers, began a company to create beautiful furnishings and art, especially stained glass.
With the help of architectural engineers, our world has become very civilized and advanced over the past decades. Like all other engineers, architectural engineers use logic and creativity to solve problems. They come up with effective designs to assist people in their everyday tasks. In our daily lives we are surrounded by buildings. Places that were once a dessert are turned into cities that now hold amazing buildings. Houses, schools, shopping centers, offices, apartments, airports, etc. are very essential in our society. These buildings do not only please the eye, but they also provide us with shelter and are made to withstand hurricanes, earthquakes, snow storms, and strong winds. Would these buildings still function efficiently and provide us with a stable shelter if it were not for architectural engineers? There are different engineers with each their own expertise, but for buildings in particular, architectural engineers are needed. Architectural engineering, also known as building engineering, is an interdisciplinary program that integrates important knowledge from different disciplines such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering , architecture, physics, chemistry, biology, and economics (“Building Engineering”). An architectural engineering professional has to master all the different disciplines because the design of building systems often requires the application of the disciplines. Architectural engineers are important in today’s society because they possess the knowledge and qualifications to work on complex buildings, lead project teams, and most importantly, to provide us with a safe environment.
Architecture has changed immensely throughout the course of history. I will start of by saying architecture is the art or practice of designing and constructing buildings. Therefore that said we have improved our way of building structures to make them last and look magnificent. All through this essay I will discuss how architecture has changed throughout history in four sections. The first section will cover architecture from the 10,000 B.C.E to 1 C.E. Second section will cover architecture from 1 C.E to 1,000 C.E. The third section will cover architecture from 1 C.E to 1,800 C.E. Last but not least the fourth section will cover architecture from 1,800 C.E to current day. Throughout all of these time periods architects have played a big role in architecture from Michelangelo to Ludwig Mies, they have all made a contribution to the beautiful art that is architecture.
The profession of architecture, the possible career as an architect, taking steps to gain a position and education as well as the set growth and prospects of this profession. According to Lee W. Waldrep (2010), author of the book Becoming a Architect “A Guide to Careers in Design, an architect is an imaginative person who designs a wide range of structures for buildings”(p. 2). These structures not only have to be aesthetically pleasing, but must also meet the safety requirements. Architects have to compete with other architects to attract customers by presenting designs. This process is generally based on building a reputation as an architect. Due to the nature and the amount of time devoted to designing, architects
The regulatory and legislative frameworks extend the challenge for the architect and for the profession.
Times have changed since days of Vitruvius, the inevitable advancement in technology, rapid global population increase and an ever developing awareness of the sustainability of our environment have forced the architect into different positions in the project team Thus it can be said that the external forces that shape the environment that an architect works in does so by manipulating the relationship between the skills required to practice; the scope of expertise and the depth of knowledge. Fig. 3 indicates a diagrammatic timeline representing the changing roles of the architect over the various time periods with respect to the scope and depth of
