With so many new jobs and job opportunities developing in today's world there is an endless number of careers one can have. To choose my career I had to take many things into consideration like, how the job would fit me and the yearly salary of the job. The career I choose to research is U.S Customs and Border Protection. A Custom officer, also referred to as federal agents or CBP would be in the same category as a police officer or detective. The reason that I would like to be a Custom officer is because I want to be able to protect the people of my country. Stopping crime, drugs and terrorist from entering this country would be very satisfying to me. Also, Custom officers get paid very good with a minimal amount of education and training …show more content…

When deciding what career paths, I wanted to choose, looking at and seeing what the advantages and disadvantages were played a very important part in this decision. There are many advantages that come with being a Customs officer. One of the biggest advantages are the pay and benefits. One can make a lot of money being a Customs officer with just a small amount of college education. Along with this most border ports have a work out facility located in the building which allows the officers to be active and stay in shape. The last advantage is that, working at the border ports can be very satisfying as a job knowing that you are protecting your country from drugs and terrorist. The one thing I hate most about the possibility of working for the government is, shift work. Working shifts would be very hard because shifts are always revolving, which means my sleeping schedule would always be changing, eventually when I have a family I could miss out on important memories because I would be working. I’ve seen from experience how difficult shift work is. My brother has had to work two eight hour shifts in a row because someone didn’t show up. Working sixteen hours straight would be very difficult.
Personality strengths that I match that would make me a good fit to become a Custom officer. I believe that I have very good communication skills which would fit perfectly with being a customs officer, because officers

The Army National Guard is a great place to learn a skill, get paid for it, and get ahead.
There are also 13 sick-leave days each year that roll over to the next year if not used. There are also many other advantages such as meeting political figures of the United States, meeting international political figures, and if you have an interest in law enforcement as well as defending your country for the better good. If you have an interest in fighting against crime and want to be in a high paying agency then being in the Border Patrol just might be the job for
The United States’ government instilled a closed door policy with the creation of many immigration laws in an effort to make America a melting pot of similar ethnicities. However, the prejudice of American society that was enforced by immigration policy forced immigrants to form their own communities for the purpose of survival and protection, turning America into a mosaic of different cultures. The Burlingame Treaty of 1868 and Naturalization Act of 1870 both created a false image of acceptance for immigrants while simultaneously restricting immigration. The United States’ government only began clearly restricting immigration with the Page Act of 1875 and Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882.

My mind has wondered for so long about what my career would be. We all wanted to be astronauts, but I never liked space or the fact of not having any gravity. What if I get lost in the universe? Maybe I’ll be a firefighter, but I never was interested. Well, how about a cop?

Given what’s been said, one may ask me why it is that I aspire to be a correctional officer. And the answer to that question is rather simple. I want to be a correctional officer because I thrive on a rush of euphoria to course through my veins. And being a correctional officer will allow an endless supply of euphoria to course through my veins. And with that said, I don’t need to further explain why such a career is what I long for.

They are exposed to rigorous training for the development of their stamina, endurance and physical characteristics. Their character is also developed as they engage in the different trainings requirements inside the academy. They were engaged in different trainings that will help them to be a better one. Cadets follow a daily schedule in which they wake up early, fix their beds, clean their rooms, and dress up for reveille. Since they are full in duties, they have limited time to do their own personal stuffs. This however, will help them to develop stability under pressure that despite limited time, they can still work for their compliances, prepare for their personal things and even for the next duty, both under the military training requirements and academic requirements. This set up is necessary since the cadets must be well trained physically, mentally, emotionally, and also academically.
