Canadian Workplace Experience

Im an international student and I have been in Canada since four years. During all these years I have felt how much employers look for Canadian workplace experience so that employees are familiar with workplace culture, social cues, and expectation. Canadian experience is a huge requirement for getting a job in Canada and may limit applications from new migrated individuals to get their Job, and could result in discrimination on the basis of race, place of origin or ethnic origin. Canadian workplace experience means of being more capable of being fluent in English or French and have a local certification. Not only this but also many immigrants who comes to Canada have to face difficulty in finding a job because they don’t have “Canadian Experience”. Many employers imply restrictions at work place that could be counted as SPD. Such as: coming clean shave to work, not talking in your native language, not bringing expensive gifts for your boss (might be considered as bribery) and so on. I do remember that I did really well on the interview and the employer emailed me that we understood you had prepared for the interview, know inside out about the organization, task, and duties but we regret to inform that you have not been selected for this position. They did mention that it was a really tough decision. Later on, I found out about the person who was selected instead of me. She was a White, Canadian and it was obvious that she might have more Canadian workplace experience than me. I still feel that I was more deserving than her because the job was about fundraising and I had that skill and know-how. I perceived that I was an international student and University had my record.
