Thesis: It's essential to know your camera’s features and settings if you want to take the best possible photos!

Introduction
I. Have you ever wondered why our selfies are so much better than yours? (Visual Aid)
II. All cameras have the same basic features.
A. Not all cameras have features and settings that can be adjusted.
B. It's essential to know your camera’s features and settings if you want to take the best photos possible!
C. Today we are going to explain how the basic components of a camera, the aperture, shutter speed, and ISO affect the outcome of an amazing photo.
Body
I. According to “Cambridge in Colour”, every camera is built with basic components.
A. How many of you own a camera that is not on your phone? (Visual Aid)
B. There are many kinds of cameras available today, but not all cameras are created equal.
1. Cell phone cameras are good for social media and casual communication.
2. Single-Lens Reflex cameras (SLR) are mostly bought in camera stores, but are not as commonly used today as they were fifteen years ago.
a. SLR cameras store images on 35 mm film.
b. The film must be brought to a photo lab for processing.
3. Digital Single-Lens Reflex cameras (DSLR) have a wide price range, and can be bought at any retail or electronics store.
a. DSLR cameras store images as electronic files.
b. It can be connected by cable or memory card into your computer and downloaded for electronic storage.
C. All cameras have two basic components.
1. The diaphragm is the body of the camera.
a. Old cameras were made of metal, but now made of sturdy plastic.
b. Depending on whether it uses 35mm film or digital storage, features are slightly different.
2. The lens is the optical “eye” where the images are collected.

Conclusion
I) There are several other simple features that many of you may have already used.
A. Flashes are very commonly used in the dark.
B. Self-Timer is used when there is no one to take the picture.
C. As you can see, there are many features and settings available on cameras.
1. Explore your own camera for features and settings.
2. The more you learn to use them, the better your photos will be.
D. Before we end, we’d like to demonstrate the use of the Self-Timer as we take a class photo.
