Call of the wild report
"Buck was no ordinary dog. He was bigger than a wolf and smarter than
any other dog that ever lived."
This book is mostly about a fairly big dog who was strong mentally and
physically, even though he only starts off as a regular pet. His name
was Buck. From the start everyone thought he was special.
This book is set in America starting in California and moving to
Alaska, and except for the very beginning its mostly about how buck
learnt how to live the life of a working sleigh dog and how to sleep
outside in the cold snow and having to work extremely hard each day.
In this book I thought the author lacked description as I found it
hard to picture the characters for myself and of those I could imagine
were from the pictures that came up every now and again.
This book is mostly about the adventures of Buck gradually becoming
extremely strong and powerful after working so hard and almost acting
like a real wolf, and he even would be strong enough to beat a wolf at
a fight.
"Every movement showed that he was prepared to be either fierce ...
He decided to explore the area around the lake a bit, and sees an animal in the distance. It’s a wolf.
In this article I will be telling some differences between “Call of the Wild” book and movie. Some will be obvious while others may be just a tad bit different. For the most part they were both good. I hope you like my story about them.
choosing between a master or a wolf pack (love of John Thornton and the call of the wild)
Although he spent 10 years in college, he got married and had three children. He helped his mother stand up to her family and make them realize once and for all that she is deaf and cannot be made to fit in the hearing world. He wrote a 175 page paper that made him realize that he could write a book. He also finally found a job as a counselor at PSD, working there once again after a few years at Gaulladet.
Chris McCandless and Buck serve as examples of the archetype of the wild through their experiences of leaving where they feel most comfortable and answering the call of the wild. They show that each experience is inimitable because the wild is unique to every individual. For Buck, the wild is a place outside of civilization and his dependence on man, where the external threats of nature exist and he must prove himself as a true animal with instincts for survival. In McCandless' case, the place outside of civilization is actually an escape from his fears because the wild for him is in relationships, where the threat of intimacy exists and he must learn to trust others for happiness. This is because for each of us, the wild is what we fear, a place outside of our comfort zone and, as McCandless' experience shows, not necessarily a physical place. To render to the call of the wild we must leave everything that makes us feel protected, and we must make ourselves completely vulnerable to the wild. McCandless and Buck show that in order to successfully respond to the call of the wild we must relinquish control and drop our guards, until ultimately the fear subsides and we find peace with ourselves as well as with our environments.
Can you envisage acquiring anything you want in life? For instance, having a huge mansion, servants serving you at your command and an extravagant garden behind your mansion, which has an orchard that has all types of fruits you can imagine eating. In this novel, The Call of the Wild, Jack London, invites you to exploit the life of Buck who is half St. Barnard and Scotch Shepherd dog. His life was luxurious, but one event changes his whole life. He used to live with Judge Miller in an extravagant house in San Diego, California, but one day a greedy gardener abducted and sold him to northward as trained sled a dog.
I did not like the call of the wild because in the story a lot of dogs got hurt and they also got tortured and killed. It was hard for me to read it because I love dogs and it’s hard for me to read it if dogs are getting hurt. Call of the wild was a good book though it was sad also this book had really good feelings. It was really sad also I cried and it was also sad for buck because he lived in the wild. So call of the wild was a very sad book I would say.
This story takes place in California and up through Canada towards Alaska, during the Alaskan (Klondike) Gold Rush in the late 1890’s. Naturalism is presented in The Call of the Wild in many ways such as when Buck had the urge to leave to live in the wild. The only thing that was preventing him to go to the wild was his his love for John Thornton, at times Buck did attack him, but he still knew where he stood with him. This shows naturalism because it is dog against nature as well as man against dog. “ But behind him were the shades of all manner of dogs, half-wolves and wild wolves, urgent and prompting, tasting the savor of the meat he ate, thirsting for the water he drank, scenting the wind with him, listening with him and telling him the
In “Into the Wild” the Author Jon Krakauer expresses to the readers how he is connected to Chris McCandless. Krakauer adds his personal anecdote to the book in chapter 14 & 15 to show how they are similar and what he also went through when he got lost in Alaska as well. He believed he was compelled to write the book about Chris journey because he wanted to show everyone what Chris went through.
In the novel Into the Wild, Christopher McCandless is found dead in the Alaskan wilderness. He was raised in wealthy Virginia suburbs of Washington, D.C. and is a very gifted athlete, scholar, and holds passion and intensity. After graduating from high school McCandless spends the summer on a road trip across the country, which he discovers that his father secretly had a second family during Chris’s childhood. Father and Son is one of the main themes that help develop Into the Wild. Another theme of the novel is ultimate freedom. Chris always felt condemned to be the perfect person because that was the way he was raised.

He was trained to be an outside dog, He didn't like men with hats on, I loved that dog because he was my first dog. When I get sad all I had to do was just whistling to get his attention and he would come. He really liked to mess with the horses we have and my grandparents hated it so when I would get dropped off from the school bus I would ride my horse up to the house.
Overcoming and being able to get through exhausting days takes a lot of perseverance. In Call of The Wild, Buck is overworked and has to learn how to get through days with little energy. Not only was Buck overworked, but my mom was extremely exhausted from her first born child, that did not feel the need for sleep. Although my mom wasn’t using as much physical energy as Buck, it still took away from her physical performance in everyday activities because of how worn out she was. While Buck overcame being tired he became physically very strong, my mom became mentally strong from her exhaustion, making them both persevere through the difficult times.
