Today I will be talking about my experience on getting bullied and how I survived. Being bullied is a very stressful experience to go through specially when you don’t know anybody. A lot of people do not survive this situation or don’t tell anybody else, but I am glad I did. And so I say, what happens next ? My mom decided to leave Puerto Rico because, there were too many problems economically I was ten at the time. When my mom told me and my brother that we were leaving I was pretty excited, just think about it live in a new place, it’s a four seasonal weather, and a new language. I could not think of anything going bad, I was very positive and supportive to the new change I was going to have. When we arrived everything was going well, I was …show more content…
I would go to class not talk to anybody and just to my school work and go home. Overtime something happened I was a straight A student and most of the teachers were noticing that and I was receiving certificates and award every month. I was never a teacher’s pet I just simply did my work but I guess five girls in my classroom simply did not understand that. It started very small step by step first it was the name calling or talking under their breath and whispering things to each other. After that the shoving, pushing started, and throwing my work on the floor. Lastly the physical contact was getting out of hand to the point where these five girls will pull my hair while going down the stairs or putting their feet in the way so that I would fall. They started instigating me into punching one of them so that they could all jump me and say that I started everything. However, the worst day I have ever had been the day that they all decided to push me down the stairs and ever since that day I broke down. I started missing school because I was too afraid to go, my mom event went to confront the situation and nothing was done. Those five girls were the reason
When I was nine years old, my parents, two siblings, and uncle decided that it was time for us to move from Missouri up to chilly Massachusetts. Both my uncle and father were construction workers. There were so many projects in Massachusetts, it was sensible for us to move. Financially, this was also the solution to our money problems. All around we were all very excited for this move, all except for myself. About halfway to Massachusetts, I had a gut feeling that this was a bad decision. Upon arrival, I felt like a fish out of water and, I was. Everything was so different compared to how Missouri was.
Sadly, things in Puerto Rico were not as easy as we had hoped they would be, and we were only there for eight months. A serious(series) of unfortunate events led my parent to decide that we needed to go elsewhere to find better opportunities. We came in with $ and left to(for) New Jersey with only $. We had some family friends who had just moved to New Jersey who helped us find a place to live and get around NJ when we arrived. The difference in language was difficult for my parents, but they surrounded themselves with Spanish speakers who would help them understand English. My father canvased with other canvassers who worked for the union that spoke both Spanish and English and my mother began work at(in) a factory so that we could make ends meet. (My first memories are from) The first memories that I have are from NJ, we lived in an attic, it was small but clean. We didn 't have much, but we were happy. I never once went hungry and while both of my parents worked I was taken care of by a daycare. One of the new friends my dad had met canvassing moved to New York, they offered to share the apartment with us since it was more spacious than what we had in NJ, my parents again picked up and
It was a beautiful, sunny day in South Florida. I was six years old, playing by the pool with my new puppy. I loved swimming in the pool almost every day after school. I also enjoyed going out on our boat after school or crossing the street and going to the beach. My father came home one evening with some interesting news. Now, I do not remember exactly how I felt about the news at that time, but it seemed like I did not mind that much. He had announced that we were going to move back to my birth country, Belgium. I had been living in Florida for five years and it was basically all I had known so I did not know what to expect. I had to live with my mom at first, and then my sister would join us after she graduated high school and my father finished settling things. I remember most of my earlier childhood by watching some old videos of me playing by the pool and dancing in the living room. It seemed like life could not get any better. However, I was excited and impatient to experience a new lifestyle. I realized that I could start a whole new life, make new friends and learn a new language. Belgium was not as sunny as South Florida but it has much better food and family oriented activities. Geographic mobility can have many positive effects on younger children, such as learning new languages, being more outgoing, and more family oriented; therefore, parents should not be afraid to move around and experience new cultures.
Becoming someone’s personal punching bag and constantly being called inappropriate names is not something that is ideal, especially in high school. Bullying is a very well known issue around the world, but not everyone is willing to put the effort into solving the problem. There are many different ways of bullying, in several grade levels, workplaces, online, and much more but today’s main focus is in high school. Although, not all things you do, can stop it. To end bullying, everyone needs to come together as a community, to get their word out and make the bullies realize what they are doing. Although there are hundreds of methods to address bullying in high schools, the best solution includes a community effort that incorporates knowing when someone is being bullied, creating an identity safe climate where all people are respected, and encouraging people to be an upstander.
When someone breaks you down over time, telling you you are worthless, pathetic, stupid, ugly, retarded, fat, loser, ect; one may start to think that all this is true. Demeanor changes, the child starts to feel low, and thinks they aren 't good enough. I should know, being bullied wasn 't fun. Being ridiculed for things on a daily basis. Being called names, being hit, degraded is never easy. I started feeling down, I had major depression and anxiety issues. I suffered from migraines for 10-12 hours a day and awful stomach pains every single day for almost two years. My grades started to suffer because I couldn 't concentrate, I was becoming less social and sitting at home more watching the television instead of going outside and having fun. Why? Because I was afraid someone was going to say something to bring me down; and instead of letting them have that chance even more then they already did I decided to slowly decline my way of life. Telling someone that you are bullied isn 't easy; at least for me it wasn 't. You feel so pathetic that you allow someone to treat you so poorly for no good reason. Being bullied ISN 'T an option. You don 't choose if you are bullied or not, and frankly I didn 't choose to be hated for no reason. These other kids in the world didn 't choose to be bullied either and their bully shouldn 't just be treated with a slap on the
Samorah Thomas Mrs. Scott Jackson Block 2 January 9, 2014. “A young man committed suicide because of all the people that bullied him. his parents are devastated,” is what you hear on your news channel. Parents are losing teens every day because of bullying. Bullying is an unwanted aggressive behavior that is repeated over time (www.stopbullying.gov ).
Thesis statement: Approximately three thousand people get bullied everyday, and at some point in our life we got bullied, even though not everyone is the same, for some other people their situation is worse.
As a society, we often underestimate the damages that bullying cause on children, not just America but all over, and the ones who suffer are the victims themselves. Victims are damaged with the stigma that they are weak, yet somehow have to fend for themselves against something that they have little to no control over. Whether it is for funding, a reputation or any other reason schools sweep their bullying problem under the rug or turn a blind eye, however they have more potential to end this growing issue. To the schools that think bullying is not their problem, they should know that according to heyugly.org, an anti-bullying campaign, “Approximately, 160,000 children a day stay home from school in fear of being bullied.”They also point out
Thesis: Bullying is a serious problem in our society today. The victims of bullying are not the problem, the bullies are.
Thanks for you post. I happen to work with some clients that their children are in care. And one of the common reasons for why their children are removed is based on the fact that they were users and most of the children have been affected. Recently, one of this teenage mum was telling me how she felt so responsible for the state of her child. And we got talking and one thing she mentioned was that she had previous negative experiences with accessing services and so she often felt scared, vulnerable, judged negatively, or was unable to find services that she needed.
“Why fit in when you were born to stand out?” (Dr.Seuss). Society often thinks of peer pressure as a negative implement. Often times the community imagines peer pressure as teen influencing one another to experiment with drugs, alcohol, and sexual intercourse. But really all peer pressure is, is the encouragement of changing values and behaviors of an individual. Peer pressure can be thought of as positive for teens, because it allows and individual to become a leader in an environment, strong encouragement to work hard in school, and lead a healthy lifestyle.
Bullying against teens is still happening even though there are various awareness programs to try to prevent it. I want to create awareness of bullying against teens of all religions, race, and sexual orientation. Even with the various attention to bullying, the problem still persists despite the school providing awareness, students are still afraid to say anything. Societal patterns today make bullying a difficult issue to eliminate. Starting in 2007, a total of 35 states made laws to go against bullying at school. These laws consisted of a clear definition of bullying, and how schools will be required to enforce uniform standards of conduct. The reason bullying comes as such an issue to me is because I actually know friends that have been suicidal and have caused themselves harm due to being bullied every day, in school and at home.
Problems usually have solutions. Solutions could be extremely easy to find, or the process of finding one could be problematic. One worldly issue that does not have a solution yet is bullying. Bullying is present in schools world-wide, and it has been this way since there have been schools. This horrible act is accepted as part of life. People are used to bullying, that it almost seems normal. This should not be the case. Bullying is a horrific act that needs to be stopped, but is that possible? Three specific ways people have proposed to stop bullying is to criminalize bully in an attempt to deter any further bullying, to assign bullies student mentors in order to have someone guide them, or to force school or parental figures to be more active in trying to prevent bullying. Each of these methods has its advantages and disadvantages, but which is the best method to effectively stop bullying?
The world would be a better place without you, you should go kill yourself. People often forget that there is somebody else behind the screen on the other side. The twenty-first century led to the development of several innovations, most notably the internet and social media. Despite its numerous benefits, people’s reliance on social media has spawned a new and dangerous concept called cyberbullying. Whether it is spreading rumours or sharing an inappropriate image of someone over the internet, cyberbullying is evident in this newly technology driven world. It is especially worrying when fifty percent of adolescents experience cyberbullying sometime during their lives and ten to twenty percent experience it on a regular basis
Bullying has become a serious problem in public schools systems. Being a victim of bullying is a daily struggle for some students. The issue continues to grow, but the question is how to stop bullying from occurring. Many ways have been attempted to stop bullying, but some are more effective than others. Having the students get involved seems to have the most positive effect on the bullying issue in public school systems.
