Bullying may not seem like a big deal, but in reality it is. “Bullying can threaten students’ physical and emotional safety at school and can negatively impact their ability to learn,” stats Stopbullying.org. Many other websites have been created to assist in ending bullying. Schools can help aid the battle to end bullying by training teachers, create rules and standards for students, and engage the parents and youth. To begin with, staff can be trained to understand, to respond, and to prevent bullying. “All school staff need to be trained on what bullying is, what the school’s policies and rules are, and how to enforce the rules,” proclaims Stopbullying.org. Schools can receive funding to be able to properly train their staff. If the staff is properly trained bullying can be prevented. “Training may take many forms: staff meetings, one-day training sessions, and teaching through modeling behavior,” explains Stopbullying.org. These many different ways to train teachers and staff can ensure that staff understand what bullying is. If students understand the rules and what is expected of them, students are less likely to try to inflict pain or sorrow upon their peers. Making sure the rules are properly enforced can keep students aware of what is insisted of them.
