Bullying
Bullying is a terrible thing. People that do things to hurt a person, need to know that they are doing it. If they do know they need help. A person might be bullied for a lot of reasons. Someone often bully’s another person because, most of the time, they are hurt inside. According to the article “Tales of Bulling”, the bully might have problems at home or school. The thing most people ask about is which is worst, bystander or bully? Bystanders do nothing helpful and bullies start trouble.
People are getting picked on left and right. But why? People can get picked on for how they look, how they talk, their hair, or even what they have. The bully might feel threatened by someone if they have, for example, a new pair of shoes, the bully would make fun of how she looks and throw insults at her. The bully, during this situation, would may be jealous. Many kids that come to schools in the U.S. have trouble speaking the language. The kind of clothes someone is wearing may affect how the bully responds. “Bullies try to look for embarrassing things that you’ve posted like photos or videos”, states Brainpop. They could also force secrets out of you by threatening you. The bullies may

be picking on a person because of an incident that happened some time ago. Reasons why and how people become bullies are so numerous, that it is getting harder for us to find solutions.
Kids become bullies when things are going on at home or in school. Some things that could be going on at school are bad grades or getting in trouble a lot. A couple of things at home that could be happening would be divorce or arguments. On “The Today Show”, they talked about how cyber bullying could increase suicide. Another reasons is that the bully was hurt by another person and wanted revenge. They could also be abusing the fact that they are in charge, or having power over somebody; a group of people. One more reason is to get popular in school. But bullying doesn’t make you popular, it makes you look like a bad
person. Bullies are the ones that start fights and trouble. Bystanders add on and make the situation worse. People ask and debate on which they think is worse. Bystanders walk past kids getting picked on and do nothing. Other times, a bystander just watches and don’t do anything helpful. People say,” The bully is worse since it started the whole thing.” What other people that agree with this say,” But bystanders don’t help and make it worse by helping bullies pick on kids that are weaker or smaller. As you can see, being a bystander can being worse than being a bully. There are three reasons that can convince someone that bystanders are worse. They’re helping the bullies by picking on the kids with the bully. They just walk by like nothing is happening. Bystanders watch when something bad is going on like it’s a movie. Thins evidence concludes, that in this debate, bystanders can be just as bad, if not worse, than bullies.
Remember being a little kid and being pushed down on the playground, being picked last in middle school, or being called horrible names in high school? Those are just a few examples of how people are bullied. A person who repeatedly physically or verbally torments or harasses someone in anyway is bullying (“Bullying” par. 1). It unfortunately happens almost everywhere. It’s a huge problem that is beginning to take over schools. Middle school is an especially troublesome time because this is the time where kids are just trying to be accept by others and they are the most vulnerable. Bullying damages children and teens in all aspects. (“Verbal” par. 4) Depending on how they are being bullied it can affect them physical, emotionally, and even physiologically. (“Verbal” par. 4) There are tragic stories of suicides and teenagers cutting themselves everywhere because of being bullied and finally they’ve reached their last straw. (“Verbal” par. 4) Which makes since because kids who are being bullied are twice as likely to commit suicide compared to someone who is not being bullied. (Murray par. 5) Suicide has hit number three on what kills teenagers in the United States. (Murray par. 6) Victims who become bullied are normally people who try to separate themselves from conflict. (“Bullies” par. 7) They normally are “loners” or “outcasts”, which makes them more vulnerable to become the victim. (“Bullies” par. 7) They may like different types of music, dress unlike others, or have a disability. (Petrocelli par. 3) Children who are being bullied often show common signs like crying and not wanting to go to school. (“Bullying” par. 4) Many say people bully others because they themselves feel like “outcasts” or like they have no friends but ac...
Bullying in school arises as a global issue, and people are becoming more aware of its essence and its consequences. Going to school should be like a second home, a safe, compliant place, but for some student, school can be a social nightmare. Some may view bullying as a harmless act, but it is in fact a dangerous act. Students that have been bullied tend to be emotionally unstable, depressed, loss of interest in school and they have a higher risk of becoming drug addicts and school dropout. Bullying does not only affect the person being bullied, but also the bully himself. Persons who are bullies are usually the ones with the most problems and they use bullying as a mask to hide all their problems. Students who bully are more prone to abuse alcohol and drugs, they usually engage in risky sexual activities and are more likely to grow up as criminal
There are those who stand up, join in, or even leave the situation alone. In truth, bystanders can have many reactions towards bullying. They can either feel strongly about it, or they can not care at all. The major issue with bystanders is that most of them do not do anything. In fact, they seem to just accept what is happening. They don’t want to bring attention to themselves or sometimes even feel that the victim “deserves” it. Nevertheless, bystanders can make a big impact. It is their job to intercede for the victim and take control of the situation. They need to understand that stopping bullying can only start with them. Without a doubt, bystanders are a huge part of any bullying situation and it is often up to them to resolve the
A bully is someone who picks on other people, because they think it is the way to solve their problems. There are many types of bullying, there is physical, verbal, and mental. Children that are ages five through eleven began using verbal abuse and some even use physical abuse (Garrett 33). People estimated that one hundred and sixty thousand students miss school every day, and twenty-eight million missed school days per year, due to fear of being bullied (Garrett 36). Six million boys and four million girls are involved in fights from being bullied or bullying others (Garrett 33). Also, there is an estimate that over five hundred and twenty-five thousand people are bullies in America (Garrett 35). “Freshman, particularly are the victims of bullies in high school, especially if they are small and smart” (Garrett 31-32). Many people are bullied because of the way they look, or the way they act.“ Children from violent homes are three or four times more likely to become a bully” (Garrett 30). Some bullies may make fun of people because they were made fun of, beaten, or unwanted as they grew up. Most children become bullies to gain power (Verial). Bullies do what they do so they “feel competent, successful, to control someone else, to get some relief from their own feelings of powerlessness” (Garrett 72).When children grow up they may become bullies, because of the abusive environment they were raised in by their parents.
Bullying has evolved into a monster with many heads. There are many different types of bullying “traditional bullying is any type of bullying that is carried out through non-electronic means” (Differences between Cyberbullying and Traditional Bullying). Examples of non-electronic bullying are verbal, physical, and social bullying. Traditional bullying is what most parents think of when bullying is proposed. The one question that is usually asked is why? There are many reason why bullying may occur. “Bullies may have underlying psychological factors that contribute to their aggressive behavior or impair their ability to interpret social interactions” (Bullying at School). Bullying can cause another person long or short term problems throughout their whole life. Bullies are also likely to have problems throughout life, such as drug abuse, alcohol abuse, and spouse abuse. Bullying is not only wrong, but inhumane.
Studies indicate that bullies often come from homes where physical punishment is used, where the children are taught to strike back physically as a way to handle problems, and where parental involvement and warmth are frequently lacking. Students who regularly display bullying behaviors are generally defiant or oppositional toward adults, antisocial, and apt to break school rules (2013).
Experts say that bullying begins around middle school, where children are changing to young adults. In bullying there are three people involved the bully, the victim, and the bystander. The bystander also holds responsibility when bullying occurs, because they are present but never take part because they fear the intimidator. Often targets are considered to be “different” from others, and that consists of students having specials needs, being gay, bisexual, overweight, or most importantly students who are viewed as easy prey. When bullying is attempted it can ruin a student physically and emotionally influencing the capability of a pupil to learn. It is recorded that in the United States 160,000 teenagers skip school in order to avoid bullying, and one out of ten teens quits school because of continuous tormenting. In 2014 statistics in the U.S. showed that only 20-30 percent of students who are bullied tell an adult or the authorities. The only way bullying can be prevented is when schools make a great effort to create no tolerance programs, and effective rules. That will result...
We live in a society where we judge everyone no matter what, if we see someone different from us, we make fun of them, it could be either the way they dress, or the way they act, their color, their race, just anything. Judging leads to bullying and some times bullying can lead to suicide. Bullying is when someone or more people with more power abuse, intimidate, force, harm another person or group of people who feel helpless. Most of the people when they think about bullying they imagine someone punching other kids, which is called physical bullying but there are other types of bullying, physical bullying is the most obvious one, the second one is verbal bullying that’s when someone calls ugly names to other person, making offensive remarks, making jokes about their gender, religion, they way they look and so on. 46% of bullying in school is the verbal type. The third type would be indire...
The answer is simple, they bully so they don’t have to deal with their own problems, which is taking the “easy way out”, according to James Lehman who has a master in Social work. Bullies have not learned how to deal with their own problems, so they take it out on others. One source of bullying is at home. If children are seeing their mom, dad, brother, sister, or even aunts or uncles bullying people, that is how they learn to bully. Bullies use aggression, violence and even verbal abuse. They don’t learn how to solve their problems, so they just threaten other children instead. What does an aggressive bully look like you might ask? Well, they are the children on the playground not playing with anyone or roaming around alone. They may throw and break things because it makes them feel more powerful and in

It has been shown that envy and resentment may motivate victimization, other reasons to bully may be due to low self-esteem where the bullies cover themselves by demeaning others. Some study has shown that shame and anxiety boost self-esteem. The behavior may also arise due to jealousy or it may be due to previous bullying at some stage of their lives. The way of bringing up a child may also contribute to bullying behavior, this happens because the children tent to repeat the models they learn from parents. Lines, (2008).

Bullying is when someone tries to hurt another person by hitting them or by simply hurting them with their words. Bullying is something that can have a huge impact on its victims. It might be something that lasts throughout their lives, or something that might cause them to take their lives. Picking on someone should not be accepted because it can affect a person's well being in a drastic way. Bullying is believed to be a normal part of school life. However, when people begin to have that mentality they forget that bullying is psychologically and physically harmful to both the victim and the bully.

From as young as grade school, kids are worried about being socially accepted. The trend these days is to be the bully or be bullied. This is most common in schools. According to Jay Foster, author of The Social Nature of Bullying, “Both genders may be bullies, but their techniques vary. Girls tend to be more verbally abusive, while boys more often use physical intimidation.” Classmates will often bully one another often because of their height, weight, disability, sexual orientation, or even clothing. If one person sees another person pick on someone, that person may think it is funny and will make themselves look “cool.” They think that by them bullying someone else, they won’t get bullied themselves and that bullying will make them feel much better
The lack of parental attention causes a feeling of insecurity leading someone to acquit bullying. Unfortunately, adult role moles, parents, teachers, coaches, can build up tension in a student to generate them to bully. Students that are neglected, have divorced parents, or are around the influence of drugs/alcohol are more controlling and impulsive by nature. Those who have younger siblings are more suitable to bully in order to feel empowered. When children have an inadequate amount of supervision from a parent, they suppose they can get away with anything, like bullying. Bullying is more known in schools due to a student trying to fit in, and act “cool” in front of his or her classmates. A lot of people believe that in order to acknowledge power and popularity, you need to push the people around you to gain control. However, some children bully others because they used to once be a victim of bullying. Bullying can also arise from peer pressure through manipulation. On the other hand, bullies do not need a reason to hurt another, they seek fragile targets, and intensely desire attention. Also, bullies are not aware of their wrong behavior, and how gruesome it makes a person
