During my visitation, I decided to visit the Buddha Mind Monastery, which is located in 5800 S Anderson Rd in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The Buddha Mind Monastery, is one of the eight mediation centers in the United States, that is part of the Chung Tai Chan Monastery. I decided to visit one of the classes that they offer at the monastery for my visitation. The class was a level one Zen Mediation and Buddhism Class the morning of November 21st from 10am to 12pm. This class gave you the chance to learn about Zen mediation and the fundamental Buddhist teachings. To attend this class, you didn’t need any specific prerequisites, like other classes that they offer. This class was actually an eleven-week class that took place every single Tuesday for anyone who wanted to learn and become part of the Buddhism lifestyle. This class that I attended was actually the last class of the semester for Level one and level two will begin at the beginning of the year. During my visitation I learned many interesting things; I learned about different types of mediation, reasons on why the Buddhist mediate, and different rituals and lessons that Buddhist follows. …show more content…

The first thing I was told after speaking to them, was to remove my shoes and place them in the front by the entrance. Not only did the shoes have to be placed in the front but they had to be placed with the toes pointing outside. Every single person that wanted to enter the meditation hall or Chan hall as they called, had to follow this ritual.
