The 1-to-40 ‘Art of Kicking’ is the lessons training in forty kicking skills. The FOA Brothers knew in order to have a good, strong kick you must have a good strong foundation (Stance). The FOA co-founders had a pretty well foundation in kicking; brothers knew how to kick, so most of the concentration was based on the ten style step brick walk and techniques for the one thirty six striking or the 1/14. But if a novice needed help in the kicking exercises they would demonstrate certain kicks with ease. Most of the time the kicks were demonstrated during free sparring matches and for the FOA practitioners they would handicap themselves by only being allowed to use just kicks while sparring-no hands not even to block. If you had to block then you had to use your kick to defend off the attacks and sometimes against two men or an armed attacker. This type of practice enhanced your kicking ability and made you aware and an all around better fighter. When all the 120’ arsenal are combined 1/10 stance with 36 different strikes, 14 blocks and 40 kicks the person becomes a complete fighting machine, and all the FOA fighting techniques are based on the supreme mathematics, a defense for knowing self. Hackey Sac, or Footbag as it is commonly called, has only recently become a sport. Versions of the activity have existed in Chinese, Native American, Thai, and other cultures for hundreds of years; however, a formal structure for the sport was not adopted until 1972 when John Stalberger and Mike Marshall created the format used today. Hackey Sac now falls into one of two categories: freestyle and net footbag. Freestyle, like that of other sports, consists of a routine of difficult tricks completed in succession with a maxiumum number of difficult tricks performed in a minimal time. Net footbag resembles volleyball in its use of a net (although only only raised to a height of 5 feet), except instead of manipulating the "ball" with hands, players use their feet. The topics discussed in these pages will focus on the freestyle elements of footbag rather than net due to the more complex motions involved in freestyle.

Soccer is a game that is played a lot on angles and measurements. Most wouldn’t think that angles come into play when playing soccer, they just kick it into the goal wherever they can. To make a good, precise shot, you must take into account where you are in relation to the goal, and decide what angle would be the best to aim and kick for. Broer was the first to call attention to the similarity of movement patterns used in seemingly dissimilar activities such as the baseball pitch, the badminton clear, and the tennis serve. Objective evidence of such similarities between throwing and striking activities within each of the three major upper-extremity patterns; overarm, sidearm and underarm. The representative activities from these categories across throwing patterns also showed great similarity in the muscular action of the lower extremity. Atwater distinguished between the overarm and sidearm throwing patterns in terms of the direction in which the trunk laterally flexed. When lateral flexion occurred away from the throwing arm, and overarm pattern was used; lateral flexion toward the throwing arm indicated a sidearm pattern. The underarm patter is distinguished by motion predominantly in a sagittal plane with the hand below the waist. Each pattern involves a preparatory movement referred to as a backswing, or windup, followed by the establishment of a base of support prior to the initiation of the force phase and ending in the follow-through. The base of support in the direction of the force application; forward and backward is a distinguishing feature of skill level. It has been well documented that more highly skilled individuals have longer strides. Once the base has been established, the more proximal segments begin the force application phase while the more distal segments complete the backswing.

The class begins with middle punches. This entails bringing the left foot out into a sitting stance where our legs reflect a person riding a horse. The hip is rotated backwards then propelled forwards as the fist on the belt twists towards our imaginary opponent in front of us. Then Master Copper pairs each student with a partner of equal height to practice kicks. When my partner extends his sidekick, the crusty dirt on the sole of his foot brushes past my eyes, and the speed of the kick creates a breeze of stale air. In the middle of class, we incorporate the punching bags into our workout. The low belts use the tall, thin sun colored bag, and the high belts utilize the thick, blood colored bag. However, the black belts utilize “Bob the Bully”, the tan, lifelike bag with dense padding and broad shoulders. After six hours of school and at least four hours of homework, punching and kicking the toned face and rippling abs of Bob brings a substantial amount of satisfaction. As my knuckles make contact with Bob’s rigid jaw, I grit my teeth and each blow connects with more power than the last. A standing broad jump is a jump for distance from a standing position. It can be divided into four temporal phases: countermovement, propulsion, flight, and landing. In the countermovement phase, the subject squats to load up and extends the shoulders and the arms. In the propulsion phase, the goal is to generate enough force to propel the body forward. The person must stand erect in full extension of the trunk, hips, and knees. Then, the person flexes at the hip and the knee, which results with the trunk being rotated in a forward direction. Next, the arms become slightly flexed to hyperextension, to full flexion. Prior to the flight phase, the body goes into full extension. The flight phase begins as soon as the feet have left the ground. During this phase, the body stays in full extension or can become hyperextended. Towards the end of the flight phase, the trunk rotates forward in an anterior direction along with minor hip and knee flexion just before landing. During the landing phase, the knees and the hips are in maximum flexion and forward rotation of the trunk. There is also arm movement by moving both arms in the vertical direction to improve jumping distance. At the onset of the jump, the arm swings forward and during landing, they swing back and forth.

People define being influential as having someone or something looking up to you. Another way people define being influential is having control over something. Influence can be used in many ways, it can be used to make you buy something, or it can make you think different, it can also be used to help encourage people. Most of the time famous people are influential to the lower tier an example would be a professional baseball player would be a big influence to someone who is just starting out, or an popular actor influential too. Although some people say that having much influence is bad because it can make you become greedy with power but, Stan Lee proves that wrong by using his influence to help to other people in his life. He also worked very hard to show to everyone else how badly he wanted to make his dream come true. His dedication to his career proves to be a great reason for being influential. He changed the way people looked at comics and how they were created. He built his personality into the comics he created so that he knows that whoever was reading them would get enjoyment from them. Although he faced a lot of hardships and criticisms in his life Stan Lee deserves to be in the top 100 influential people because he used his vision to see others and himself improve in their knowledge throughout life, while revolutionizing the comic industry giving the world an abundance of content to enjoy and giving back to the people in every way possible.
After a thorough warm-up, standing exercises are done, with emphasis on the "ginga", and on the basic kicks: "bencao", a front-stomping kick, "martelo", a roundhouse kick, "chapa", a side-kick, "meia-lua", a low turning kick, "armada", a high turning kick, "queixada", an outside-inside crescent kick. Then walking sequences are done, with the introduction of somersaults, back flips and headstands, in couples and individual. Some more technical training follows, with couples beginning basic and slow, and then the whole class forms and goes for "roda" game for at least 30 minutes. Capoeira conditions and develops the muscles, especially the abdominal muscles.
This topic paper discusses the book Teaching the Nuts and Bolts of Physical Education, which was published in 2008. The accompanying CD-ROM with sample lesson plans was not provided with the book. This book is really a guide to teaching 17 manipulative and 8 locomotor skills that children ages 5 to 12 will learn in physical education class. I will briefly discuss a couple of these skills with a suggested activity. This is a handy guide for a future physical education teacher. There are drawings and steps for each skill and key words or “cues” are also given. Finally, there are “troubleshooting” tips provided to use when a child is not performing the skill correctly and suggestions for practice activities to help children learn the skill. Truly this is a “nuts and bolts” book. It is really more of an instruction manual. I will begin with the skills taught in the book.

The Olympic Games bring together individuals that are exceptional and impeccably dominant within their particular concentration of training and athletics. Olympic Games have an array of events and/or sports that range from individual to team competitions, and are either sport related activities or are combat related, such as fencing. Fencing is the sport of sword fighting, which was first known to be organized in 14th century Germany with heavier and larger swords, but fencing has evolved into utilizing a lighter sword for fencers to move much quicker in combat, competition and now a recreational sport (Slade, 2009). The sport of fencing is a combat sport that requires skillfulness that is primarily done in an indoors setting, where two athletes skirmish indirectly through the use of sword, and physical interaction is prohibited (Rio & Bianchedi, 2008). The swords used in fencing are the Sabre, Epee, and Foil, and the weapon in which the fencer is expected to use is centered on what they were interested in at the beginning of training or what the local club deals within, or maybe be due to what the coach specializes in (Turner et al., 2013). This sport prominently demands anaerobic drive within the fencers to produce high velocity action that are dynamic in nature and require a vast amount of articulation of joints and muscle force generation. Mental acuity factors are also crucial within fencing from mental preparation to tactical action conducted within the event to gain the upper hand (Chang, Regatte, & Schweitzer, 2009). Since not many people are martial artists and will have difficulty relating to Bruce Lee, we’ll look at the process of entrainment using a different example that most people will have some experience in. Also, since the process of entrainment varies with every individual in their various experiences, and will prove quite impossible to describe in abstract mechanics, our example will be a specific and isolated occurrence. The example will be of a student’s experience while studying.
