For this reason, he is a positive role model. Today’s society doesn’t put a lot of value on family and that’s very despondent. But this show portrays the importance of having family values and how with family anything is possible. An example would be when Corey and Shawn are fighting and Corey feels alone because his best friend is fighting with him, Corey’s brother goes to his room and talks to him and makes him feel better, his feelings of loneliness go away and is comforted by his brother. It’s amazing to see the impact of just listening to someone and how their woes go away. This is positive to see and provides the audience with a sense of sympathy towards each other. Fast forward a couple of years and the new sitcom following “Boy Meets World” is born. Corey Matthews is now a dad and the sitcom follows his daughter. She is well rounded and facing troubles that today’s young adults are facing but once again thanks to the positive role model that is “Corey Matthews” she is able to thrive and make the right decision. Family, education and a person’s opportunities are significant elements that collectively define an individual, as demonstrated by both Wes Moore’s. Wes Moore explains “The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his” goes to show that certain factors affect how you will be as an adult regardless of similar or differentiating backgrounds. (Moore xi).

In the new millennium, the concepts of racial diversity in multiculturalism have become part of the fabric of American discourse. Teens tend to connect better to shows that relate to them or something they know like high school. One plot that stuck out to me was the school shooting; a student was bullied to the point he brought a gun to school and took his own life instead of others. Growing up in a time where bullying is everywhere and dealing with a similar issue made me think what could students do different to to change someones life to make things better for them. As a teenager students don't think of the consequences their actions could have on another person.

Why Athletes are Good Role Models Ever since the ancient years, we have admired athletes and the hard work. that they do to achieve their goal of winning. We idolize them and wish we were more like them. What happens though when the realization sinks in that they are human too and that some of them do get greedy and selfish?
Athlets have been lookd up to as role models for as long as sports have exsted. There is just something attractive about the thought of being in good physical condition and being talented in sports. But, are athlets the kind of people that children should be looking up to for direction and guidance? Many children often look up to the professional athletes as role models. In fact, in 1995 Sports Illustrated for Kids did a survey for kids who were ages 7 through 12 about who their role model was. The majority of the kids answered that a professional athlete was who they most looked up to. Only four percent of the children answered that their role model was one of thir parents. Because of today?s media, athletes are constantly in the public eye. Everything they do on and off of the playing field. Some professional athletes speak a positive message through their fame by demonstrating constructive ideas such as teamwork and commitment while they are on the field. Even off of the playing field some athletes set a good example by visiting children in schools, going to hospitals, or even setting up foundations and organizations to help the ill and less fortunate people. However, other athletes are not as considerate to the fact that someone may be looking up to them, some athletes are not concerned about anything other than the sport they are getting paid to play and themselves. These athletes are the ones that propose questions over whether athletes should be considered role models or not. A role model can be defined as a person whose behavior, example or success is or can be emulated by others, especially young people. Who would want their child looking up to someone who has been convicted of domestic violence or has a drug addiction? It is an argument of opinion that cannot be settled.

Life is filled with lessons, and often times there are little reminders to keep those lessons in our minds for later use. Sometimes lessons learned in life are learned the hard way, like in Cole’s instance. One of the lessons Cole learned is in order to heal he must first right his wrongs; stop blaming those around him for his problems, and to forgive. To Cole, these were just cliché sayings repeated on and on by others around him who didn’t trust. He always brushed these words aside thinking he could do everything on his own and life only revolved around him. After being mauled by the Spirit Bear and having to survive on his own, he began to open his eyes for the first time. He began to grasp it was not anyone’s fault but his own he was stuck in his position. Cole finally started to recognize if he held on to his grudge against his father he would never be able to let go of his horrible past and start living again. Most importantly, Cole learned he could never live with himself if he did not help Peter Driscal. I think this life lesson Cole learned will forever be symbolized by the Spirit Bear. Without the bear, Cole would have never learned integrity and being trusted is real power, not the fake power of freighting people into doing what he says.
