Introduction Bodybuilding not only has evolved but, over the years we see how it effects many lives especially adolescents. As I research the concept of body building my personal interest in body building is my motivation. I also see this research as a stepping-stone into the future as my potential career as a body builder and what I should be aware of in order to protect my health and the health of other adolescents. As a coach this makes me knowledgeable and aware of the positive and negative influences of body building on adolescents. In order to research the impact of body building on adolescents I first of all looked at myself to see how bodybuilding has impacted my body and my mind. It has been brought to my attention that bodybuilding is not only physical but it is a mental sport. Through outside knowledge gained and hearing how professional bodybuilders look or approach the sport from a more logical stand point I have been able to have a better understanding of the extreme focus you need to be able to survive in the fitness world. For three years now I have been into fitness and even though my situation is not as intense because I’m not preparing for any shows or competitions maintaining your body is not as easy. Every meal and every workout is detrimental to how your body will look. Sometimes you just are exhausted you feel like you can’t go on; your muscles can’t push anymore weight or can’t stand to eat another meal. This is where your mental toughness plays a big role in whether you give in or keep pushing forward, “Whatever the mind can conceive and believe the mind can achieve” –Napoleon Hill. ("“Whatever the Mind Can Conceive and Believe, It Can Achieve.”." Goodreads. N.p., n.d. The name gives way the purpose, which is used to help anyone drop weight either for people getting competition ready to drop excess water weight or a person over weight who just wants to be a but slimmer. Fat burners raise your body temperature in order to drop weight; they also are good for giving extreme focus in the gym. Adolescents who use this may receive good results however some of them might destroy potential gains by not working out while taking this product; the product will not work unless you do. This can also put your health at risk as well along with the negative side effects such as dehydration and insomnia.
My teammates would cry and complain and quit. They could never see the appeal, and it was not until I took a weightlifting class during my freshman year that I found people who did; but they were all boys. For the first few weeks in the class, I continued to hid behind cardio machines and two pound weights, afraid to venture across an invisible barrier to the free weight section, bustling with sweaty boys in an assortment of Nike and Adidas. While other girls in my class sat texting on the recumbent bicycles, spouting gossip, I hovered closer and closer to the boy’s club, as I had dubbed them, rotating between weight stations. Then, on unexpected Friday afternoon, after an hour of listening to mindless drivel about fad diets and fake eyelashes, I breached the invisible line separating me from who I wanted to be. In doing so, I began a harsh journey of calloused hands, sweat stains, aching knees, and soreness in muscles I did not know existed. I has been two years since my evolution to heavy lifting

My haters are my motivators. It’s easy for me to be motivated because I have such an upbeat attitude. The key is to be as enthusiastic as possible when you’re training for your goal”. Andrew also responded to the question “What’s your biggest fear about Bodybuilding?” with “My biggest fear is that I’ll never be able to get as big as I want. I know I have the determination and the motivation to get as far as possible, but it’ll be a hard journey for me.” When Andrew was asked “Do you feel like you were happier before your started Bodybuilding, or after you started seeing results?” he responded by saying “Obviously after I started seeing results because let’s be honest, who doesn’t like looking as ripped as I do? My life has changed so much. Sometimes for the better and sometimes for worse but overall I appreciate how far I’ve come and the results I’ve gotten”. Lastly Andrew was asked “Who’s your biggest Bodybuilding idol?” and replied “Jay Cutler. I met him back in 2010 and he’s the most real guy I’ve ever met. He taught me a lot of motivational things that’s helped me out on my journey. I want to be as big, if not bigger than he is when I’m maxed out”. Andrew started working out the beginning of his freshman year in high school. He played football for 2 years, and
When one enters the gym; past the front desk, beyond the treadmills, away from the pools and basketball courts we see the heart and soul of the gym. The loud cluttering of dumbbells dropping, throbbing screams and powerful grunts define this area. Here is where any avid weightlifters destiny is formed. There are only two paths to take on the journey, and the roads they lead to couldn’t be any more diverse. One path leads to a physique defined beyond measure, where every muscle is visible along with the segments within them. This is the fitness model look, made of lean muscle. The other path leads to a physique hulking with muscle. Here the person is monstrous in proportion, since the emphasis is on size over definition. This is the bodybuilder look, made of muscle mass. The similarities and differences of these two “gods of the iron” can be seen through their workouts, diets and their results.
Resistance training is hard work and requires a lot of energy and juices out of the human body, which cannot be replenished as fast as desired; however, there is a solution to the soreness and the slow path to gaining muscle mass: Weight-Training/Performance supplements. Athletes across the world take performance supplements every day typically in some form of protein supplement, whether it be whey protein or protein derived from vegetables or soy-based. The determination of whether such supplements that are not regulated by the FDA have more positive effects than negative is still a considerable debate; although, the effects cannot be denied after ingestion. The positive effects of supplement use is far more beneficial than not taking them at all because of the increased stimulation and maintenance of muscle growth when taking whey protein and other supplements. Weight lifting has many benefits that include better health and a better lifestyle. This class has helped improve my own form and learn to take my weight lifting experience to a new level. My focus in this paper is to let you know how a few of the key things that I learned in class can help you improve your own workout experience. The things I learned was the overall benefits to me, how weight lifting prevents injuries, the importance of heavy resistance to low resistance, and the role weight lifting plays in proper nutrition. All of these are important. The role they play with each other is even more important.
Having been a part of this group for a while now, multiple individuals along with myself consider bodybuilding to have made a positive impact on our lives. In order to see if our situation was similar in someone who has other focuses in their life, a personal interview was conducted with Michael Ledesma, a full time high school counselor. He describes his experience in a very positive way in which weightlifting has become a part of his daily routine without interfering with it. When asked if weightlifting has improved his functionality he responded by stating, “ Yes weightlifting has improved my functionality. I am more alert throughout the day and am actually more energized when working out in the morning then opposed to at night.” Ledesma
Bodybuilding is a practice where through dieting and strengthening individuals enlarge the muscles of their body. Consequently, there are many health risks associated with bodybuilding. It takes a very big toll on a person’s health, not just physically, but mentally as well. For many years the sport of bodybuilding has been male dominated but in the last few decades, female bodybuilding has been making an appearance within the industry. Many believe that female bodybuilding is an act of feminism because it represents the transgression of the social constructs of gender roles such as what it means to be a woman and how a woman should look. For female bodybuilders, it allows them to take charge of their mental well-being and feel empowered.
Oftentimes people find themselves wondering what they can do to make them a better person through weightlifting. Then, they finally make a commitment into weightlifting and attempting to keep fit and they start to see a little progress finally, but it doesn’t seem like enough. Well for those individuals in that boat, there is good news. An answer is finally here. However, it must be noted that the following information provided includes information intended for male teenagers and young adult men. However, it is worthwhile for women to read this. Furthermore, women need to take this with a grain of salt as some exact figures are not catered towards women. Now this sounds relatively like a cliche, but to be able to make one’s time more worthwhile
The supplement industry is a multi-billion-dollar industry that only continues to skyrocket. Due to the increase, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has found it hard to keep up with the ability to regulate. In turn, producers do not have to obtain authorization from the FDA when they want to market or sell any nutritional enhancements. Thus, I think it is important to be well informed on these products, as well as how they influence and affect our bodies. Nevertheless, while a supplement should essentially be safe to humans, the FDA's role in regulating muscle building, weight loss, and other nutritional enhancements is principally one based off of examination and supervision. In turn, When the FDA determines that a dietary supplement poses a health risk to people, it can issue a recall or take other actions to limit the product's use or sale. Nevertheless, it must reach that point. In turn, it is important to be well educated and monitor what we are putting into our
Dietary supplements can be a good thing to use but they aren't always what they say they are. They are used by over half of all Americans and those people normally take a multivitamin or protein supplements after their workouts. In fact, whey protein is the most supplied dietary supplements among all Americans. People would also say that supplements are helpful when they become older in age, but then those people who believe supplements do not work at all. What they don't know is that if individuals take too much or too many supplements, it could hurt them and not benefit these people.
Fitness has been the pinnacle of individual achievement and perfection for ages. Through advertisements and marketing, fitness has received renewed momentum by people of all shapes, builds and sizes. People, through innovations in nutrition, science, health and fitness have engineered new and creative ways to get fit easier and faster. The market is flooded with products that claim to help a person build muscle, lose weight, increase adrenaline and improve stamina. One such product, Hydroxycut, has claimed to cause weight loss in a person while maximizing adrenaline and energy during a physical fitness workout. Hydroxycut has been used by body builders and athletes to help reduce fat, tone muscle and improve workout sessions. The effects of Hydroxycut vary from person and institution. Long and short term effects of continued use of the product have been under scrutiny. The fascination to become faster, stronger and leaner can sometimes cloud judgment and overlook warnings when taking supplements. The Food and Drug Administration have placed warnings on products for consumers on the medicinal effects when taking this product. Weight loss supplements like Hydroxycut can have an adverse effect on the body that can damage major organs if taken irresponsibly and for long periods of time.
According to many research adolescence boys are striving to become lean muscular like the male unrealistic models advertised in the media. For the last four decades media such as movies, men’s magazines, TVs, and recent the Internet has increasingly displayed images of a manufactured ideal male bodies. As portrayed in the media perfect male body includes narrow waist with large shoulders that give the body a V-shaped torso, lots of muscles and lean body to represent masculinity. Since boys at adolescence stage undergo tremendous physical changes in the process of full self development, the perceptions and attitudes toward their body appearance turns into major concern. Thus passion of boys having muscular male body type becomes common (Blashill and Sabine 445). Though peers and family have considerable pressure on boys’ body image, media is clearly the most influential drive for muscularity in teenage boys.
