Blue ocean strategy is a strategy that aims to make the competition irrelevant by finding ways to generate uncontested market space (Media Marketing, 2012). By implementing this strategy, a company is being forced to align their process related to production, costs and costs activities (Media Marketing, 2012). By utilizing the blue ocean strategy, Ambang Mata will achieve higher returns and also may continue to survive in the market.
One of the strategy being suggested was setting up a research and development department (R&D) may also very helpful in analyzing the current market trend as well as developing a new products. The research team may do more surveys to understand the market and also listen to the customers’ demand. This can help Ambang Mata to mitigate the risks of producing products that do not required by the market.
For instance, a research had shown that about 78% of the tablet-owning parents let their kids under the age 11 play with the tablets in their homes, and there are 54% among these parents said that their children use tablets for educational purpose (Techvibes Newsdesk, 2013). Among those that did not allow their children play with tablet, there are 20% of them said that they will allow their kids to play if there are more educational content (Techvibes Newsdesk, 2013). From here, we can be analyse that the parents are demanding for more educational content in the tablet. This is also means that the current educations apps that available did not satisfied the demand of the consumers. Hence, this will be a very potential market for Ambang Mata to explore.

Full alert in the changes of the market place is very crucial for the management to come out with the new strategy. R&D department will also work continuously to do more innovation and also creates new products line for the company to stay competitive in the market.

The main point of this article is that there is a new and improved market strategy method. The information in this article is meant to make the new generation and older generation convert to a new method. Even though this article does not have enough research and statistics for someone to switch methods, this article could open the possibility of companies doing further research in this method.

However, this vision generates an overlapping problem between the marketing department and the product development department. The marketing department, among other duties, is responsible for the identification of new opportunities and also to assure the development of new products. Unless these activities are extremely well coordinated with the product development department, there will be misalignment in the strategy of the EPD. Ultimately, this misalignment will affect a third department, i.e. the manufacturing department, since it is directly involved in the product development process.
On the Ansoff matrix below is shown what growth strategies for new and existing products and markets can be used from the company.
In conclusion, Blue Ocean Strategy is a book with promise that unfortunately does not follow through. Although the book is well-written in the aspect of professionalism, visuals, and evidence, Blue Ocean Strategy’s content is what makes it a poor book. After finishing the book, readers are left wondering what to take away, as the book was over filled with examples and repetition. More importantly, readers feel as if the content is self-evident and that nothing new or awe-inspiring was written. For these reasons, my colleague and I do not recommend reading the book Blue Ocean Strategy.
The first of these strategies that will be rejected deals with segmentation. Sea Goddess Cruises has not adequately considered enough segments in the market, which has been a major contributor to the lack of market share. SGC should eliminate all plans for monosegmenting. As stated in earlier reports, the segment that SGC is trying to target (i.e. lawyers, doctors, CEOs, etc.) is not large enough to make consistent profit. SGC must look at some other segments to a greater variety of passengers, which may then lead to increased market share and revenue. We have found that the current segment is far too narrow and complex. SGC may want to try and market more to the upper-middle class or middle class portion of the population. In addition to this rejected strategy, it is important that SGC does not oversegment in their efforts to improve the company. Oversegmentation is extremely expensive and a majority of segments do not have the financial abilities it takes to enjoy a Sea Goddess cruise. Also, the current facilities are very limited, considering SGC only employs to ships.

In fact, a few schools around the country have already replaced textbooks with tablets and have seen improvements in students’ standardized test scores. Using tablets instead of textbooks is not only convenient and helpful, but it can also reduce the amount of paper wastes in school. However, it is not a good idea to completely transform textbooks with tablets with the current technology, for it can not only be damaging to the environment and costly to set up, but also might not be effective in improving K-12 education in the long run.
