Legend of the Blarney Stone
When most people think about St. Patrick’s Day they envision leprechauns, shamrocks, bagpipers and beer – lots and lots of green beer! While all of those things have become synonymous with America’s favorite green holiday, there is also a lot of heavily rooted tradition behind the Irish holiday. In Boynton Beach, we celebrate the holiday with our annual Blarney Bash event by paying homage to the legendary Blarney Stone.
Many Irish folk believe that all good stories stem from a legend. One such tale hales from the region Northwest of Cork, Ireland where you can find the infamous Blarney Stone. The stone is a block of limestone built into the battlements of the Blarney Castle. According to legend there’s a magical

Each year people from all over the world flock to the Blarney Castle for their chance to be bestowed with one or all of the special gifts. Puckering up to the legendary stone, while leaning in a backwards position is something thousands have checked off of their bucket list or spontaneously endeavored.
We may be far away from Ireland, but the legend lives on here in Boynton Beach at the annual Blarney Bash event. No, we don’t have a castle or the same breathtaking views that can be found in Ireland. What we do have is a world of fun in store for you at this year’s festival, which is sure to be a blast for attendees of all ages!
This FREE event will be located in Downtown Boynton Beach at the Ocean Avenue Amphitheatre, located at 129 E. Ocean Avenue, from 4 – 9 PM. Green is the theme, so come dressed in your most festive St. Patrick’s Day attire for your chance to win our Shamrock Costume Contest. The bash is sure to entertain with leprechauns and other costumed characters, free kid’s activities, Irish food, green beer, and live music from Rogue Theory, SteelTown Religion and Celtic

Quanah Parker was born in 1845, the exact date of his birth is not known due to the times and the lack of recording dates like birthdays back then. One of the most mysterious places in the world, Located in Wiltshire, England in a wide open grassy field sits Stonehenge a lard circle of randomly placed rocks. Sometime around 1300 BC the first stage of construction began, many experts argue the different times of when Stonehenge was constructed (Historykings, 2011). The most controversial thing about Stonehenge is its use. There are many thoughts of what Stonehenge was used for, some thoughts may be based on their religious and spatial beliefs. Ok, you will need to know a bit about its' history. The origin of Mardi Gras can be traced back to Rome in the middle ages w/ the welcoming of Spring. In 1872, the appearance of Rex as the King of Mardi Gras brought about the presentation of Carnivals' colors, flag and anthem. The colors of Mardi Gras are purple , gold, and green. While they were probably chosen simply because they looked good together, a meaning was assigned to each of them by King Rex. Purple represents "justice", Green stands for "faith", and Gold signifies "power". In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, we will be celebrating by having a “Dress in Green Casual Day” contest. Please wear your favorite St. Patty’s Day apparel. Stonehenge is a prehistoric structure built in Wiltshire, England. The Stonehenge is the oldest and only remaining monument named in the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Stonehenge is a series of standing stones set in earthworks. Surrounding the Stonehenge are hundreds of burial mounds.
Background: Edmund Spenser was a poet who is most famous for his work “The Faerie Queen”. Unfortunately his ma¬¬-ster piece went unfinished. Spenser also held minor offices in Ireland. He owned and lived in the castle Kilcolman in county Cork until 1598 when the Tyrone rebellion burned his castle down because he was a tyrant who tortured and prosecuted the Irish people. He even suggested he favored the annihilation of the Irish people in his work “A View of the Present State of Ireland”.
