One of Turkle’s focuses is on the BlackBerry, bus she lacks in describing what the device actually is. For younger and present audience, the Blackberry does not have the same usage and significance, compared to readers of that time and audience. From describing it we can better understand what is and the effects of it. The BlackBerry that Turkle is referring to is a wireless handheld communications device released in the early 2000’s. The significant of the device was that it “offer[s] cellular phone service, wireless e-mail capability, and Internet access” and “the new ‘smartphones’ took the business world by storm” (“BlackBerry”). The Blackberry is used to make the lives of the busiest people more efficient. The reason that she uses the Blackberry, rather than other communication devices, is due to its popularity at that time. I wasn’t born in Atlantic Canada but Atlantic Canadian business certainly has had an impact on my life. My father has worked for McCain Foods for over 25 years and is currently employed as the Retail Area Sales Manager, Atlantic Canada for McCain Foods so it’s no coincidence that I was born in Kitchener Waterloo just forty minutes from Sobeys Ontario’s head office which was located in Brantford Ontario and my sister in St. John’s N.L. just two years later. I guess we moved a lot in those early years, if you call six moves in 14 years a lot, but McCain was growing and McCain always promoted from within wherever possible. In this paper I will discuss some of the reasons I feel Atlantic Canadians play such an important role in Canadian business and what motivates them. I’ll draw on some of my own personal observations as well as others from reference materials.

Also by having proper nutrition, the country can focus on health problems like malaria and even tuberculosis. He realizes that it is important that the people of these countries learn how to also be aware of diseases like Ebola and AIDS. In these countries illnesses like those thrive do to the close environment the people live in and the lack of sanitation of human waste. This also means that the development of fresh drinking water and a sewage system needs to be designed and implied. That is why Bill Gates’ foundation helps pay for groups like doctors without boarders to go over there and test and treat people that may be sick.
In conformity with this philosophy, the growth of telecommunications has made life easier for people across the globe. In Zambia, the mobile phone is the most popular telecommunication technology which is not only used to make calls but also has useful functions such as messaging, surfing to internet, and touch with video among others. In addition to the attractive unusual features, the clone phones are also affordable and can be bought even on the streets of any town in Zambia. With increased access, the majority of Zambians have procured cheap expensive looking phones or clone phones. In rural areas; communities are ignorant about the effects of clone phones and are only interested in communicating with friends and relatives irrespective of the location. Grace Zimba of chief Mafuta's area in Chipata District said that availability of affordable mobile phones has increased access among communities. ...nd usually the institutions and churches do not have the resources to provide a safety net for starving people. What we have found when working with the World Bank is that the poor man's safety net, the best investment, is school feeding. And if you fill the cup with local agriculture from small farmers, you have a transformative effect. Many kids in the world can't go to school because they have to go beg and find a meal. But when that food is there, it's transformative. It costs less than 25 cents a day to change a kid's life.” (Sheeran)
In the first world there are 9 million people suffering from hunger. In Canada, the HungerCount survey, organized by Food Banks Canada, counted the number of people using food banks and analysed their living conditions. The hunger issue in Canada has to do with poverty. Only 6% of food bank users own their own home. Even with social assistance, which over 50% of food bank users are receiving as their main source of income, these people cannot meet their basic needs. Child hunger is also an issue in Canada, where 37% of food bank users are children. When a household’s income is too low, the children suffer. Many parents don’t have the time to take care of their children and work at the same time. Although these facts are about Canada, there are the similar issues facing people all over the first world.
