Black friday
Introduction:
This essay is about the way people ruined thanksgiving with black friday. Thanksgiving is for family time and giving thank for thing you already have. Even though black friday is open, store should not be open on thanksgiving because employees can’t spend time with their families on thanksgiving and people get hurt and there are huge crowds shoving.
Reasons:
when you give thanks on thanksgiving you're saying thanks for things you already have and if you give thanks for thing you already have then go buy more your not being very thankful you don't need some things like that brand new tv you already have think about your family whether there really having fun
2.when you go shopping you may get hurt or even killed
Gratitude is a gift that the earth urgently needs. Consistent gratitude is a form of recognition of the gift and the giver. Daily gratitude can help eliminate the need for more and practicing more of only what we need. Gratitude leads to a society of contentment rather than one that's always in need of more. We human individuals have conventions for appreciation; we apply them formally to each other. We say thank you. “We understand that receiving a gift
It is seen in everything from the hoarding of material objects to the destruction of friendships, both of which are popular themes when regarding the topic of Black Friday shopping. Black Friday has become Black Thursday, a trend which has only shown up within the last decade. The great American holiday that is Thanksgiving is celebrated because of our gratefulness toward all that we have, a holiday that is meant to be spent gathered around a table of our loved ones. However, the retail holiday that consumes the day afterward has begun to overflow into our gatherings, and it is due to the greed of the American people. Were it not for the market’s demand for earlier sales, stores would not open their sales on Thursday nights. Everyone would simply wait until early the next morning to start off on their shopping extravaganzas, and the sales themselves would likely be far less violent as
Thanksgiving Day is a day of family, food, and giving thanks for the blessings in life and yet some people believe Thanksgiving to be a prep day for Black Friday, the biggest shopping day of the year. The focus of Thanksgiving shifted from family bonding to incessant shopping. This trend of taking away from the hours of Thanksgiving in order to shop is enraging. It steals away from family time for the shoppers and the employees. Employers threaten workers that if they do not work on that certain holiday, they will be fired. Black Friday should be kept to Friday instead of moving in on my family time. The whole culture of Black Friday has become repugnant and unnecessary.
Thesis (your main idea): Many people celebrate Thanksgiving, but not all know the real meaning behind it.
So many people complain about how little attention society pays to Thanksgiving. Every year for as long as can be remembered, the public has been gradually minimizing the amount of time that is spent celebrating this day of thanks and gratitude. This is simply because the whole country is more interested in the more important holiday that follows it: Black Friday. In fact, Black Friday is not only more important than Thanksgiving; it is without a doubt the most important holiday of the year. Only in America do people devote an entire day (now two days in some parts of the country) to fighting each other over department store sales less than one day after proclaiming their thankfulness for the things they already have.
Imagine having to work on thanksgiving. Not only do those people miss out on Black Friday, but also miss out on time with your family. They also get to go to work more than likely sleep deprived, deal with unpleasant customers, and constant lines. Curtis West worked as a Macy’s employee. In his 24 years of work for them he had to work a total of 19 Black Fridays. He said it wasn’t bad when Black Friday started off, because it usually meant going in at 5 am on Friday. Now for sto...
October 29th, 1929, was the start of possibly the worst time periods in the history of United States, and has since been know as “Black Tuesday”. This was the day one of the biggest stock market crashes the U.S. has experienced. Prior to the crash, almost everyone was partying and having a good time spending all of the money they earend in the Wall Street stock market. Real Estate was high and so were stocks, and over the last decade citizens had been investing more money than they had hoping the stock would continue to rise. This era was known as the “Roaring Twenties”
Early Black Friday sales should not be allowed because of these three reasons: workers don’t get time to spend with their families, Thanksgiving is a holiday and it should not be used for people to shop, and stores in the past never would open earlier than Friday. Instead of opening on the late nights of Thanksgiving and early mornings of Friday, many retailers like Target, Toys R Us, Wal-mart, and many others have decided to start sales on Thanksgiving day. Just like many Americans are asking, is this right? Workers don’t get time with their families “We believe it is important for our team members to be able to spend this time with their loved ones,” said Travis Smith, the CEO and president of Jo Ann Fabric and Craft Stores (New Haven). If all store owners thought like this, then there would be no early Black Friday on Thanksgiving and workers could spend that time with their families.
Unless you are one of the millions of “grateful” Americans who spent their Thanksgiving standing outside of a corporate store waiting to bargain on all the great deals that are offered this year, this time of year is when the Nation gathers with their friends and family to enjoy a Thanksgiving meal together. With every scoop of mashed potatoes and every plate that is gobbled, it marks a remembrance of those early Pilgrims who crossed vicious waters to make a new start. What is less appreciated however is that Thanksgiving is also America’s celebration of the Free Market, so make sure you take out an extra chair from the garage for Mr. Adam Smith this year. .
I really didn’t do anything on Christmas break and It was boring because we didn’t go nowhere and I was just sitting at my house doing nothing and all I did was just play my games in my room with some friends on xbox and ps4. When Christmas morning was finally upon us my little brother woke everybody up to go open present’s and everyone got every gift they got and I got a little long box and I said “ i'm going to open that one last ” and when I opened my other presents I went to get that little long box and when I unwrapped it was a apple watch and I was so happy because I been wanting one for a long time.
Stores open on Thanksgiving Day have caused controversy worldwide. Both positive and negative sides of the argument are being heard this holiday season. According to the article “Many stores look at the pros and cons of being open on Thanksgiving Day” it states, “Many big stores do enough business to make the extra expense worth it.” This shows that larger stores already make enough money to pay their employees when open on a holiday. Based on what I read, smaller businesses may not be as fortunate when staying open on Thanksgiving, but the majority of stores will not be penalized when doing so. In addition, the author also stated that “Workers have complained that stores are putting profits over workers’ time to be with their families.” This
There is two sides at shopping on Thanksgiving. One is saying it is wrong that stores are open on thanksgiving. People should spend time with their families not shop. People say that it is a family holiday not a shopping holiday. The other side says they like shopping on thanksgiving. They like it because there is deals that don’t happen a ton so they go out and go shopping. Overall, I think that there shouldn’t be shopping on thanksgiving for the reasons that vary. Those are reasons why people shop on thanksgiving and why not.
The people who celebrated Thanksgiving sometimes didn’t understand the whole point of the holiday, and that is giving. Usually my family and I have celebrated Thanksgiving as our own way, like we do every year. My parents would shop for the meal by themselves, and my family would do their own thing, like go up stairs after we eat for the rest of the holiday, and we never really have had a fun family Thanksgiving, like other families. Unlike the past Thanksgivings, I decided to contribute to help out with cooking, shopping, and other stuff this Thanksgiving, in hoping to change how my family and I normally spend the holiday. Leading up to Thanksgiving, I chipped in by helping my family take some stress off, by cleaning and shopping. The day of Thanksgiving I did things that I wouldn’t do every year, help prepare the delicious food for the meal, and also help around the house after stuffing our faces with all that food. After all of that wonderful time spent with my family, I kept on doing things
“Melodies are just honest. They can only be what they are. Words have the capacity for deception. They're all full of subtext, and some of them are cliché and overused and vernacular. They're tricky. All I can say is, words are tricky, Andrew Bird.” People today have been deceived into thinking that Black Friday is all about getting the best deals at department stores and etc. Black Friday has a much deeper meaning to it. What people are not aware is that Black Friday tides way back to the slavery days of America. People have been deceived about Black Friday for decades because they don’t know the real meaning, where it originally came from, and the effect it had on many people.
My first reason is that fights are everywhere during Black Friday, many people get injured and some even killed just because someone wanted an item for cheap. 7 people have died and 98 people have been injured. A man was trampled over and killed at a Target store. Another case happened at a Wal*Mart where a
