Credibility is an important characteristic to have. How credible you are means how trustworthy and reliable you are. I think my athletic trainer is credible. He is good at what he does and always knows how to help anyone who is injured so I trust he knows what he is doing. If he never knew what to do and could not help you he would not be a very credible athletic trainer. This shows that your actions can affect your credibility. I think Michael Phelps is a credible person when it comes to swimming. He was very successful though his credibility took a hit when he was pictured holding a marijuana pipe (Crouse).

Jim Thorpe had an incredible life and impacted sports history forever. He had a very interesting and eventful life and it all started out by just working at home, he never had even played sports before. Before long he was in the Olympics, Professional Football and Baseball, and so much more. He was an all around athlete and he didn’t know for years. The use of performance enhancing drugs improves the athletes’ performance; however, it may endanger the body’s natural mechanism. The body is an organism that is able to carry out its optimal function by how it is treated through the lifestyle, whether sedentary or active, nutritional habits, exercise and hygienic habits of the individual. These are altered by the use of drugs. Many athletes are oblivious to the reality of the grave effects of doping on the body and put themselves at risk for acquiring many potential illnesses, for example, “cardiovascular and liver disease, infertility in males and females and emotional instability – depression” (Maxwell et al., 2005). These reactions may be evident after prolonged use of drugs as athletes may become dependent. He competed in his first Olympics at the age of 15. Every time he swims he breaks new records of his. He is an American swimmer that has 22 medals. He holds the all-time records for the most Olympic medals in swimming. He is the world record holder for 100-meter butterfly, 200-meter butterfly and 400-meter individual medley. Over the period of time he has won 77 medals in major international long-course competition. He has won 61 gold, 13 silver, and 3 bronze medals.
