Debra Lafave
Debra Lafave, who also is known as Debra Jean Beasley, was former school teacher at Angelo L Greco Middle School, which is located in Temple Terrace, Florida. She made headline news when she crossed the line of teacher to sex offender after it came to light that she was having a sexual relationship with one of her students who was fourteen-years-old. At the time this occurred, Debra was twenty-four and married. She was charged with lewd or lascivious battery on a minor.
Now why would a teacher cross over from being a role model to being a sex offender? That may be something we will never really know. Lafave, was this beautiful blond who had a somewhat troubled childhood, she claimed that she was raped at age thirteen by an older boy. Then her older sister was killed in an accident caused by a drunk driver. She also was diagnosed as suffering from a bi-polar disorder.
What type of sex offender is Debra Lafave? She shows signs of falling into several different forms of subtypes. She shows some signs of being a fixated predator, a regressed predator as well as what is called Approach-Automatic. A course this is based on the different reading I have done about her on the internet. She does not meet every criteria for these, however; she does have some of the signs. Her former husband "indicated that Lafave cultivated the relationship for several weeks until she finally had a chance to get her target alone. Experts on sexual predators refer to this as "grooming:" The adult finds ways to break down the child's resistance and engage him or her in their scheme". (Ramsland, 2014) A fixated predator will often groom their victims. (Section 4: Subtypes and Typologies , 2014)
Yet she also shows signs of Regressed behavior. S...

... their victim, or victims. Both seemed to have a problematic childhood which could have affected them mentally to the point that they would seek pleasure improperly. Debra was never violent, while John was the opposite. There are a lot of differences between them, yet the both were guilty of being a sex offender. Lastly, not all sex offender will fit perfectly into each category. It is possible for them to have characteristics of several categories or subcategories.

This case involves a sophomore at a high school named Christine Franklin, who alleged that she was sexually harassed and abused by a teacher and sports coach by the name of Andrew Hill. These allegations were occurring from 1986-1988, a total of two years. These allegations included Hill having explicit conversations with Franklin, forcing her to kiss him, and forceful intercourse on school grounds. Franklin claimed that she let teachers and administrators know about the harassment and that other students were going through the same harassment. The result of telling the teachers and administrators was that nothing was done about the situation and even encouraged Franklin not
When she was falsely accused in her case, the FBI thought she was the one who started it all. The FBI didn’t look at all of the evidence that was found at the crime or what she had said. They falsely accused her of the crime because they thought she was the one that robbed the bank and did extortion. There were gaps in her statement, and she couldn’t think straight. She was saying random words because she was so terrified of what happened to her. The SLA brainwashed her, and she didn’t know anything after they were done with her. She didn’t even know what day it was, so she does not know what happened in her case.
Judge Mark Sanders used the teacher's admitted guilt to warn others about following in her footsteps, describing her "predacious" behavior in grooming the child, deeming her sexual assault on him serious even though it it didn't cross into sexual
Rape is a hidden epidemic that affects many lives world wide. It is a problem that is so terrifying and uncomfortable that people do not talk about it. John Krakauer, author of Missoula, focuses on this issue of rape in the college town of Missoula, Montana. His focus is specifically on the case of Allison Huguet and Beau Donaldson. As the progression of Allison 's case continues we learn of more and more rape cases that happened to women on this same campus. A majority of women do not report these cases, we later learn as Krakauer continues through Allison 's case, because reporting and pursuing the case would be giving their life away. [4] Of course Allison decides to go through the trails of Beau Donaldson, however it is obvious that it is extremely difficult to convict someone with little evidence. As hard of a read as Missoula
This essay will explore reasons why females such as Vanessa George turn to the crime of sex offending. Demonstrating my knowledge and understanding of classical criminological theory, exploring biological theories such as penis envy and more contemporary views such as liberation theory within feminism. The essay will then go on to look at the inequalities female sex offenders face within the criminal justice system in comparison with males, using chivalry theory and evil woman theory to explain this.
A South Carolina teacher by the name of Leigh Anne Arthur, is suing her school district after a student shared an intimate picture on social media, leading to her losing her job. On February 19th, a student was reported to have grabbed the partially nude photo of Leigh Anne Arthur, who is a teacher at Union County High School, from her phone when she left it on her desk while on hallway patrol duty. Following the incident Arthur resigned after the district superintendent told her she bore some of the responsibility for keeping racy photos private and gave her the option to go through a dismissal process or resign. A lawyer who represents Arthur, Jessica Salvini, told NBC News that she filed the lawsuit on Friday against the school district and David Eubanks, its superintendent. Based off a statement obtained by NBC affiliate WYFF in Greenville, Arthur said "The Lawsuit is based on the false accusations made by Dr. David Eubanks against me along with policies and due process not appropriately followed by Union County School District." In addition, after charges were filed, Eubanks stood by his belief that Arthur was at fault. Also, an astounding 17,000 people have signed a petition to bring Arthur back to the high school, where she taught mechanical engineering and computer programming. Despite the outpouring of support, Arthur has said she does not want her job

He is one of three former teachers at the school investigated for inappropriate relationships with students.
The offender was her ex-husband. He monitored her coming and going and wouldn’t let her talk on the phone. Everything in his opinion was stupid, including the victim and her family. His mentality of life forced her into a constant struggle. Her days consisted of trying to fix things to meet his high level of expectations. Everything snowballed and escalated from there. The be it all was his threat to kill her. After she heard the threat it was difficult for her to put on her social face outside. It became difficult for her to go home because she feared for her life. Work and church were comfortable settings because no one would harm her. When she would get in her car to go home, she would have panic attacks. She defined her life after the death threat as “looking in from the outside”. She uses that phrase because by the time he threatened her she pushed everyone in her life to the side. She was too far into the relationship to see that he was an improper companion. Those times were difficult and lonely for her to get through. The reason she was with him was her belief that domestic violence wouldn’t happen to her. She thought it would happen to someone else with a different background or a movie star. One moment she was mad for allowing the abuse to continue for so long. The next minute she would feel happiness because she was away from him and the stress. In her opinion, the sexual abuse was the most

In society, if your child went missing, you would report it and be a frantic mother or father trying everything to find their beloved child. She seemed to not even be worried; like she did not care. On trial, she then said how Caylee Anthony had drowned in a pool at her parents’ house. If Caylee Anthony had drowned why did she not call 911? Anthony then goes on to claim that her father did sexual things with her and that he had hid Caylee’s Anthony body in the woods, afraid people would think Anthony was a horrible mother (CNN

Sex offenders have been a serious problem for our legal system at all levels, not to mention those who have been their victims. There are 43,000 inmates in prison for sexual offenses while each year in this country over 510,000 children are sexually assaulted(Oakes 99). The latter statistic, in its context, does not convey the severity of the situation. Each year 510,000 children have their childhood's destroyed, possibly on more than one occasion, and are faced with dealing with the assault for the rest of their lives. Sadly, many of those assaults are perpetrated by people who have already been through the correctional system only to victimize again. Sex offenders, as a class of criminals, are nine times more likely to repeat their crimes(Oakes 99). This presents a
