Born on October 28th 1955, growing up unlike most kids Bill Gates didn’t want to be a firefighter or an astronaut he had bigger things in mind for what he wanted to do when he got older. He was seen as an awkward no body with brains but he constantly told teachers he would become a billionaire at some point in his life doing what he loved to do. Later marrying his longtime friend Melinda French, they raised 3 children together Jennifer Katharine, Phoebe Adele and Rory John. As his career blew up his friendship with Steve Jobs, founder of Apple, fell through when Jobs repeatedly accused Gates of stealing from Apple. This did not put a dent in Gates career as he is now known as the richest man in the world.

“Bill Gates IV” but was named “Bill Gates III” because his father felt as though the name made him seem rich when at the time grew up with litter money so he went ahead and changed it to “Bill Gates Jr.” The name was passed down to a fairly awkward kid, Bill Gates, not many friends and kept to himself so much that his parents feared he’d be a loner all his life. They enrolled him into Lake Side school, preparatory education, hoping the transition would get him out his shell and so it did. He started accelerating in every subject and even took up drama. At only 13, still studying at Lake Side school young gates discovered something he was fairly interested in, that software, it taken seriously in his mind so much that he started writing his very own computer programs. He surely had confidence in what he was doing that age 17 he sold his first computer program to his own school for $4,200. The program was used as a time-tabling system and is still used today. Being the genius he is, he also came along some interesting memories, being arrested is one, the billionaire came in contact with the law when he was caught in New Mexico for running a red light and didn’t have a license to show for it. Also, what are the odds that Bill and the great Steve Jobs were very great friends, they would go on double dates as a pass time. Two of most inspiring people were friends before the fame and the fortune. It was then that the friendship came to a stop. Continuously telling his teachers he would become very successful in the future, they did not doubt it when Gates took his SAT he scored a 1590 out of 1600, corresponding to an IQ of 170. Outstanding results got him into one of the top colleges, Harvard University. Which in fact he later drops out of to start his very successful career with his good friend Paul Allen. Personal Life At the high point of his career, net worth of $36 billion, Bill Gates stayed humble even when he has all the power not to be. He continued to fly coach, he didn’t see it as since he was wealthy his seat on a plan had to be in first class, that was up until 1997 when for his safety it was better for him to be reserved into first class. On his wedding day with the beautiful Melinda French he went all out, for their privacy Gates rented every room in the hotel they were staying at and chartered every helicopter that came close to where they were.
After marrying they had 3 kids and built a home inside of a hill to fit their needs and way more. Guests are to wear a pin upon entering the Gates residence; this pin changes the room temperature, music, and the lighting to the preferences of the individual. Also a 2,100 square foot library with secret book cases, 7 bedrooms 24 bathrooms and 6 kitchens, and a 20 foot high trampoline room Although that seems as extreme as it could get, Gates had a 17 by 60ft swimming pool with an under-water music system built into the backyard. Everyone being amazed at how unique this house is Bill went ahead and made a 3-D graphic presentation of his home to show just how big and expensive it …show more content…
was. Microsoft Best decision Gates ever made was dropping out of Harvard in 1975, he showed the world a college degree is nice but you can sure make just as much money without a degree as with one.
$250 a second, $15,000 a minute and $20 million every day is what dropping out of one of the best rated colleges got him. 1980, Gates develops a Microsoft disk operating system and 2 million sold within the next 3 years, and around the early 1990’s 100 million + sold. Microsoft fulfilled his childhood dreams along with giving the world something that will probably always used. A little unknown fact is that the generic silhouette outline in Microsoft Outlook 2010 is actually Bill Gates mug shot from his
childhood. Although it was at one point Gates and Steve Jobs had a great friendship, while Microsoft was rising up in the market in 1997 Jobs used patents to pressure Bill into investing $150 million into Apple because he believed Apple would go under unless Microsoft had a stake in their success. Actually before this in 1983, Steve Jobs was furious with Gates when finding out he was ripping off some of their ideas and adding it to Microsoft, Jobs confronted Gates and he replied with “"Well, Steve, I think there's more than one way of looking at it. I think it's more like we both had this rich neighbor named Xerox and I broke into his house to steal the TV set and found out that you had already stolen it." Legacy At the peak of his fortune Bill Gates was only the 6th richest of all time. Despite his $72 billion net worth he has stated that his children will only inherit $10 million each when he passes, he does not want them to completely have life handed to them. What Gates hopes is that his own children will find their way just as he did. “It’s ingenuity that will make the difference between a bleak future and a bright one” - Bill Gates

After having helped found what would be the world’s most popular and largest software company in 1975, Bill Gates officially found himself to be the richest man alive at the ripe, young age of only thirty-one. Gates had never imagined that the thirteen year old boy who loved to program computers in his parent’s garage would one day find himself to be considered the world’s wealthiest man alive, having a total net worth of $76 billion. Having began on his own, tinkering with computers and computer software, Gates later created the seed of Microsoft, or what was originally called Traf-O-Data in the summer of 1972. (Fast Facts) It wasn’t until two years later, with the help of his co-founder, Paul Allen that Microsoft was born, transforming the technological world in ways that the people had never seen. The birth of Microsoft changed the ways of old computers, making way for faster newer and more innovative technology, along with bringing on a strong competition with their rival company, Apple Inc. With this grand cooperation, Bill Gates was also accumulating a large mass of money, gradually finding himself to top the charts of the Forbes World Billionaires List. (Fast Facts) Despite being well known for his contributions to Microsoft, Bill Gates’ most profound impact on the American culture was in medical and educational advances provided by The Gates foundation, paralleled by his philanthropic views and aid in the lives of the both poor and wealthy.
Bill Gates had more opportunities than most kids at the age of 16. “I was very lucky,” Bill Gates said at beginning of interview (55). He knows that if he wasn’t given the type of opportunities he was, then he wouldn’t have been the successful business owner he is today. Gates lived on the computers, he was obsessed, he spent every waking hour on the computer. Through his hard work he created a very successful computer program, that is on every computer all over. He started his obsession in high school. If he didn’t attend lakeside, he wouldn’t of have had such a interest. Bill Gates is a leader and the everyone knows
Horatio Gates was born on July 26th, 1727 in Maldon, England. A military man from a young age, he served as a lieutenant in the British Army and then later served as a captain during the French and Indian War, where he fought in the North American campaign. Though he would return to his native England following the conclusion of the war, he sympathized with the restive colonial protests against the British government in the following years resulting from the high taxes imposed on the colonies to pay for their defense. Gates eventually moved to Virginia in 1772 not long before the break out of the American Revolutionary War, where he was appointed an officer in the Continental Army. Warren characterizes gates as “an officer of bravery, punctuality, and a nice sense of military honor, but with the fine feelings of humanity, and the delicacy of the gentleman” (2009, p. 240).

At just twenty years old, Bill Gates cofounded Microsoft with his childhood friend Paul Allen. He is now the richest man in the world with over $85.2 billion to his name. So why did Microsoft end up being way more successful than any computer program like it? The answer is because of the free enterprise system, and competition. Gate's product was considered new and innovative at the time, which made customers want to try it out.
On October 28, 1955 William H. Gates III (nicknamed "trey") was born in Seattle. His father was a lawyer (William H. Gates II) and his mother was a schoolteacher. He also had two older sisters who were in high school when Bill was born. Bill attended a public elementary school before he moved to a private school in North Seattle named Lakeside. Lakeside's strong academics enabled Bill to actively get involved with computers (which were the love of his life next to baseball) and use his superior intellect. This was the beginning of a long and successful career in computers. Bill combined his intellect and visions of technology along with his active participation in may charities to make our world a better place.
When most people hear about Bill Gates the first thing that comes to mind is the obscene amount of money he has made through out his career. Owning many different foundations, the most common foundation known to most college students is the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation that provide many different scholarships. This was the same year when Bill Gates and Paul Allen co-founded Microsoft. In 1981, Bill Gates’ company was hired to develop an operating system but rather than creating a new operating system they decided to buy a preexisting operation system called QDOS (Quick and Dirty Operating System) for the amount of 50,000 dollars. After modifying the operating system they bought, they renamed the operating system to MS-DOS. After MS-DOS began selling it brought in a steady income for Gates due to the fact that the PC market was growing and there weren’t many competitors in the market for them to compete with. In 1986, when Microsoft Corporation went public, it made Gates into a millionaire overnight. The following year, Microsoft released their first ever version of
Bill Gates has successfully changed two huge aspects of the world. His passions have affected billions of people, and he keeps going. Bill himself said this: "If I had set some sort of finish line, don't you think I would have crossed it by now?" (Bill … Quotes). Bill Gates has been, is, and will continue to be someone who works tirelessly to make
In his high school years, Bill Gates proclaimed that one day he would be a millionaire. He greatly underestimated himself. He became interested in computers while in the 8th grade. His school received a hookup to a high powered computer. Bill and his good friend Paul Allen used to skip gym class to use the computer. Sometimes they would even break into the school at night to spend time on the computer. Eventually Bill made his first program. A virtual tic-tac-toe game.
After completing their second year of college Gates and Allen had decided to make their own software company. They started out with Micro-Soft as the first name of the company but later took the hyphen. Gates had soon went back to school at harvard however he dropped out in 1977 before he graduated. On his time out he soon devoted himself to Microsoft and made it his full-time Job. This would help him find the problems and fix them. It would make the company a lot stronger and better. “In 1976, Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, two young computer hobbyists from Palo Alto, California, unveiled the prototype for the Apple 1 computer. A local computer dealer saw the Apple 1 and ordered 100 pre-assembled units. Over the next 10 months, about 200 Apple 1’s were sold.” (Musolf).
He had helped IBM with an operating system for their new personal computer coming out soon. “In order to meet the IBM deadline, Gates paid $50,000 for the rights to a rudimentary operating system called "Q-DOS" ("quick and dirty operating system") designed by a Seattle programmer. Gates and his team made some adjustments to the system and added some new features, renaming the result MS-DOS (after Microsoft)”(McGuire 1). Bill Gates had made his first operating system which was the kickstart to his new company called Microsoft. One problem he went through was when his amazing success brought him to court.
While Bill Gates was at junior high a group of parents raise money to purchase the first computerized terminal in the school. When that happened he decided to take all his time to work on that system teaming with other students to learn about different operating systems. He excelled in his learning of systems and he started developing ideas to make business with companies in order to learn how they make their terminals. His mind for busi...
