Bill Gates was a poor nerdy guy and switched to the richest person ever. He was a very curious and academic boy who actually attended the private school, Lakeside School. In his adult life he was accepted into Harvard, thinking he wanted to be a lawyer, but instead found he loved the computer and wanted to spend time with that. One of his greatest achievements, even though he hasn’t met all the expectations he had set before, is that he created Microsoft, one of the biggest corporations in the world. He was the most notorious in inspiring the thought of home computers. In the 1960s, while he and Paul were still in school, in the computer lab they learned the BASIC programming language. While BASIC was for beginners and created in 1963, it didn’t really fly until Allen and Gates produced a version for the Altair 8800. BASIC started the want for home computers in the 1980s and the computer software was used in many computers ranging from IBM, PC, and the Apple II to name just a few. When you look at Bill Gate’s career, its was all centered around Windows, and versions of windows power around 90 percent of the computers in the entire world. “It powers business servers, mobile phones, and even cash machines to name a few” (In Focus). Another great achievement he has was that he was one of the richest men alive. “Bill Gates was worth more than $101 billion in 1999; while Wired reports that, when Microsoft stock hit a high in 1996, Gates was earning $30 million a day” (In Focus). That was totally crazy, but this little nerd actually gives his money away. He and his wife, Melinda Gates have a charitable foundation, to where he gives most of his money too, for the eradication of polio. Warren Buffet gave $31 billion to the Gates’ foundation, “which already held over $30 billion of Gates’ own money in its coffers” (In Focus). “In 2007 alone, the Foundation spent over $2
