In the book Friday Night Lights by author H.G Bissinger, there are various themes circulating around, However, the theme of racism overwhelms the majority and provides sufficient insight into the social hierarchy and social structure of the town of Odessa, Texas. The book overlooks a group of high school students dedicated to playing football and their struggle with identity, culture, and race. Race not only affects social problems within the book but also psychological, economic and political. Friday Night Lights compares the tensions between the black and white players and the community as a whole, who idolize the game, proving that a single high school football team can shape an entire town. Bissinger uses the racism
As the lights flashed and the representatives walked down the red carpet the audience was awed by the sweet smiles and mature beauty that radiated off the couples. They respectfully encapsulated the love and Christian faith of our school as they all clapped for our homecoming king and queen. There surely was a reason they were voted representatives for they showcased sweet attitudes all night long, smiling, hugging, and enduring long periods of picture taking and never complaining. After the red carpet showing of our homecoming court everyone enjoyed delicious fruit punch and a couple slices of the cake all while talking and simply enjoying the beautiful decorations and hollywood themed atmosphere. When the mood shifted and Winter Formal began
The film Friday Night Lights, directed by Peter Berg explains a story about a small town in Odessa, Texas that is obsessed to their high school football team (Permian Panthers) to the point where it’s strange. Boobie Miles (Derek Luke) is an cocky, star tailback who tore his ACL in the first game of the season and everyone in the town just became hopeless cause their star isn’t playing for a long time. The townspeople have to now rely on the new coach Gary Gaines (Billy Bob Thornton), to motivate the other team members to be able to respect, step up their game, and improve quickly. During this process, racism has made it harder to have a success and be happy and the team has to overcome them as a family.
I understand why the principal would cancel prom. But at the same time I believe the school should still have a prom. Proms are usually when student get together and have fun. Teenager love enjoys fun events, which makes them a lot happier. Prom involves music dancing and food all together. It can also be a social event when friend can get together, young couples can get together. This school event can also bring memories to teenagers, and as they grow older many of them will see it as one of the best times of their

In Night, by Elie Wiesel, a rather prevalent theme of the novel is the idea of silence in place of justice. This is exhibited numerous times throughout the book, usually following a tragic incident where, in a modern society would be answered by punishment of the wrongdoer, but is instead answered by nothing.
town, and there's not much to do on Saturday nights," says Kelley. "So it's a big thing to have a dance." And dances, KayDe adds, are "one of our school's only traditions."
In the book Paper Towns by John Green, the reader learns many important themes. The main character Quentin tries to find his friend Margo, but he must figure out her clues. On the way to find her; he learns many lessons that become important to him. The themes of the story are don’t judge a book by it’s cover, real friends are forever, and always be yourself.
Certain themes present themselves throughout Charles Dickens’ famous novel, A Tale of Two Cities. These themes of love, good versus evil, and the class of upper and lower classes permeate the entire book. However, one such theme stands out. The theme of redemption also manifests itself in every part of the novel. Redemption and resurrection attract the reader’s attention because of the obvious biblical parallels. Dickens writes these themes into A Tale of Two Cities for this exact reason. In exploring right vs. wrong, he gave his audience a cause worth dying for, and characters who would. These characters, while flawed, still represent a very biblical worldview. Sydney Carton, specifically, dies to redeem himself, to further his cause, and to give their life for the one he loves. However, Dickens alludes to the theme of redemption throughout his novel. Using various literary devices like foreshadowing, and allusion, and through the character of Sydney Carton, he drives home his point.
New Orleans is an American city known for being very different from the rest of America. The differences vary in food, attitude, location, and atmosphere. These differences make New Orleans a unique part of America, but these differences come with a price. New Orleans has been through various things such as white supremacy in its early days as a colony, Hurricane Katrina, and others. White supremacy may even still carry on today. Our nation still does not understand how to handle New Orleans. Support groups and government have good intentions behind their actions in some cases but sometimes it just falls through. FEMA tried to help during Hurricane Katrina, but the politics within the organization made things worse instead of better. The federal
Mostly everyone remembers the ‘High School Musical: Senior Year’, the last of three High School Musical series. "there is no American director, faced with the hypothetical problem of showing a railroad crossing in Spain or an open field in Austro-Hungary, who does not solve the problem by representing the site with a set, built especially for the occasion, whose only merit must be its ostentatious cost." (1999: 146) Another director and actor to whom Borges dedicates his film reviews is Charlie Chaplin, one of the most pivotal stars of the early days of Hollywood. Reviewing City Lights, a silent romantic comedy film of 1931 that was listed among the 100 Greatest American Movies by American Film Institute in 1998, Borges calls Chaplin as “one of the established gods in the mythology of our time” (1999:144). Referring to the mentioned movie, Borges considers

It has taken 20 to 30 years, based on images taken in space of the Earth during the late 1960s, for people to realize that the environment ‘is like a bathtub of limited capacity’. Cities have been developing based on human culture whilst trying to be sustainable at the same time. Although it may be sustainable, the production process and the energy producing systems where they burn fossil fuels, contributes to the amount of carbon emissions that we produce each day. Green city is an expression for eco-city which is a city built off the principles of living within the means of the environment. It has been perceived as a concept rather than it circumstantially solving an ecological collapse like the ‘green Disneyland’ in Masdar City described
The city was blinding me with shining lights that you could see from space. It was glistening in the night and dull by day. There were cars parked all alongside the streets and traffic jams every corner.
