In regard to the CCP, its involvement would come in because the CCP still considers Taiwan as part of China. Since Deng Xiaoping’s era, the CCP has promoted nationalism as the new direction of the Party instead of communism. Part of promoting that image is ensuring the unity of China. This includes Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan as part of China. Therefore, this leads into the three possible reasons why the CCP places so much emphasis on using the name Taipei to identify the island.
NLP really highlights the great points of Chinse culture—such as the food. It shows how some food staples which define traditional Chinese culture has been preserved in Chinatown. It is important to note that there is a difference in “traditional food” and Chinese-styled American food; one tends to be rooted in more steamed based dishes using more wholesome ingredients such as legumes (bok choy and cabbage for example) while the other tends to incorporate large amounts of fried foods and minced ingredients [1]. On one of my visits, I had lunch at a Canal Street spot, Shanghai café, which catered to a more American population while still keeping in touch with its Chinese roots. Besides selling American food such as lo mien, it sold traditional deserts such as pineapple bun, red bean dumpling and egg tart. I personally found that block an interesting cultural gradient; in consecutive order, it had: a fish market with workers who only spoke Chinese, followed by Shanghai café which sold both traditional dishes such as steamed dumplings and American-Chinese dishes like lo mein, followed by a Chinese-American take out
The setting in the play all deal with unnatural things. The men are only in two places, either the office or the restaurant. The restaurant is Chinese one at that. Chinese food is very unnatural if inspected. Chicken and other vegetables and such are not naturally in the shape that the Chinese serve them in. Also the setting of a Chinese restaurant invokes thoughts of shrines, Buda's and other statues. There is usually a fountain of some kind that is coming out of marble or stone and is very nonrustic looking.
The setting also has many luxuries which would not be seen in a more traditional commercial. Which includes business attire instead of traditional clothing. The design of the building is also very modern. It does not show the culture of the country or anything that may have been considered traditional. Moving on the objects within the movie are westernized. This can be seen through the attire of the staff. They are not wearing traditional clothing, which should be worn by Japanese inn keepers. Finally the setting is also westernized due to the bedding the maids display. The bedding which they display is not the one which would be used on a traditional Japanese futon.

When we arrived to Chinatown, our first stop was to get something to eat. I was extremely excited to eat at an authentic Chinese restaurant because I knew it would be different than the Chinese food I usually eat. We decided to go to Phoenix, a popular restaurant that was recommended by several people who lived in Chinatown, and who didn’t. When we got into the restaurant, it was very elegant. There were glass chandeliers and tables with silk white table cloth. I really noticed the

Ibn Battuta once said, Traveling leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller. Pico Iyer would certainly agree with the quote. In his essay, “Why We Travel” he describes travel as a journey to a subjective zone. It is about the traveler and the place where traveler’s qualities and inputs are crucial since different people have their distinctive perceptions. Suzy Gershman, Jim Benning, and Rajendra Khadka show that they share different approaches from the other character within the story. This essay will depict the subjectiveness of the each story mentioned and how travelers distinctively experience the voyage into their travel destination.
