In regard to the CCP, its involvement would come in because the CCP still considers Taiwan as part of China. Since Deng Xiaoping’s era, the CCP has promoted nationalism as the new direction of the Party instead of communism. Part of promoting that image is ensuring the unity of China. This includes Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan as part of China. Therefore, this leads into the three possible reasons why the CCP places so much emphasis on using the name Taipei to identify the island.
The hotel lives between an American and Chinese life, just like Jing-Mei. She thinks of herself as an American, and when she looks at herself through a mirror she thinks “this girl is chinese?”This American and Chinese duality represented in the hotel and in Jing-Mei ties in with the two forms of love Jing-Mei has given her mother throughout her life. Jing-Mei respects and loves her mother, just as any other daughter would, but her American side often conflicts with Suyuan’s Chinese upbringing. The hotel brings in focus Jing-Mei’s duality and the consequences of it. In contrast, Rose and Ted’s house lives on the edge of civilization and nature.
The setting in the play all deal with unnatural things. The men are only in two places, either the office or the restaurant. The restaurant is Chinese one at that. Chinese food is very unnatural if inspected. Chicken and other vegetables and such are not naturally in the shape that the Chinese serve them in. Also the setting of a Chinese restaurant invokes thoughts of shrines, Buda's and other statues. There is usually a fountain of some kind that is coming out of marble or stone and is very nonrustic looking.
NLP really highlights the great points of Chinse culture—such as the food. It shows how some food staples which define traditional Chinese culture has been preserved in Chinatown. It is important to note that there is a difference in “traditional food” and Chinese-styled American food; one tends to be rooted in more steamed based dishes using more wholesome ingredients such as legumes (bok choy and cabbage for example) while the other tends to incorporate large amounts of fried foods and minced ingredients [1]. On one of my visits, I had lunch at a Canal Street spot, Shanghai café, which catered to a more American population while still keeping in touch with its Chinese roots. Besides selling American food such as lo mien, it sold traditional deserts such as pineapple bun, red bean dumpling and egg tart. I personally found that block an interesting cultural gradient; in consecutive order, it had: a fish market with workers who only spoke Chinese, followed by Shanghai café which sold both traditional dishes such as steamed dumplings and American-Chinese dishes like lo mein, followed by a Chinese-American take out

When people are asked why the travel the general answer is to experience a life different from their own. An escape from a person's normal life and to experience anew. So why when people travel do they live a more lavish life but one that is completely obtainable in their hometown. They don't experience anything different, they don't open themselves up to world and be in a new culture. Although some people share a different reason of traveling. To travel to learn and understand other cultures, to learn about themselves and what they are doing in this world. So how true is this, that when traveling to other cultures and regions it allows the traveller to experience new cultures, expand your knowledge, and learn about yourself.
The setting also has many luxuries which would not be seen in a more traditional commercial. Which includes business attire instead of traditional clothing. The design of the building is also very modern. It does not show the culture of the country or anything that may have been considered traditional. Moving on the objects within the movie are westernized. This can be seen through the attire of the staff. They are not wearing traditional clothing, which should be worn by Japanese inn keepers. Finally the setting is also westernized due to the bedding the maids display. The bedding which they display is not the one which would be used on a traditional Japanese futon.

It’s on Nathan Road where you can get anything you want very cheaply” (266) which are the positive review of his friend’s. It is the same place that they are discussing. However, it implies that comments of an individual are contrasting due to their various point of view. Moreover, when Khadka takes a taxi to the airport, conversation with the taxi driver also demonstrates contrary opinion by him saying “good place. Cheap. You enjoy your stay?” (270) and assumes he would have a pleasant time being there. After that, even though the taxi driver attempted to convince Khadka about his terrible perception of Chungking mansion by explaining particular wing has better quality than the one that he was at, Khadka seems determined with his mind. A friend of Khadka who recommend the place and the taxi driver both have an optimistic viewpoint of the same location whereas Khadka is in a hurry to leave the country. It demonstrates how travel narratives could not be objective due to how the people perceive the surroundings because travel is a compound

They have four seasons; however the climate never reaches too cold or too hot. For this reason, tourism flourishes all throughout the year.
