Being able to re-energize with a extra day off would benefit nine out of ten students. For one reason, an extra day off helps re-energize so students aren’t as tired during the week. Another reason why an extra day would benefit students is helping re-center their focus. An additional reason why a four day week would benefit a student is enabling a student to catch up on any work that they haven’t finished. I would vouch for a four day school week because we get up early enough during school that we could get more sleep over the weekends to keep up on sleep. A four day school week helps cater the overall health and improvement of knowledge in adolescence.

Out of 240 schools that switched to a four day school week the drop out rate went from 8.1 percent to 3.3 percent. Even though the kids don’t have to do their schooling on that day off it is highly encouraged. “The only downfall that I notice is students forgetting what they learned over the break. The teachers could assign little assignments over the break so they don’t totally forget what they learned”(Chiaramonte). More reasons why a four day school week would benefit the students is by relaxing.

I put out a study asking if our school should move to a four day school week. Of the 20 people that answered, 15 of them said yes to moving to a four day school week. The rest voted no but gave reason saying that they would forget to much of the information they learned or that one extra day wouldn’t matter.
Finally, In order to improve knowledge and overall health in adolescence, school districts should switch to a four day school week. A four day school week would help out with kids all over the world to help them with their knowledge. Without proper schooling how are we going to address problems we have in the future. Through all the research it still doesn’t change my stance on our school changing to a four day school
When it comes to our children education, we always should pay extra attention to the decisions that we make, especially if the decisions that we’re going to make are weighty and could have an impact on our children educational performance. In Jaclyn Melicharek’s article “Four-Day School Weeks: The Rule to Skip School,” she makes several climes against the four-day school policy, which is a convenient policy that seem to pervade our schools nowadays. She believes four-day school policy is ineffective and rather harmful to our children, teachers and staff because it reduces our children educational performance, deter the academic value that our children are obtaining and shatter the lives of the teachers and the staff. I agree with Melicharek

...on what they have learned by attending more days in school but not getting burned out on a traditional nine month school schedule. A few short breaks allows the mind to rest but not forget everything they have worked hard to achieve educational greatness. American society will achieve great things if the education system takes a step in all schools operating on a year round calendar.
Just the existence of an extra free day allows students to get more homework done and have more time. For example, if you have a project that takes at least three days to complete, and you were absent one day, this will give you extended time to finish your project. My next point coincides with my first one; that having an extra day without school “stretches” work time. This means that students will have more time to do a project or homework, which means that students won’t feel as pressured, which means that the quality of the homework is much higher. My next point also coincides with the previous point; that students won’t feel as pressured and worried as a two day weekend.
Students now have the opportunity to work another day to save for their future. The four-day school week also provides much more time for these children to spend and enjoy time with friends, and family, as well as enjoying extracurricular activities. There is a lovely environment for the children at the school and an extra day for the instructors to gain knowledge and a better understanding of their curriculum. The schools will be saving a varying amount of money that could be used in case of an emergency with money of any kind. Whether it is an emergency funding program, or money to fund an extracurricular activity. In conclusion, the four-day school week has proven itself to be a very effective form of education that Colby Public Schools most certainly should switch to within the coming
The other reason why we shouldn’t have a four school week is because students will have more time to get into trouble more.Half of high school and middle school students will get into drugs and crimes because they are unsupervised for a long time.If students get into crime and drugs at a young age they probably wouldn’t be able to get a job. Some of the students wouldn’t know it’s bad for them. The reason why is because some of the students don’t know it’s bad is because their parents or teachers haven’t told them about why it is bad.
School provides a lot of work. There are eight total classes in a semester, and sometimes it can be hard to keep up with everything that school asks of its students. Because of all the work, students tend to ignore the requirements school has. (For example, students will ignore due dates or study suggestions.) However, taking Fridays off (and replacing the days with extra weeks of school) will provide success for the students.
Relaxation could improve a students ability to think and therefore enhance their chance of excelling at their academics. According to an Indiana school,"Having one weekday off of school each week allows more flexibility for teachers and students." Students have an extra day to make sure that they do all their studies and still get extra time to do extra curricular activities. This also prevents homework and studying excuses students might make as a result of lack of time and abundant amount of homework. A five day week of school gives students a hard time as they have to adjust both activities and studies in 2 days. As a result of a five day school week students get less time to spend with their families, but with a four day school week they could spend more with family and still have everything finished and be prepared. Concluding from these chain of events, an implementation of a four day school week will result in a students academic growth.
Now days, normal American students go to school 5 days in a week. However, some places over the United States operate 4 days of school week system. Those school surprisingly observe positive changes. Therefore, American schools should operate 4 days of school week because schools can save their budget costs, and students can have more time to enjoy outdoor activities, pursue additional educational goals and improve academic achievement since students are in less stressful environment.
Have you ever felt like weekends go by too fast? Do you become tired of going to school five times a week?School can be exhausting and it often seems as though it is not worth the trouble. This is especially true when school is dragged on for five days at a time with only small breaks in between the next school week. Although a four-day school week may not sound appealing, students and teachers at Sturgis Williams Middle School could greatly benefit from it.
If Springfield where to try this they would save money. The district would be saving money on food. You may be thinking will my child's grade suffer? No, Many schools have switched and grades were the same and students god better grades in math. Peach county and Georgia tried a four day school week and the only thing that happened was they saved money, test scores went up, less absences, and a higher graduation rate.
School should be four days a week with an extra hour added to each school day because it would save money for the school system, increase student motivation, stimulate the economy, and promote student achievement. There has been a decrease in education due to the small amount of resources, causing classrooms to be bigger and children not being able to extend their knowledge. Even though the economy has been falling, each school district has been working hard to promote student education, which could mean trading a traditional school schedule for a four-day school week. Replacing a normal school schedule for the four day school week can raise the school budget tremendously. (Hart, Demand Media).
Because of the extra day off every week, there is money saved from things such as lunches, bussing, staff salaries, and utility costs. In an article about the advantages of a four day school week, it is stated that “Transportation costs including fuel, bus maintenance and driver salaries are reduced. Also, if facilities are used only four days per week instead of five, there is a significant reduction in utility costs to the system. Money spent to fund school breakfast and lunch programs are reduced by 20 percent, as is spending associated with all hourly cafeteria and custodial workers” (Bradley 2). In another article through the University of Scranton, they say “Transportation costs [are] down 35 percent, and utility costs are down by 8 percent” (Bisk 4). Based on these statistics, schools can save enough money, to make the conversion worth it. These are just some of the things the schools can save money on, there are others, but these alone prove that schools save favorable amounts of money when they shorten their week by just a
There are many opinions and studies about reforming school days. Some people are concerned that longer school days would bring more difficulties. However, there are numerous studies and practical examples that prove that we improve students’ performance by lengthening school days. Finally, the economy and our society will benefit from expanding school days.
Most children attend school for about 6.5 hours per day. Some people argue that this not enough time for children to master key concepts while others say that children spend too much time in school and on homework which leaves them little time for family or fun activities. “There are many benefits to year-round schooling—including consistency, less time spent relearning material, and the implications that year-round schooling has for closing the achievement gap” (Lynch, 2016, par. 1). Currently, more than 700 schools have extended their day. Massachusetts extended their school day so that it was 8 hours and found that they went up 44 percent in math,19 percent in science, and 39 percent in language arts (“Should students spend more time in
