Electronic cigarettes have been a massive hit lately in the U.S. market. E-cigarettes do not technically produce smoke, but they do produce vapor and are not much different from ordinary cigarettes. Even though e-cigarette may be considered safer than regular cigarettes it still contains nicotine and other chemicals that are harmful to the human body. E-cigarettes can be a positive measure opposite of tobacco products, but in the long run it is no different than regular cigarettes and could lead to negative outcomes. Thus, e-cigarettes should be restricted, regulated, and be treated as “regular cigarettes.”
E-cigarette is also known as “vaping” which vaporizes a liquid solution containing nicotine through battery-powered heat held in a mouthpiece of the device. The main difference between e-cigarettes and regular cigarettes is that e-cigarettes do not contain tobacco, but it does contain toxic chemicals that are also in regular cigarettes. Young adults believe it is safer than a regular tobacco product because of less harmful chemicals, but it has not been thoroughly checked to be safe. Consumers do not know the potential risks of e-cigarettes including how much nicotine or other chemicals are inhaled, or how it may lead them to try regular cigarettes. The vapor look and may feel like tobacco smoke and contain different amounts of strengths, from no nicotine up to 24 milligrams or more. It is almost the same as regular cigarettes, and it might as well be treated as regular cigarettes, but in a lesser degree of strength. E-cigarettes are no different than cigarettes because their prices are not cheap and are comparable to that of regular tobacco products.

...r reduce tobacco use, the FDA has not officially declared them a useful cessation product. In my opinion, if the law does not state it is of good use and beneficial to the health of the people; the product should not be considered safe and free of harmful chemicals. The American Lung Association in California advocates treating e-cigarettes as “regular” cigarettes.
E-cigarettes are often made to look like regular cigarettes. The FDA has also found in some of the e-cigarettes to contain toxins besides nicotine and other cancer-causing substances. Also the FDA has announced that it will regulate e-cigarettes as tobacco products, thus treating them as “regular” cigarettes. Even the law states that e-cigarettes should be treated as “regular” cigarettes, so why should the people think they are different when the facts vividly shows that there are more cons than pros.
Others might say that E-cigs are just nothing but water vapor and can’t harm you. But, what they don’t know is that it’s more than just water vapor there is a lot of poisonous chemicals involving the liquid. Electronic cigarettes shouldn’t be outlawed because they are beneficial for regular cigarette smokers. Some people believe that e cigs are not
...an be seen that they are a useful cessation technique- as stated previously 55% of people use e-cigarettes to quit. More research is needed into e-cigarettes to see if they are viable way to effectively stop smoking. There is a gap in research of long term effects of e-cigarettes due to e-cigarettes only being developed in 2004 4. Due to e-cigarettes only gaining popularity recently, few reliable studies with enough participants were able to be meta-analysed. It is also hard to give a reliable conclusion for this topic as there are different brands of e-cigarettes each containing varying concentrations of nicotine which wont change until they are regulated as medicinal products. At the moment the studies suggest that e-cigarettes are no better than other NRT’s. E-cigarettes could be a viable, useful and cost effective way to help reduce smoking- if they are regulated
According to Knight (2013), ‘E-cigarettes look like real cigarettes and usually consist of a battery, a cartridge containing nicotine (the addictive ingredient in tobacco), a solution of propylene glycol or glycerine mixed with water, and an atomiser (a device that turns the nicotine solution into a fine mist or vapour)’.
From my late teens, into my mid-twenties, I was a smoker. At first, it was just recreational; however that changed fairly quickly. I began buying them and smoking regularly throughout the day. It then progressed to smoking a pack per day until it was too late. I was officially addicted. I knew it was a terrible habit and I was shamed of it and would hide it from friends and family hoping they wouldn’t find out. Finally, after coughing hacking, and repeatedly getting sick several times a year, I came to the realization that I had to quit. However, it wasn’t as easy as I had anticipated. After relapsing several times before I was finally able to quit, I broke this terrible habit successfully. It was an extremely difficult habit to break and I’ll never go back. I was a lucky individual who had the mental toughness and willpower to overcome this strong addiction, but Americans struggle to quit each year, and many never do. However, there’s a new product on the market today called electronic cigarettes that are believed to aid individuals in the fight against addiction. It’s a battery powered device that heats a nicotine diluted solution into a vapor that is then inhaled. It’s believed to be a healthier, more affordable alternative to tobacco cigarettes. It is much safer because it doesn’t have nearly as many harmful chemicals as tobacco cigarettes and it’s believed to be much more affordable for consumers. However, many critics believe that electronic cigarettes are extremely addictive and just as harmful. Although electronic cigarettes are believed to be detrimental to people’s heath due to low quality product standards, harmful components in filling solution, and reports suggesting they’re addictive and just as harmful as toba...
There is a new trend hitting the market known as e-cigarettes, or “vaping.” Many people believe that e-cigarettes are better than traditional cigarettes, but research shows just how unhealthy and harmful e-cigarettes are for everyone. The FDA has not yet decided if e-cigarettes should be regulated like tobacco products. E-cigarettes are marketed to help people quit smoking and live a healthier nonsmoking life. E-cigarettes are meant to help break the habit of smoking, but why are there so many “toxic chemicals” (Gilger) in the vapor? Is this new invention to help people quit smoking or just another way for tobacco companies to get richer?
They might not contain as many harmful chemicals in actual cigarettes, but there are still some nasty kinds of health and danger risks that lure in vapes. It might be still early in the game for vapes, but as time goes on, people find out more and more that vapes are really dangerous for humans. As said in previous paragraphs, things like this can still be worked and improved on to make vapes more safe for users at all times. Though vape companies say they are “safe”, the outcome of vaping can be really bad, and at the end of the day maybe staying away from vapes is safer than anything
Smoking tobacco in the cigarette form was extremely popular in the early part of the 20th century. Many people joined in the popular habit, got addicted, and had no fear of the future consequences or health concerns. Many people were under the impression that smoking was good for their bodies, and were unaware of the unhealthy side affects that cigarette smoking caused. Some famous people like Walt Disney, Ty Cobb, and Babe Ruth all were killed from their love of tobacco. Soon enough more and more cases of lung, throat, and mouth cancers began popping up all over the place, but people were reluctant to blame their beloved tobacco. It wasn’t until 1964 when Surgeon General Luther Terry stated that smoking causes lung cancer in people who smoke and inhale the fumes, that perceptions on smoking began to change. Since the findings of the Surgeon General, there has been an on going battle between pro-smoking, and anti-smoking groups over the rights of smokers. As the non smoking movement is growing at a rapid pace, and smoking bans have been ruled to not violate the 1st Amendment. In the last decade we have banned smoking in almost all public areas from bars and restaurants, offices, malls, and living quarters. The smoking bans are one effective way to abolish smoking, but it fails to address the major component in smoking; addiction to nicotine, and the psychological effect it has on users. Unfortunately, there isn’t an easy way to end smoking. This is because treatment plans have such a small level of success. Medical treatment such as prescription medication often have more side effects than positive effects for the user. But one product has been making huge gains in the fight to quit tobacco, and that is the electronic cigarette...
Almost everyone knows the health risks involved with smoking tobacco. Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) give habitual smokers the most promising results of tobacco reduction or cessation. There are some that disagree with the use of e-cigarettes however; the benefits are exceptional for those looking to quit this habit. It significantly lowers their health risks related with smoking tobacco and, unlike cigarettes, it does not release any harmful toxic chemical substances. E-cigarettes are also more cost efficient than buying a pack of cigarettes. Although there are some that oppose the use of the economical e-cigarettes, the advantages are greater because
Over time, the need for a cigarette increases and the harder it becomes to quit smoking. Some users turn to smoking alternatives in order to quit. The first thing a smoker will reach for is something that looks and feels similar to a normal cigarette. Electronic cigarettes or “e-cigs” were made to resemble the taste and feeling that a tobacco cigarette gives. These combustible cigarettes use water vapor combined with nicotine to re-create the high levels of tobacco.... ...
Now let’s talk about all the reasons why e-cigarettes aren’t as safe as sellers make them seem. Starting with toxins, there are tons of them in regular cigarettes, but guess what else does? E-Cigarettes. They have cancer causing toxins, toxins called acrylonitrile and acrylamide, along with the plethora of other toxins that are unknown yet. Although they have approximately 1000 times less carcinogens than conventional cigarettes, any carcinogens going into your body are never good.

Most recently, a new form of a cigarette has been introduced to the market. The electronic cigarette or the e-cigarette is a new sensation form of a cigarette. E-cigarette is an electrical device that produces an inhaled mist which excites the tobacco smoking act. E-cigarette has the physical sensation, outlook, and the flavor of a tobacco cigarette. The nicotine content is also believed to equal that of a tobacco cigarette. In order to va...
Everyone knows that cigarettes are horrible for your health and increase your risks of cancer. Not too long ago there was a big advertisement for e-cigarettes also known as vaping. It was advertised to be a healthier alternative and comparable to a nicotine patch to help you quit smoking. Many people began to question this new form of smoking and if it was really a safer alternative. Even though vaping is a safer alternative than smoking, vaping is not harmless because you are still getting nicotine, inhaling poison and risking a weaker immune system.
One of the biggest problems with society today is children and young adults are turning to electronic cigarettes for a source to nicotine. It is understood that some people might think that electronic cigarettes are better for people but here is why they are not. Electronic cigarettes have the same consequences as normal cigarettes with very few differences, such as in electronic cigarettes there is no tobacco and there is no carbon monoxide. Some might not know what is really in electronic cigarettes. Many people don’t know that there are over seven thousand chemicals and cartridges in these devices. Smoking electronic cigarettes has the same effects as normal cigarettes; they as well have been known to cause cancer and other diseases. Here is why electronic cigarettes are just as bad for the human body as
A study from Hatsukami and colleagues (2010) about reducing the levels of nicotine in tobacco, in order to help prevent addiction and help wean off the habit brought a different alternative to quit tobacco. A new technology has arrived and it has been beneficial by weaning off smokers from nicotine and it is called the electronic cigarette. According to Stifferlin (2014), “researchers found that based on the evidence, e-cigs are much less harmful to smokers and bystanders compared to conventional cigarettes” and researchers also found “that e-cigs can help some users cut down on their use of regular cigarettes and even quit.” Due to the fact that e-cigs are fairly new, researchers are still unaware the health issues it may bring. Currently e-cigs are better than a traditional cigarette because of the fewer toxins it
