The bored and brilliant challenge has daily challenges that lessen the use of a cell phone, and allow ourselves to be bored. According to wnyc.org boredom is benifical to humans. Boredom allows people to be creative, to reflect and to grow as individuals. The only issue is that now people are never bored. With phones people have ways to constantly entertain themselves. So, with the bored and brilliant challenge people got to see what it was like being bored with little and no phone usage for the span of 6 days with each challenge getting more “difficult”.
The day 1 challenge was to keep your phone in your pocket or bag while in transit. This one was not that hard for me because I don’t go on my phone a lot in the hallways or in cars. It was awesome not going on social media or not answering texts for awhile. Granted I did come back to a bunch of texts and snapchats that I had to go through and respond to which was a little annoying because it took awhile for me to respond to everyone. After this challenge I actually take the time to put my phone away. I put it upstairs in my room charging for a couple hours while I go and do other things that way I am not constantly on my phone. It is nice not constantly checking my phone for snapchats, texts, calls, etc. Day 5 this day we just had to people watch. This challenge made me realize how often people are on electronics. It is constant for people, the second they feel any ounce of boredom they take out their phones. I think it is actually really sad how often people are on their phones because they really do miss out on seeing a lot. I think that people are on their phones way too much and that they should take a break from it all once in awhile. Now as I mentioned earlier I try and take breaks from my phone a couple hours a
