My teammates would cry and complain and quit. They could never see the appeal, and it was not until I took a weightlifting class during my freshman year that I found people who did; but they were all boys. For the first few weeks in the class, I continued to hid behind cardio machines and two pound weights, afraid to venture across an invisible barrier to the free weight section, bustling with sweaty boys in an assortment of Nike and Adidas. While other girls in my class sat texting on the recumbent bicycles, spouting gossip, I hovered closer and closer to the boy’s club, as I had dubbed them, rotating between weight stations. Then, on unexpected Friday afternoon, after an hour of listening to mindless drivel about fad diets and fake eyelashes, I breached the invisible line separating me from who I wanted to be. In doing so, I began a harsh journey of calloused hands, sweat stains, aching knees, and soreness in muscles I did not know existed. I has been two years since my evolution to heavy lifting

People often go through their life working-out and going to the gym to get “buff.” For ninety-five percent of Americans that do work out, few can say that they have pushed themselves as hard as possible, but I have the distinct, and often painful, pleasure of knowing that there is another way to work out. The focus of this paper is mechanically and automatically break down the deadlift. It focuses on the four phases of the deadlift (The lift off, pull through, the lockout, and the lowering phase) as well as the muscles involved in lifting and lowering the load. The sole purpose of the deadlift is for health and fitness. It is a core lift that works nearly every muscle in the body. Muscles from the lower and upper extremities will go through a period of flexion and extension when moving through the phases. The deadlift should be performed safely, and with proper form to avoid injury. This paper shows and demonstrates the proper form of the deadlift. There are also a number of forces acting on the load and the athlete. Gravity and external forces will be an active part of lifting the load. Images and tables are provided in the paper to better understand the movements and muscles used when performing the deadlift.

To reach these peaks in human physique, each person must be a frequent gym attendee. There is no 5 min a day abs exercise, no 15-minute a day run, and no 3 month plan for this. These two body types spend on average 5-6 days at the gym, sometimes even two times a day. There is no easy way out of it. These two are similar in that they have to devote their lives to it. Bodybuilding emerged in the late 1800s and early 1900s made popular by a man named Eugene Sandow, who was also considered the first bodybuilder. Bodybuilding not only has evolved but, over the years we see how it effects many lives especially adolescents. As I research the concept of body building my personal interest in body building is my motivation. I also see this research as a stepping-stone into the future as my potential career as a body builder and what I should be aware of in order to protect my health and the health of other adolescents. As a coach this makes me knowledgeable and aware of the positive and negative influences of body building on adolescents.
The Mr. Olympia stage in bodybuilding is the crest of achievement one may hope to reach if they are passionate enough to get there. This world title earning competition was created by a man, Joe Weider, to bring the most accomplished bodybuilders from all over the planet to see who has the most developed physique and promote to health and fitness globally to all people.
