Identifying a career plan early on is a key to having success in reaching your career goals. When it comes to laying out a plan for achieving your career goal you need to realistically look at what you want to achieve and the steps necessary to achieve each goal. Another crucial aspect is looking at how new technologies will affect your chosen career path, by doing this you will be able to pick at career choice that will continue in the future. You obviously wouldn’t want to choose a job that will be easily replaced by changes in technologies. As far as my career choice of becoming a Physician Assistant will not be a job that will easily be replaced by technology advances. Technology advances in the short term will have some effect on the job currently the technology advances are making it much easier to diagnose patients. In terms of long term advances in technology in could be affect more and more, things like robotic assisted surgeries, and advances in Nano-technology could change the way patients are treated altogether. Technology will have some effect on just about any job out there.
To achieve my career goal, I need to setup a plan and layout the time plan to achieve each step in my plan. Having a realistic career plan in place is often an essential part of our personal growth and development. The average Medical Laboratory Technologist makes about 50,500 dollars per year (bls.gov) I am giving myself 2-3 years to finish my degree as part pf my career plan. Once I obtain my degree the next step in my career goals is to become an officer in the United States Army, to do this I will need to build an application packet for commissioning. This detailed packet will go over my military career with the things that I have achieved during my career, it will also have different letters of recommendation from varying officers in my chain of command. The letters of recommendation must come from my Company Commander, and Battalion Commander. In these letters, they will include my potential as an officer in the Army, my commanders will be able to determine this based on my work performance so I must always be cognizant of my performance at work to show my qualities as a leader.
