Becoming a Neonatal Nurse requires preparation and research, including: relevant career-related information; the education and training needed; and current trends or changes in the future for the career.
Currently being in clinicals is allowing me to gain experience in the medical field while working with patients. It might be hard getting up in the mornings, but It is worth it. Seeing my patients in the morning puts a smile on my face, knowing they are giving me their time and life for me to work with them. In clinicals I have been able to wake up and shower, and feed a patient without any problems. Before graduating high school, I will be a certified nursing assistant and then I will be able to start looking for a place to work at while looking for a college. I’m not quite sure if I will be going to West Georgia or Georgia Highlands for college. I haven’t decided yet because me traveling back forth for about an hour would be kind of hard and would be a lot of gas wasted every day, so I just plan on going somewhere I won’t have a long ride.

One of the duties would be changing, feeding tubes, administering medication, performing intubations and the reason they often change their feeding tube is because there’s a certain amount of time it can be on then it will start an infection. Everything you do won’t be medical in nature they might be some days where you will sit there and hold or rock babies, feed from the bottles and changing diapers when the parents aren’t able to go and spend time with their babies. Another reason you might just sit there and give the babies physical, emotional and social interaction so they won’t feel lonely. Some of the skills you need for this job is to have interest with newborn babies. Also having a good psychological and physiological needs of the newborns.
