Becker uses the definition of the word deviance, the question that is typically asked as an outsider is why do they do it? That being said what leads these individuals to do “forbidden things” as Becker said. Nobody questions the concept of the word deviant, in other words they overlook it. Becker questions the word deviance and wonders who is deciding the process of the word deviance and who decides it and how they decide it. The first argument of the view of deviance is a statistical definition of the word deviance, that anything that is statistical. The second definition is the pathological deviance a metaphor for an illness, a disease, it is hard to know what a healthy behavior is or what is a sick behavior as Becker try to prove, he says
