Beauty and the Beast is a musical I saw on October 2, 2015 in Charlotte at the Belk Theater. This production was put on by Blumenthal Preforming Arts. Those who attended were expected to wear formal attire. Men, mostly, wore kakis or slacks, with a button down shirt, and some wore sports coats. Women, except for a select few wore dresses, heels, and a coat. The cast consisted of Sam Hartley, Brooke Quintana, Thomas Mothershed, Ryan Phillips, Samuel Shurtleff, Stephanie Gray, Stephanie Gilmore, Christiaan Smith-Kotlarek, among many others. The orchestra consisted of a percussion, woodwind, and strings section. The song that stood out to me the most in this musical was “Gaston” the use of comedy, solos, and metal cups as accents to the music. In this scene Christiaan Smith-Kotlarek, Gason, and Thomas Mothershed, Maurice, alternate taking solos and occasionally …show more content…
Potts, and Ryan Phillips, Lumiere. During theis scene Adam is trying to becomes friends with Beauty. Ms. Potts and Lumiere are watching Belle and Adam together and begin to notice the are falling in love, yet neither one of them realize it. This song made the audience fell hopeful that the two would fall in love, if the two fell in love then the rest of the characters could become human again. The dynamics of the song help show how startled Belle was that she was starting to like him by singing softly and lightly and how much those in the house, who were cursed also, hoped and were excited that there was a possibility for them to be human because of the intensity in which they sang. The tempo of this song is slightly slower compared to the other songs sang during the musical. The characters are thinking about what is going on instead to just saying what is going on. I believe by slowing down the tempo it helped the audience hear the lyrics better which in turn made them feel more
The play, “Beauty”, explains the story about two foolish girls, fighting over a magical wish to receive a feature that each other has. Although it is heart wrenching that each of these girls are begging to change their features, it shows us the play’s underlying message;Their will always be problems that affect us. The author of the story, Jane Martin, shows us this simple message along with a comical aspect.
On Friday November 15, 2013, I attended a concert that I found very interesting. It took place at 7:30 pm at the First Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. The group performing was the Erie Chamber Orchestra but as a special the Slippery Rock University Concert Choir was also there.
A lovable, heartwarming story of love is one of “ Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”. A story of seven men who have no guidance find themselves in love. The two main characters in the play are Adam and Millie. By being husband and wife they help the story out with their own love and romance. The seven brothers fall in love with seven beautiful woman and through out the play we see al the ways they try to get their gals. The singing in this play helps us figure out the songs: “Bless Your Beautiful Hide”, “Goin Courtin”, and “Sobbin Woman”. The style of music they use to get this point across is old fashion, traditional music.
The first piece presented in this concert was Robert Strauss’ Metamorphosen, Study for 23 Solo Strings a piece was composed during the last months of World War II, from August 1944 to March 1945, dedicated it to Paul Sacher. It was first performed in January 1946 with ten violins, five violas, five cellos, and three double basses, this was immolated in the performance by the Atlanta Symphony orchestra on April 13th that I attended. It is widely believed that Strauss wrote the work as a statement of mourning for Germany's destruction during the war, in particular as an elegy for devastating bombing of Munich during the second World War.
For my first concert report, I have decided to attend the Applied Music Student Recital. The musical performance was at Palomar College on February 27, 2015 from 1:00P.M.--2:00P.M. at the performance lab room D-10. The type of music that was presented at the concert was a brass ensemble, chamber music, classical, contemporary, jazz, opera, percussion, and many vocal arrangements. There was a total of eight musical Palomar College student performers who are majoring in music theory. I am only going to focus on a few of the musical pieces that I enjoyed most. The majority of the performers were dressed in formal attire. As the men were dressed in a dress shirt, a tie or bow tie of their choice, black slacks, and dress shoes. As for the women, they wore dresses, skirts and dress shoes. Also there was a pianist, accompanist who is a Palomar College music teacher named Ruth Weber. The performance was in a music concert hall with roughly fifty audience members.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
I chose to do my concert critique on Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged full concert-HQ January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer which has a mixture of genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated up close to the stage which made the atmosphere comfortable; Eric and the band showed much warmth and connected with the crowd it wasn’t like the band was untouchable.
4. "Santa Fe" from the Newsies original Broadway Cast. "Santa Fe" is the main song sung by the lead character in the play. The lead, Jack Kelly, wants nothing more than to leave 1800's New York and get out to Santa Fe. I can relate to this song because sometimes I want nothing more than to get up and leave. "Let me go. / Far away. / Somewhere they won't ever find me, and tomorrow won't remind me of today."
This song in the musical is sung by Fantine, a young mother who was recently thrown out of her factory job and she has no where to go and no one to turn to so she laments on the fairytale notion she had of life when she met this man who swept
The Los Angeles Philharmonic Classical Music Concert Report. I attended the Los Angeles Philharmonic classical music concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall on Friday 29 November 2013. The classical concert started at 8:00pm to the enjoyment of the huge audience that had been waiting for this amazing music extravaganza. Classical music concerts always offer magnificent entertainment and the audience in this concert was expectant to derive such entertainment or more. In attendance were Christian Zacharias, who was the conductor, and Martin Chalifour, who was the LA Phil commanding Principal Concertmaster and Bach violin player.
From the first video, performed by Pat Metheny’s group, I can feel that they cooperate very well to each other with a tacit mutual understanding with music. Also, even though the music in the video was very complex and without lyrics. We still can feel the great atmosphere from this performance. But compare to Kenny G’s live performance in Pramabanan Jazz, I think I like Kenny G’s performance better. I have a feeling that I have listened to his music before
For this concert report I chose to go to a performance of student composers held at the Kimball Recital Hall. I chose this one because I wanted to see some of the talent that my peers have in the music realm, and also it was one of the only concerts I have been able to attend because I usually work at night. It was impressive to hear pieces composed by students. I cannot imagine creating something as complex as a musical composition, much less actually performing it, so this aspect of the concert was particularly awe-inspiring. There was a large attendance, and I think that much of the audience consisted of friends of the composers and/or performers. I went with three friends, who I convinced by telling it would be interesting to see student composers.
I recently attended a music concert on December 4,2017, located in the Fine Arts Building in room 120. The setting was a classroom and at the front of the classroom was where the band performed. The name of this band was called Five Five Five, and what I noticed was that there was five player, five instruments which were a flute, a piano, a bass violin, a clarinet, and a guitar. The band also played 5 songs through the entire performance. Unlike the other concerts I attended this was the first concert that had a guitar.
