Does one deem people should be able to participate in any extracurricular he or she pleases to do? Neil should have been able to engage in a play without his dad looking down upon him. Activities, such as band, chorus, plays, or any other fine arts, open many doors for a person. Contributing to extracurriculars is a good idea because they get one out of their comfort zone, open up new opportunities, and they allow one to learn about themself. When he or she steps out of their comfort zone, it benefits them. When Neil stepped onto the stage acknowledging the fact that his atrocious dad was watching him, he stepped out of his comfort zone. If Neil continued performing in plays, he could have acquainted legendary groups to perform in them. His talent could have gotten him into an astounding college such as Julliard. Neil could have had the opportunity to become famous and meet different people who were absorbed in the same thing he was. The most important thing about engaging in a play, band, or chorus is learning about one’s self. Participating in a play can help people discover what he or she is passionate about. Neil took the chance to learn about what he was passionate about. Obviously, Neil was not passionate about becoming a doctor. This play allowed him to apprehend that he could do anything he wanted to. Joining any extracurricular teaches he or she to work with others and the values of teamwork. The experiences one has when performing allows them to learn their limits or capabilities . Plays or extracurricular activities allow he or she to grow as a person whether it be physically or mentally. Plays allow one to learn about themself and what he or she likes. Theatrical shows make one step out of their comfort zone and open up many opportunities. Despite the consequences, Neil chose what he knew he would love doing versus what he knew he would not.
