Baywatch is a 2017 comedy film parody of a television show under the same name from 1999. The current film is written by Damian Shannon, Mark Swift, and directed by Seth Gordon. Head lifeguard Mitch (Dwayne Johnson) and his team Stephanie Holden (Ilfenesh Hadera), and C.J Parker (Kelly Rohrbach) protects the beaches and bay as part as an elite division known as Baywatch. One day they hold tryouts for new recruits, out of all the participants only 3 are selected: Ronnie (Jon Bass) a chubby nerd with a crush on C.J, a surfer girl named Quinn, and an Olympic gold medallist who lost his popularity after vomiting during a race named Brody (Zac Efron). During their training and patrols, they notice a major drug increase on the beach and are determined to find the culprit.
This is an example of what you would call a Hollywood type of move, its tries too hard to express every emotion. An example would be the opening scene where we

see Mitch walking out of the water holding a person in his arms with a sunset in the background, 3 dolphins doing backflips, and the sweat dripping down his muscular naked chest in slow motion. When the film wants to show off how badass a person is they don't hold anything back. This gets pretty annoying after a while especially with the uses of slow motion being used almost all the time. The characters are not unique and feel like their personas have been used in countless other movies and show.
Brody is your typical hotshot cocky stud, who thinks the world revolves around him and everyone should love him. C.J. is the hot blonde that every guy is lusting for and Rodney is the nerdy character who always goes through some sort of comedic pain for a few laughs, as well as has a crush on the hot blonde C.J. The story does not give enough character development when needed and seems to neglect a few interesting ones like, Stephanie Holden who is seen in most of the movie but never gets any screentime alone or any backstory information like the rest. A scene in particular which could have actually help build her character is when she shares a kiss with Mitch in a restaurant kitchen in order to fool the thugs that are protecting the drugs. After they stop kissing she is stunned by what happened and it's hinted that she is romantically interested in Mitch, unfortunately, the moment is thrown away and never gives the audience any
closer. Plot and character might not have been the best but the visuals are the opposite. It's nothing fancy like special effects or anything but the films color correction and editing was done really well and made the film just to beautiful to look at. The ocean with its crisp blue and the beach with its warm and yellow sand can't help but give you the urge to go to the beach yourself. The use of an underwater camera also helped with the overall expansion of angles, and lighting techniques. Toward the end of the film when Brody is trapped in a cage sinking to the bottom of the ocean, the background lighting behind the cage was very dark and murky, while everything in front and around him was lit with low light. The camera was positioned above him showing him in a bird's eye view and really gave us the feeling that he was sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss. This movie has many flaws and only a few things going for it, If you like the dick and bodily fluid jokes then this is the right movie for you. However, if you enjoy movies with more character development and a story that is not filled with so much cliche moments then you probably would want to stay away from this film. The actor's choices were great however the characters themselves were lacking and I wish that was not the case. I'd give this movie 5/10 stars and that's mostly because the visuals caught my attention more than the actual story did.

The book had a few characters that I liked, but a lot of characters that I disliked. For example Yasmine was a character that I disliked. I didn’t like her because she brought pain to Paige’s life. Yasmine and Paige were best friends for months in Sixth grade. They were constantly doing fun activities together, like having sleepovers or planning each other’s birthday parties, but all that was ruined by a mistake Yasmine made. Paige and Yasmine were at a school dance, when
The protagonist, which is Gabie Klug the main character throughout the whole book is basically a loser at school. Also, she is a straight-A student, known as a nerd. She drives a black Mini Cooper and her parents are surgeons which are never home. Henry makes Gabie be very stubborn and active. Drew Lyle, another main character from The Night She Disappeared is known as an addicted smoker who is 17 years old. He has long hair and gray eyes, and in school, he has straight C’s. Drew’s mother is known as a drug addict and for stealing. April made Kayla a main character throughout the book even though her point of view is not in the book as much as Gabie’s and Drew’s. Kayla Cutler has blue eyes, pale skin, and black hair. Cutler is known to be very popular and

A reader is meant to connect with the characters in emotional ways, understanding and following through their footsteps throughout the story. It is crucial to have sub-characters that create tension along with comfort, so the readers are able to connect with them through simple experiences. I was very moved by Christian’s character, because his decisions were connected with real life happenings. He loved a beautiful woman, but he wasn’t able to truly make her love him because of his lack of intelligence. Stories like these happen in everyday life, making his character even more respected because we’re bound to go through similar experiences. I was very pleased with his character features, even when he is unintelligent; he was able to connect with me, and the story perfectly.

The first character that intrigued me, probably because I could relate to him the most was Andrew, the "jock." A jock is the group of people that are athletically inclined and are usually part of a sports team. When all the students were confessing what they had done he seemed the most regretful of his actions. Andrew being a great wrestler at school saw an unsuspecting teammate that was much smaller than he was and decided to jump on him and start beating up on him. What made his case so extreme was that not only did beat up on his teammate but he taped his butt cheeks together. The perception that I, as well as the members of the breakfast club, had of Andrew was that he couldn't think for himself. He also thought the same thing because he said that he felt pressured by his dad to do something mischievous because he (his dad) used to get into mischievous acts often while he was in high school. So while he was looking at his smaller teammate he said that all he could here was his father telling him about being a winner and doing so many unnecessary things just because he was an exceptional athlete. When Andrew told his story it seemed that all the other people were going to cry because they could see that he regretted doing what he did.
One performance that could’ve used improvement was that of Hope Cladwell. The actress portraying her didn’t want to play Hope as the “basic, stupid, ingénue” but this different take made her performance fall flat. Hope’s innocence and naivety is central to the plot and is inescapable in the writing. This affected her story with Bobby. While Tyler Fauntleroy’s performance was impeccable, it was hindered
It tells the audience that the people working on the show know how to craft a perfect scene and that they will make decisions which will enhance the narrative. That is a very effective decision which not only works on a stylistic choice but a narrative choice as
The trailer released for the film followed suit, flashing images of violence, guns, and heart-throb Leonardo DeCaprio, in order to grab the attention of the audience. Although admittedly some scenes have a comical side to them, Besson's fast paced action and gruesome images hold the tension and suspense brilliantly. His use of close-ups and camera movements, especially the subjective stance used by the victim, convey the feelings felt by the characters and the way in which they behave. Sound plays a crucial role in the opening sequence because, in my view, it is used to control the level of suspense and intrigue.
The movie uses drama and action mixed together. The emotions of the men when one of
