Over the past hundred years, there have been many superheroes that have risen out of the ashes of conflict, however, only few heroes have come close to an equal intelligence as Batman. Batman is not only highly intelligent, he is also very physically superior to any regular man, and most of his peers, making him the most well balanced out of all the superheroes. All through his life, Bruce Wayne has been a strong student who always rose above and beyond expectations. He trains and fights endlessly to protect the members of Gotham. Batman is undoubtedly strong, although he is only human. Bruce Wayne was born human, and grew up without the use of superhuman powers unlike other superheroes; nevertheless, he possesses mighty skills like exceptional martial arts, combat strategy, inexhaustible wealth, brilliant deductive skills, and advanced technologies (DC comics Batman). “A more educated, knowledgeable person is going to get further in life than a physically superior one.”2 Trouble and Squeak authors suggest. Bruce Wayne has worked all of his life to be the marvelous avenger that he would potentially become. By completing his tedious training, he has defeated and overcome many obstacles and enemies with only the use of his extraordinary abilities. Batman, though he has no “superpowers”, is still one of the more successful and powerful superheroes. He has worked hard to learn to protect himself as well as others. During Bruce’s life, he has housed, raised, and trained five different children. These children became his sidekicks. They battled evil side-by-side with Batman and were some of the only ones that knew his true identity. This is evidence of Bruce’s independence because in order to help others and teach them to be independent, one must first learn themselves to be independent. He is a reliable person that these children looked up to. Even people who don’t know his true self, admire him. Batman has made sure that no child will ever again have to go through what he had gone through as a child. He was alone and without anyone to look up to. According to Jim Taylor, Ph.D., “Independant children are good at making decisions because they are allowed to consider various options and to make their own decisions. They grow to be intrinsically motivated because they are allowed to find their own reasons to achieve.”3 These contributing factors are the reasons that Bruce Wayne attained such a high level of achievement. He was raised without anyone there to hold him back or block him from finding his purpose. Bruce Wayne was able to push himself and others to execute the tasks that would better the city around them.
