Batman the Inferior
If Batman alone was tasked with saving the world, we would all die. If Batman was tasked with saving a cat from a rabid dog, the cat would die. If Batman was tasked with walking an old women across the street, she would trip over his cape and break her hip. Batman is an inferior “superhero” - and that is reality. Here is why:
Batman is an inadequate, hardly super “hero.” Batman has all sorts of fancy trinkets and tricks, but he lacks one crucial thing. According to Encyclopedia Heroica, Batman lacks any actual powers. In order to mask his defects, he resorts to atrocities known as “Batarangs” and “Bat-Darts” that he carries around in his utility belt. In my eyes, these utilities are nothing more than crutches. What
happens when those crutches are taken away? He can kick all sorts of butt as long as he has his gadgets, but the moment he gets into a pinch without his utility belt, he's a goner. Even Batman's creator, Bill Bob, has his doubts..“I regret everything.” remarks Bill, the short, balding man behind Batman. “It was a stupid idea in the first place. A super hero without powers? What's so super? Yeah, he has a lot of money and a dark past, but it's just not enough. I could have done better.” With a furrowed brow, he continues. “What happens in a situation where Batman can't access his apparatus? He'd be totally hosed! He wouldn't be able to do anything!” Gothem City is a cesspool of crime and misfortune. Batman, with his immeasurable wealth, has the power to fix this – and he tries to, but his methods have proven to be ineffective. With billions of dollars at his disposal, Batman could do a lot of good for the city. He could set up soup kitchens for the poor, he could fund things like schools and housing for the homeless. If he had done these things, he would've gone down in history as someone like Mother Teresa. However, Batman decided to go down a different path. Instead of doing the practical, sensible thing, he decided to use his vast sea of wealth to take out his pent-up anger on super-villains and petty criminals. What will this accomplish in the long run? Sure, he brings bad guys to justice, but he fails to look at the bigger picture. He doesn't even glance at it. The vast majority of criminals are not criminals because they're bad people; they're simply victims of circumstance. If Batman had invested in Gothem and gave its disadvantaged youth of a chance and the opportunities they deserve, the super-villains of tomorrow wouldn't become super-villains in the first place. Instead of the super-villains of tomorrow, they would adopt a different title. They would be the innovators, craftsmen and thinkers of tomorrow. Youth are the lifeblood of any city, and Batman's blatant disregard for their long-term prosperity shows a great level of carelessness, or even incompetence, in this super “hero.” At the end of the day, Batman just isn't that great of a superhero. As soon as the suit comes off, his abilities are rendered useless. Although I have to give Batman credit for his ingenuity, his lack of powers hold him back. In a world of super-heros and villains, I'd much rather have a Superman or a Green Lantern at my side than someone like Batman.
In conclusion my expectations were met because we all want to be a certain hero in our everyday lives but sometimes don’t know which one is actually the better and more positive one. Strength, power, intelligence, and authority are the most important things the outlaw hero and official hero will bring even if they are above a certain rule or really beneath it. Outlaws are not always the bad guys, but are not always the good guys either. In this case Batman is the good guy disguised as the bad guy. Official heroes are always the good guys no matter the circumstance. Superman in this case is the good guy disguised as the actual good guy. Being above the law or against it, official heroes and outlaw heroes will always paint the picture that you can be strong, powerful, intelligent, and have the authority you deserve.
Therefore, is a misunderstood outcast, rather than valued, kingly hero. However If batman isn't a hero because of the damage he does, then none of the superheroes are heroes. Superman does damage to buildings roads people, even he could be considered an anti hero by these terms. Batman's motivation is revenge but the fact is he isn't going after black people or something. He saw what happened to him and he was motivated to stop it from happening
But I do know one thing, Batman was there for us when we needed him the most. He separated us from our darkest nightmares every night. He guarded our houses and protected our families, our friends, and our children. Batman stood up for what he believed, he always had us, the people of Gotham in his best interest. What more could we have asked Batman to do? I could stand up here and say "I never knew the man," but that might not be the truth. During my life, I have known many men, many men who are full of strength, courage, and virtue. Any of these men could have been the Batman and I would have never been aware. However good men still walk among us today, even without Batman. These good men and women are my hope, my consolation for
In origin, a hero is an archetype character that refers to protectors, warriors, or god-like man who protects humanity. For instance, Hercules was a hero in Greek mythology. In modern culture, heroism is recognized as an extremely popular trait that a character can possess. In this case, Bat Man, also referred to as The Dark Knight, is indisputably idealized as a hero. Unlike most superheros in comicbooks culture, Bat Man is a simple human being with absolutely no superpowers. Regardless of that, he as a simple human being still exhibits the courage, intelligence, talent and the necessary skills in fighting crime and defeating potentially hazardous villains seeking to either rule the world or cause destruction. In detail, Bat Man’s real name is Bruce Wayne. Bruce was 10 years old when his parents were murdered which fundamentally change his perception about the world. After his parents’ death, Bruce inherited a multibillion dollar company that his father created before his birth, which explains why he has the most advanced technology to help him fight crime. While growing up, Bruce trained himself to fight and had been working out. One night, he came to the conclusion that Gotham city is falling into the hands of criminals. For that reason, he convinced himself that it should be his obligation to prevent it, although he needed a hero identity to hide his real identity
The purpose of this paper is to provide the reader with an insight into the Super Hero Series Batman. This crime fighter originally appeared in Detective Comics issue #27 in 1939. It later became a comic book series, a TV series and a movie series. The character Batman is second only to Superman as a Super Hero. Amazingly Batman has no super powers, but he does have a lot of neat crime fighting gadgets. In this paper, we will explore the creation of Batman, his supporting cast of characters both good and bad and the gadgets he used.
Multitasking is said to be impossible to humans, but people do them all the time - even if subconsciously. In his article The Thematic Paradigm in Signs of Life in the U.S.A., Robert Ray expresses his opinion about the heroes in Hollywood films, and how Americans act when put against a hard decision. In his article, he claims that heroes can be divided into two categories; Official Heroes or Outlaw Heroes. He later claims that a hero can also be a mix of both of these, known as the Composite Hero. He also claims that in times when one has to make a hard decision, Americans act in one of three ways; either refuse to take sides and combine both, blurs the difference between the choices, or just laugh it off. These categories are well defined
...t up in his honor. Batman gets this statue because he is worthy of this honor for all that he has done for Gotham City.
To the world today, a hero is someone distinguished by exceptional courage, nobility, or strength; but really, anyone can be a hero. A hero can vary from someone as well-known as George Washington to someone as unheard of as anyone’s very own mother. Someone who has done a good deed for someone else is hero. The biggest heroes are the ones in well-known books and plays, such as Odysseus from The Odyssey, or have made a huge difference in the history of this world, like Mahatma Gandhi. Siddhartha Gautama is a hero, but not in the same way Odysseus or Gandhi are. Although these three influential people went through different journeys in order to accomplish different things, they are all heroes in their own way and have been through the same cycle of the road of trials and crisis/salvation.
The world told him over and over again that he could it, so Batman's response was to put on his suit and kick ass. Ordinary people have been told over and over that they can’t do something, all they need to do is look up to Batman. Tim Burton’s Batman movie was such a cultural phenomenon, Batman was portrayed as a more dark and mysterious character than ever before. This “new” Batman man who was an orphaned gothic hero really resonated with America's teens at the time, they flocked to this new interpretation of Batman. The new batman totally changed the public's view of Batman, and clearly this new Batman was a hit because it made a killing at the box
...use Batman saves lives without having any powers and that lets people relate to him. It is hard to relate to a superhero that can shoot webs and climb building like a spider when a normal person cannot do that. Batman builds unbelievable gadgets to defeat his nemesis. Batman has a bat mobile, bat tank, bat motorcycle, and a bat helicopter as his vehicles. Batman also has gadgets like sonar, armor that is hard to penetrate, bat ring that works like a boomerang just to name a few of the gadgets he has on his utility belt. Superheroes like Spider-Man that have super powers can rely on their powers while Batman has to rely on his intelligence, strength and gadgets to defeat enemies. Ultimately, both of these men put there lives on the line to help the people of their city. Some may do it better than others and I feel as if Spider-Man is the better superhero of the two.
Collapsing to his knees, Batman admits defeat at the hand of comic book legend, Spider-man. Throughout the years, many people have argued about whom of these two super heroes is better. Both Spider-man and Batman have their own unique stories, abilities, and set of super villains and no one can argue that both aren't exceptional super heroes. However, through proven facts, statistics, comic books, television shows, and movie references determine for all who the better super hero is between these two. If were to ever happen, in a fight to the death, Spider-man would destroy Batman with his marvelous super powers, courage, and intelligence.
When I think of a hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of a hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
Movies have evolved a great deal since the days when a couple fighting scenes and a small love story satisfied audiences. Today movie plots are much more complicated and have much more action, thanks to modern day technologies. Although these new technologies seem to make movies increasingly complicated, some crucial roles in movies will never change. One thing that has remained constant in the film industry is the role of the hero. No matter what the genera of the film and or when the film was made the hero’s always share similar characteristics and are put through similar series of tests to prove their heroism. When these tests are completed it seems to pull everything together in their films. Although the hero Shane in the movie Shane and the hero Ripley in the movie Aliens are from two separate generas and are also from separate time periods, the hero’s in each movie share characteristics and are put through similar tests that make them, in theory, one in the same. Heroic characteristics start to become evident right from the start of each of the movies.
For Batman, he is a famous person with high social class. His image is a successful businessman and on the other hand he is a hero to save the city. He is very strong and well body shape. When he catches the thief, he acts independently. He will not ask for help and refuse the others involve although he gets hurt. He is very clever and very calm. He will first plan before he takes action.
In today's modern times we hear the word hero all of the time. The news media throws the term around as if it is an everyday word. What exactly is a hero? Who, or what, can be classified as heroic? The correct definition of the word hero is: One invested with heroic qualities in the opinions of others. That is a fine definition for books and intellectual minds. To the average person, however, a hero is much more.
