One day when I was in 3rd grade at recess while all the kids played and jumped round I was focusing on balancing so I could be a cheerleader next year . Me and my friend Ashley walked on the curb of the sidewalks while trying to balance , our teacher watched us focus so hard, being so small it was easy to balance because I didn't hold so much weight . I remember trying with one foot and almost making it to the end until I got tripped , I fell straight onto my knees on the hard concrete. You know when something happens so quick you don't feel the pain immediately, you usually feel it when someone starts to point it out , I didn't know I busted my knee with all the adrenaline rushing through my body until everyone on the playground started screaming
One of the funniest wrecks i had was right after i gt my new dirt bike it was on christmas day and i thought i could go faster then what i should be going and then i was going through a curve and the next thing i know i'm on the
‘The way’ is cluttered with constant imagery of contradictory views which are both compelling and insightful, through which we are taken on a journey, our final destination being the true meaning of life. In a world where we are all yearning for the meaning for life, true harmony and real balance it is no surprise that the Tao Te Ching is a very haunting piece of literature that holds the reader in an almost trans like state of mind as it attempts to portray the way to accomplish the above.
World War I was a war of new technology. There were machine guns, gas bombs, and trenches. Because of this new technology, World War I was also a war filled with atrocities. The men fighting in the war experienced horrors that no human being should have ever experienced. The novel Regeneration by Pat Barker addresses the question of how these soldiers were supposed to recover from these horrors. For Dr. W.H.R. Rivers, there was only one answer -- psychology. On page 29, a patient of Rivers' named Anderson tells Rivers, "That's what you Freudian Johnnies are on about all the time, isn't it? Nudity, snakes, corsets." Freudian therapy is also alluded to on pages 31 and 46, although Freudian methods of analyzing dreams, recognizing symbols, and understanding the unconscious are constants. Rivers helps to bring the traumatized soldiers back to a reality where they can accept life and the duties that they must fulfill through the use of a psychology which draws upon Freud's theories. The appearance of Freudian psychology in Regeneration helps to acknowledge the frailty of the human mind, body, and soul. Rivers' use of psychology is a way to restore the delicate balance of life, giving renewal to a life thought hopeless by its possessor.
“Hike” it was 5th grade recess and we were playing football. It was a beautiful August day, sunny and eighty five with a cool breeze. We were playing in the parking lot of the Oyster River Middle School. There were about twenty kids playing. Nobody had a certain route, we would just try to shake free and lose the defender as they looked for a pass from the quarterback. I was playing receiver. We all lined up at the line of scrimmage with the quarterback in the middle. I ran my post route that was already in my head. I was off and out into my route, sprinting straight and then a quick turn toward the school. Then, before I knew it, I was on the ground and so was someone else three feet away. I had ran into them. When I fell, I had
My story starts in the 7th grade, when I was the best basketball player on the 7th grade girls basketball team for Brainerd. I was always used to be the best at basketball because I was tall, strong, and not afraid to take chances. In 7th grade I had been playing basketball for 11 years. One day after my brother and I got home from school he asked me if I wanted to try throwing the discus. I told him

It was tennis during my freshman year. It was my first match. Not knowing what to expect, I stepped onto the court, three new tennis balls held carefully in my hand, a racquet and water jug in the other, a visor on my head, tennis uniform on my body. This was all I had. I had no one out there with me, I was all alone. I had
This memorable moment happened while I was living in Hawaii. No longer were my parents enforcing a higher standard; I wanted it for myself. I started to implement this higher standard onto myself when I tore my ACL my junior year of high school by doing therapeutic writing to help me get through that hard time. Therapeutic writing led to the immense development in my reading and writing skills. This goes to show that there is always something good that comes out of out of something bad.
I was in 5th grade, and the most devastating thing ever had happened to me. It was a sunny may afternoon after a baseball game when my dad got a phone call from my coach. He had said that I and two other teammates were invited to the Willamette Valley all - star tryouts the next day. The tryouts would last 2 days. I was very excited and my parents were proud of me. My family has a long history in playing baseball and a lot of my cousins had made the all star team.
The day started off normal I was at school and it was almost time for recess. 3rd grade recess we would literally be running around playing football whether it was tackle or just touch. We end up being released outside and as my friends got the football and started running around I went and stretched. Eventually I joined them and started playing and tackling people. Then I got the ball and was running and juking everyone out. At that moment I felt invincible until
When I was seven years old I learned how to ride a bike I started of in a less bumpy place then I started in a more crowded area. I remember the feeling of the wind flowing through my hair as I rode. My step dad and step brother were both cheering me on. They yelled for me to fall over because I was rolling toward the road. I fingered the ground that was as hard as a rock. I was fine I just got up and brushed myself off.
During the first grade, I went to a pool back in Richmond. As soon as I jumped in, I knew something was wrong. When my family got out of the pool, my parents noticed I was limping. I told them that my knee had been bothering me, so we went and got x-rays. After the x-rays, they said thay there was nothing, so we continued our lives normally. My knee was not getting better, but we were moving up to Pennsylvania at the time. Once we fully got moved in to our new house, my mom who was very frusturated took me to Dr. Wells, who was an intelligent, orthopedist that specialized in children's diseases. While going through the entire process I was extremely courageous and fearful of what could hapen. In addition, this time of my life was sad and serious.
My journey in athletics was brought to an abrupt halt when I was injured playing soccer in 8th grade. The soccer game had just started I was playing goalie a player of the opposing team slide illegally into me which caused a severe laceration just below my knee. Over the course of the next several days the doctors fought to save my right leg and a Vascular Plastic Surgeon performed a major surgery reconstructing my right knee. The morning after I woke up from surgery I thought I had lost my leg due to the excruciating pain. My leg was saved and the surgery on my knee had left me with over 600 stitches.
Traumatic events come in many different ways at many different times of ones life. Mine came on the school bus while I was on my way home from school. The bus had stopped to let a couple kids off and I stood up to throw some trash away. I stood up we were rear ended by a young lady who had been trying to get a bee out of the car and not realized the bus had stopped. I was standing up and the impact caused me to bang into the seat in front of me and the one behind me. I didn’t realize what had happened until moments later when someone said something. As I began to sit down I felt a sharp pain shoot through my body and my heart started to beat rapidly.
In this world, everyone wants something. For me, I love getting praise. I never felt like I needed it, but it was definitely something that I wanted. Something that I’d seek out. I began to realize that compliments and flattery were what could turn a good day, into a great day.
