It’s O.K. to feel angry, but…Don’t hurt others, Don’t hurt yourself, Don’t hurt property, just talk about how you feel and the problem might be that juveniles aren’t being heard. There are many juveniles going in detention centers and there could be any reasons why they are there. Many teens become juveniles for a reason and bad parenting could be one of the problems.Bad parenting can cause mental disorder and could cause them to become juvenile. Poor parenting skills and poor choices are results of juveniles and it can be traced back to the very ones that he/she calls mom and dad.
First, In today's crime rate, we are seeing a huge increase in crimes done by juveniles. Juveniles make over fifteen percent of all crimes in the United States. Juveniles

“Harsh parenting that includes frequent yelling, hitting and threats may bring out the worst in teens' behavior instead of getting them to toe the line, a new study suggests” (Wallace par.2). I read an article called “When it comes to school, harsh parenting can backfire” and it said that “Harsh parenting can impact a child's educational achievement in the long term based on how it affects relationships with peers, sexual behavior, and delinquency” (Wallace par.4). Being too harsh can cause your child to make a wrong decision and also cause them to become a delinquent. They aren't knowing nothing because all their parents do to the child is punish him verbally and emotionally. A study shows that bad parenting can lead to the children showing more aggression and could lead to the child doing bad things. Also, another study showed that bad supervision and bad disciplinary punishment can negatively affect your child in many ways. Some children can be seen with antisocial behavior and this might be because the children are seeing domestic violence, parental drug abuse, and harsh parenting. Parents should give their child moral support and listen to them and communicate effectively with their child so the child could know that their parents are there for him. There are classes that can teach you or give classes to parents and even to the parents that need help because they have …show more content…
Parents should know that there is a class to teach you to be a great parent and not have your child become a delinquent. For the parents that have a drug abuse, they should seek help because your child might develop that drug abuse as well because they saw you doing drugs. We should know that kids are like a sponge for bad parenting and that means that kids soak in things they see like a sponge. The research was conducted and found that “Negative parenting caused the children studied to demonstrate "higher levels of anger”(Lack par.). This study actually showed us that bad parenting could lead to the child to do bad things and become a delinquent. So bad parenting could be the cause why children or juveniles become
Further, the reason for them to get involved in the deviant behavior should be established first before judging them. According to studies, most youths is exposed to environments that drive them to commit crimes. Studies indicate that 79 percent of the children who involve themselves with crimes witness violence in their homes (Steinberg and Scott). Besides, 17 percent of these children grows without the frequent presence of their relatives (Nellis 45). Children facing such social disadvantages are most likely to commit crimes. Sentencing them may not be the solution since it adds more suffering than good for their lives. Instead of convicting them, the cause of them committing crimes should be established. That way, other children may be saved. However, lawmakers in the United States continue to turn a blind eye to human rights and social problems facing
...The lack of a an authority figure leads to the child making ignorant decisions. Doing unlawful things for most of these individuals isn’t considered wrong. Their parents did it so why shouldn't they follow their footsteps? In today’s society the lack of parenthood is an ongoing cycle that needs to stop. Raising about the influence will lead many generations to achieve impressive accomplishments.
It can be said for most parents that they want their children to grow up to be successful contributing members of society. Being a parent is a difficult, yet rewarding task. But why do some types of parenting result in juvenile delinquency while others find success. There are four generally recognized parenting styles and are categorized: authoritarian, permissive, neglectful, and authoritative. This essay will break down the various styles, its type(s) of discipline and effectiveness.
Children who are under the influence of parental guidance tend to have better behavior and can distinguish between right and wrong. “Children placed in situations lacking parental guidance are six times as likely than those with parental guidance to have a high level of overall difficulties including, emotional issues, conduct disorders, and peer problems” (McGuire 2014). Children do not have to worry about the weight of responsibility because their parents take on that responsibility for them. Kids brought up in normal, loving environments behave in a more civilized manner and exhibit better etiquette than those who are placed in negative, harsh environments such as...
An example can be if Timmy decides he wants to go to a party on Friday. His parents tell him he has to be back by 9:00 pm. He gets angry and decides to come back home at 11:00 pm. When he gets home his parents punish him by beating him with a stick. They do not explain to him why they are hitting him or they do not take the time to ask why he has arrived home late. As a result to this form of discipline the children usually react quickly and do not make an attempt to negotiate with their parents in fear that they will receive more discipline. The outcome of this type of parenting style is that the child usually becomes unfriendly, anxious, distrusted, and withdrawn. Most of them also have a low self-esteem. A positive outcome is that the child becomes academically successful beca...
Most humans tend to live by example and studies prove that our behavior is learned, but how do we explain the bad behavior of those that have good parents that are excellent role models? Some people would say that the parents are too flexible and the kids take advantage of them, on the other hand when parents neglect the kids and are bad role models for their kids we easily find the answer to the problem. As a society we contradict ourselves; sometimes we tell parents to not be too flexible with our kids but at the same time we do not want parents to discipline their children too harshly. The question of why juveniles commit crimes does not have an exact answer. Some juveniles commit crimes because of peer pressure, anger over life, and others might just do it for fun.
Studies indicate that positive parenting, including normative development, monitoring, and discipline, clearly affects whether children will become delinquent. Adequate supervision of free-time activities, whereabouts, and peers are critical to assure that children do not drift into antisocial and delinquent patterns of behavior. Surprisingly, little is known about normative and moral development with the family as they relate to delinquency. Single-parent families, and in particular mother-only families, produce more delinquent children than two-parent families. Research indicates that parenting practices account for most, but not all, of the ...
Each parent is different; they all have different ways in parenting and disciplining their children. One’s own parenting style is usually derived from the way one was raised or the society one lives in. Parenting styles include authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive, and it is very important to know which style one falls in because it can have an effect on how one’s child grows up to be and develops. Authoritative parenting would be the better parenting style because it is in the middle of the parenting styles; it is not at the extreme ends of the spectrum. It can be very beneficial to parents to understand that how one raises their children can give them a foundation for good development for years to come.

...bnormal behavior of delinquency and the link between parenting. It could have a significant impact on how both parents and psychologists approach delinquency and helping to prevent it. Although there were links between all parenting styles and delinquency the article showed that there were greater links between controlling, neglectful, or absentee parents then those who were consistent and present. This shows that in order to prevent delinquency parent need to be present, consistent, and open. If all parents were to attempt this perhaps juvenile delinquency would decrease significantly.
A finding that emerges very strongly and consistently is that delinquents have very poor relationships with their parents” (Gove 303-304). The teens who commit crimes often lack a parental figure in their lives. These teens are not strictly overseen by their parents, and their parents rarely know what they are up to or what they are doing (Gove 303). “Poor parent-child relationships, lack of parental control, and erratic behavior of parents could be a product of juvenile misbehavior and the juvenile’s hostility towards his or her parents” (Gove 304). Teens that do not have a close relationship with their parents often resort to delinquency as a form of resentment. “The family as an institution plays a critical role in the socialization of children; as a consequence, parents presumably play a critical role in whether their children misbehave” (Gove 315). Parents play the biggest role in a child’s life because the parents have been with the child since birth. Parents shape, mold, and provide the foundation that a teen needs to make hard decisions and to live by a good m...
A. Paragraph 1 1.A critical feature exhibited by parental discipline is that it can change or manipulate a child’s personality. One way this is seen is through making a child more easily angered and generally more negative. 2. Parental discipline can affect the behavior of a child by causing a child to feel easily angered in response to others, especially if the form of discipline used upon this child is considered harsh or abusive. Signs of abusive punishment would include physical and even psychological harassment.
Parents can show parental love while being firm with the rules, call professional expert about troubled teen when they needed, make a balance between guiding and letting them have freedom, set reasonable expectations, limits, boundaries, and respect their choices, teach them to respond for what they did, and let them experiences everything they can. According Reagan (1942), “Life’s challenges are not supposed to paralyze you; they’re supposed to help you discover who you are.” If you never do something wrong or make a bad choice, you will never learn new things from it. If you did it, you respond for it and you will receipt a lesson that you exchange it by your
As a parent, I have spent a great deal of time observing the behavior, motivation, and thought processes of my children. As they mature these processes have changed, and it has been fascinating to watch. I have learned a great deal on the limits of self control in the adolescent mind during this time, and I believe that families should be held responsible for crimes committed by their teenagers.
I always believed that you could see the effects of bad parenting, by studying the youth of today opposed to the youth of sixty years ago. The effects of bad parenting can be measured in many different ways. One of the things that we all forget about is “lead by example”. What we as adults, teach our children, is what our future generations will be as people.
