Although there are many prominent luxury brand designers, it is important to recognize Perry Ellis, who is known as the original American designer that sells primarily sportswear and casual clothing with a unique twist.. Perry Edwin Ellis was born in Portsmouth, Virginia on March 3, 1940. He lived with his grandma in a house full of his aunt’s vintage clothing, which began his passion and tastes for his designs. When he grew up, he majored in business at the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and later went to New York University in New York to earn his master’s degree in retailing. He began his career in 1963 as a sportswear buyer for an upscale store, Miller & Rhodes in Richmond, Virginia, and was later promoted as a merchandiser for John Meyer of Norwich Conn. in 1967, so he went back to New York. In 1974, he was asked by Manhattan Industries to merchandise the Vera sportswear collection, where he then designed a line called Portfolio. This motivated him to launch his own company called Perry Ellis Sportswear in 1978 with Manhattan Industries as the parent company
Everything in the company was going well, but in early January of 1986, Perry Ellis’s partner had passed away with an unspecified disease. Not long after, Ellis found out about his declining health due to AIDs. The story of his last moments were tragic. Many noted that on the day of his death, he was at his fashion show in New York, but he stayed near the doorway because he was so weak, he could barely walk. A few hours later, he died in a coma. Although many were in shock by this tragedy, many still continued to develop his designs. Ellis’s daughter, Tyler Alexandra Gallagher Ellis — who was born 18 months before Ellis’s death — had shown how much she resembled her father after coming out with a collection of 13 handmade designer bags in
Richard Morris Hunt was an American architect born in 1827. Hunt was born in Brattleboro, Vermont. His dad was a lawyer and US congressman, so their family had lots of money. He first attended Boston Latin School, and then in 1943 when his father died, he traveled to Europe to study art and architecture. In 1846 he would become the first American to attend the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, the finest architecture school in the world. He finally settled in New York in 1855, where he made it his goal to raise the standard of design.
Lot long later. In 1985, Alexander left his job at Sportsgirl and established his own sleepwear label. He named it after himself and with the support of his friends and family, Alexander began sewing pyjamas in his parent’s dining room to sell to local department stores. At one stage, a store cancelled an order of 2000 pairs of pyjamas so Alexander frantically searched for people to buy them. He sent in an advertisement to Cleo that was accepted and published in their magazine and from that one advertisement, Alexander received an additional 6000 orders.

Perry’s early family life was difficult, and he was just 7 years old when his parents split up. Perry has always described his father’s departure as having the single biggest impact on him throughout his life. (Jones, 2006)
In the following essay, I will develop my thoughts by talking about how Weirob challenges her long life friend Miller to comfort her on her death bed for three nights, about the slight possibility of her soul surviving after death. This is based on the author John Perrys’ ideas. I will also be discussing the two personal criterions that we discussed in class that I believe fit best to the passage.
Matthew C. Perry was born in Newport, Rhode Island on April 10, 1794, the younger brother of another United States naval officer, Oliver Hazard Perry. Perry was an American naval officer who had seen action in the War of 1812 aboard the USS President, flagship of Stephen Decatur. He later helped found the country of Liberia in West Africa as a haven for free black Americans, and was given the task of "opening" Japan to diplomatic and commercial relations with the United States with the hope that U.S. sailors could receive better treatment in the process.
No matter the age, we all have faced a time in our lives in which we have had to make a decision. Not only for the embetterment of us now, but in the future as well. This is arguably Perry’s, the main character in Walter Dean Myers’ Fallen Angels, biggest dilemma. He was forced to make a decision that felt would not only benefit him now and in the future, but also benefit his brother and mother's future as well. His ultimate decision was to join the United States army. Perry, the protagonist, and I and are alike in many ways. We both share the same views of the world, are viewed by the world in similar ways and I would respond in a comparable way to the central conflict of the novel. Therefore, I believe given the chance, we could be friends.
At age 25 he opened his first collection and it was a big success, inspired by his mentor Balenciaga. The collection was based on evening wear as well as economical white cotton shirts that were both inexpensive and fresh-looking. After that collection, his name was recognizable and his biggest success was the “Bettina” blouse; named after the famous Paris’ top model. This blouse was his signature piece in his cotton collection. Givenchy’s philosophy was: “Keep it simple. Eliminate everything that interferes with the line.” ...
With African Americans being apart of the fashion industry, they faced many hardships. However, they created a distinctive voice in the history of fashion. Throughout the early twentieth century, Blacks designers influenced the fashion industry in America, having, “a system and structure for maintaining their particular type of fashion.” African American fashion was very popular and caught the attention from the media. Department stores held successful fashion shows, screened fashion movies, and staged fashion pageants. Fortunately, African Americans were allowed to attend these events, yet they were not welcomed. Fast-forward to today, the fashion industry has opened up several doors for African American designers, stylist, and models. However,
