Peter Alexander himself!
Peter Alexander was born in 1965 in Melbourne, Australia. He attended school at Mount Scopus Memorial College and was voted as the least likely to succeed by schoolmates. Alexander's teacher suggested he leave and go to TAFE but he was stubborn and decided to stay at school and successfully completed Year 12. Nowadays, Alexander states that the confidence and self-belief was derived from his school life and he was able to set high goals and achieve them independently. He wishes that he’d done a business course before starting his own business to jump start the benefits and profits in the sleepwear business.
Despite having learning issues at school and not going to university, Alexander managed to get a hold of a job as a marketer for the successful brand Sportsgirl, in 1981. He learnt many lifelong skills and made strong friendships. 4 years later, one night after talking with his female friends, Alexander observed there was a gap in the Australian market for pyjamas. Women had a limited amount of choice between styles, which were either sexy or unattractive pyjamas so Alexander began brainstorming for appealing, convenient yet fun pyjamas.
Lot long later. In 1985, Alexander left his job at Sportsgirl and established his own sleepwear label. He named it after himself and with the support of his friends and family, Alexander began sewing pyjamas in his parent’s dining room to sell to local department stores. At one stage, a store cancelled an order of 2000 pairs of pyjamas so Alexander frantically searched for people to buy them. He sent in an advertisement to Cleo that was accepted and published in their magazine and from that one advertisement, Alexander received an additional 6000 orders.

In 2008 for the opening of an American Peter Alexander store, alexander designed a pair of pyjamas in which all the profits went to local animal rescue groups. He has done more charity events since, such as his male models posing with rescued dogs in the 2011 peter alexander calendar! These acts of kindness are good for the heart but they also bring positive attention to the brand and is a great way of advertising and diminishing animal cruelty.

Wilson has started many retail companies, foundations and programs. His most known company is Lululemon Athletica, often referred to as Lululemon. Started in 1998, in 16 years the company has become the leading brand in yoga apparel. The business started because female participation in sports increased in those years. The first store was in Kitsilano. It is a small town in Vancouver where Wilson was born and brought up. Originally, Lululemon sold all women sports wear. After the some success, the company launched a subsidiary in 2001 called Fashion Active Lab. This company specialized in yoga clothing. The success of yoga clothing, created a new opportunity for Lululemon. In 2009, they started a new subsidiary called Ivivva Athletica. This company’s target market was girls ages 6 to 12. On July 27, 2007, Lululemon hit the NASDAQ market for public trading under the symbol LULU. On December 10, 2013 Wilson sa...
“Frederick’s of Hollywood, brainchild of the inventor of the push-up bra and purveyor of “marry-a-millionaire” lingerie since 1947” (Blakemore, 2015). Frederick’s created the “sex sells” image for themselves especially marrying a millionaire. They cannot go back from this and just try to reinvent themselves to cater to the everyday women when the company was built from these products. Frederick’s of Hollywood’s catalogs have most of the women in bed in the most uncomfortable position in the most uncomfortable looking lingerie. Victoria’s Secret catalogs are on a beachy location or just on location, not just a set. “That is, demureness is sexy in a middle-class setting and directness is sexy in a working-class setting.” (Blakemore, 2015). The catalogs create the ambiance of where the girls are when they are wearing the lingerie, therefore, it makes us the people shopping from these catalogs feel like we need to be in that place or atmosphere to wear what they are
By describing the commercial in detail, and backing up her statements with evidence, Gray states that this commercial depicts the fantasy of women well enough to make them want to buy the product. The purpose of this article is to analyze a commercial and to inform about how that commercial was effective. Gray states that the audience of the Hanes underwear commercial is middle-class women, aged 12 and up. I think that the audience of Gray’s essay is also the same, because if men are not particularly interested at a
She began with a small boutique out of her own pocket and has grown to a world-renowned, award winning fashion designer, receiving awards varying from the Australian Louis Vuitton Business Award in 1997 to the Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World Award in 2002 (Collette Dinnigan, 2016). Collette Dinnigan is one of Australia’s most successful fashion designers who has taken many risks in the fashion industry and has used her initiative to become one of the most recognised designers worldwide.

The introduction of nylon and of the mass-production methods that were stimulated by the rising demand for what now became a machine-made article progressively led to simpler and more functional lifestyles (Ewing 1 1 7). This fabric could be rinsed out and drip-dried in an hour or two with no need of ironing. The woman in the ad has no time for laborious tasks that come along with complicated clothing: she has people to see, things to do, and new areas to conquer.
Alexander the Great is undoubtedly one of the most famous leaders and Kings in our history. This one man miraculously led his armies into countless battles and created an empire nearly as large as the Roman Empire. Men and women all over the world have clearly heard of the amazing things that Alexander accomplished in his times; however, the question of whether his deeds were heroic or villainous still remains. To answer this question, Alexander the Great was unmistakably a villain.
The author’s thesis argues that Alexander became who he was based on the society he grew up in. Green describes Alexander’s surroundings as “loud, clamorous professional soldiers, who rode or drank or fought or fornicated” (pg. 40). These were the male examples that he had in his life and his father was no different. He was also surrounded by the planning and strategy of war, treachery and conspiracies. His mother Olympia’s which is so popularly known for poisoning young Alexander’s mind against Philip, the author believes is nothing more but a psychological myth. Alexander and Olympia’s did not turn against Philip till 338 BC, when Alexander...
Alexander the Great is hailed, by most historians, as “The Great Conqueror” of the world in the days of ancient Mesopotamia. “Alexander III of Macedon, better known as Alexander the Great, single-handedly changed the nature of the ancient world in little more than a decade. Alexander was born in Pella, the ancient capital of Macedonia in July 356 BCE. His parents were Philip II of Macedon and his wife Olympias. Philip was assassinated in 336 BCE and Alexander inherited a powerful yet volatile kingdom. He quickly dealt with his enemies at home and reasserted Macedonian power within Greece. He then set out to conquer the massive Persian Empire” (Web, BBC History). It is important to note, which will maybe explain his brutal actions, that Alexander was only twenty years old when he became the king of Macedonia. “When he was 13, Philip hired the Greek philosopher Aristotle to be Alexander’s personal tutor. During the next three years Aristotle gave Alexander training in rhetoric and literature and stimulated his interest in science, medicine, and philosophy, all of which became of importance in Alexander’s later life” (Web, Project of History of Macedonia). “In, 340, when Philip assembled a large Macedonian army and invaded Thrace, he left his 16 years old son with the power to rule Macedonia in his absence as regent, but as the Macedonian army advanced deep into Thrace, the Thracian tribe of Maedi bordering north-eastern Macedonia rebelled and posed a danger to the country. Alexander assembled an army, led it against the rebels, and with swift action defeated the Maedi, captured their stronghold, and renamed it after himself to Alexandropolis. Two years later in 338 BC, Philip gave his son a commanding post among the senior gener...

In fact, it is not easy that Mycoskie fulfills his dream. When he started up TOMS, he had no any experience or connection in the shoe business. He did not give up his dream and tried to solve the problems one-by-one. When they performed in giving the promised shoes to the children in need, they drove 18 hours and slept on the bus. Although there were many challenges in the whole journey, they were still brave and hardy to face those challenges. I admire their effort that the work is not only for themselves but also for the millions of children around the
Mr.Lauren had more dreams to fulfill. He chose the name Polo for his line of ties because the sport repsented to him a lifestyle of athletic grace and discreet elegance, an image of men who wore well-tailored, classic clothes and wore them with style. With that image in mind, Mr Lauren established Polo as a separate menswear company in 1968, producing a complete line of men's clothes. Using only the finest fabrications, Mr. Lares's menswear was distinctive, innovative, but always classic and refined. His suits blended the American Ivy League natural shoulder silhouette with the fitted shape and expensive fabrics of the best European custom tailored clothing. His shirts were all cotton, richly patterned and expertly made. This same care was, and still is, applied to every element of...
One of the most successful clothing brands in the world, Polo Ralph Lauren has built its success around more than just its line of luxurious designer clothes, but the company is one of the top marketing designers also. It was awarded “ Luxury Brand of the Year” in 2010 by the Luxury Daily. A company that was founded by a man named Ralph Lifchitz, better known as Ralph Lauren of the Bronx, New York in 1968. Since the age of 12, Lauren’s had a strong appeal and taste for looking classy. He would spend the money he earned working with his father after school, purchasing expensive suites. In his latter years, while working for a company called A. Rivetz & Co., Lauren began designing wide ties, the beginning of what latter evolved into the giant clothing empire known as Polo Ralph Lauren. The success of his designer ties caught fire quickly, retail giant Bloomingdales was the first company to endorse Ralph Lauren’s ties, but that ended quickly, when Lauren refused to narrow his ties, and stuck to his product line. Lauren’s success in the designer clothes business was unusual for someone who studied business at City College. In 1968, he founded the company Polo Fashions, a company that would later expand its market, and is among one of the top designer brands in the world today.
Louis Vuitton, a French designer and entrepreneur quickly made a name for himself in the fashion industry by becoming Napoleon’s wife “personal box-maker and packer.” At the age of sixteen, Vuitton and his family started the legendary workshop by creating travel trunks and the famous unpickable locks in 1859 (Louis Vuitton, 2015). As the legendary brand continues to remarkably exceed both sales and expectations, Louis Vuitton as a brand strives for pure distinction and exclusivity.
The MAKOM Matrix was made to emphasize the importance of having both a personal connection with Israel as well as proper knowledge about the state. In the article, “Mature Zionism,” Hanan Alexander introduces: “the tendency to relate to Israel naively in the institutions of American and Israeli Jewish life and to teach about Israel uncritically in American and Israeli Jewish schools.” I view my personal experience to be unique since I experienced both sides of the spectrum. I have attended Jewish day schools in America as well as in Israel. If I would have gone to Jewish day school in America for my whole life I would say my understanding of Israel reflects Alexander’s definition of mature Zionism. However, living and studying in Israel has enabled me to study the flaws in addition to the strengths of Israel. I fully support this idea of wrestling. This means that I
