As a business major student, I have learned the importance of writing and the essentials needed to communicate effectively. BA 105W is a course that has benefitted me significantly because now I have a better understanding of the different types of writings that a business utilizes. Professor Eaton focused on specific areas of the book that would assist us to have a professional writing assignment completed by the specified date. Ms. Eaton tried her best to assist us whenever we were unsure of what exactly she was expecting on an assignment. Considering the valuable information that professor Eaton provided us through out the semester, I will specifically be focusing on the importance of proofreading, journals, and good will messages.

time after writing the first draft is very important because proofreading transforms the way my final paper sounds in a more improved way. During the process of writing my assignments, I rarely proofread my assignments more than once because in the past I never went back to re-read before turning in my papers. This semester taught me to always go back to my assignments to avoid errors that could have been corrected in advance and receive points deducted. I felt that my common assignment grade was significantly affected because I only re-read it twice and did not notice the two incomplete sentences I had on my paper. From now on I will focus more on proofreading my drafts several times before submitting a final paper. Additionally, I will be concentrating on the benefits of the journals that we wrote occasionally, and the positive impacts that good will messages bring to an individual.
When we wrote journals in class I felt under pressured because I had to brainstorm in my head quickly before I started writing on my paper. I did not enjoy writing the journals at the beginning of the semester and thought they would not benefit in the long run, eventually I figured out how beneficial they were because it’s a way to improved ongoing mistakes. Every time we would write a journal, I could not wait for professor Eaton to return our papers back and review the comments to see what I had to improve on for my next journal. I concluded that for this summer I will write one journal once a week and then proofread it myself various times. Finally, I will be explaining how the good will messages made me realize how affective they are in many situations. “Thank you” messages make another individual feel appreciative when they receive a message stating that they are thankful for everything they have done for you. I will always consider writing these types of messages because it can make a change on another individuals
life. Professor Eaton has taught me different techniques that I will consider in the future specially proofreading, journals, and good will messages. In the future when I am assigned or asked to write a certain letter or essay I will emphasis more on proofreading my paper before submitting it. I will be writing journal entries more often to exceed my writing skills and being concise when writing them. Finally, I will show individuals that I am thankful for their work by writing “thank you” messages. On the other hand, I will also communicate with individuals by writing condolence messages or even asking for assistance. This semester, Professor Eaton was very helpful in explaining the adequate ways to write effectively in business.
Sam Dillion wrote “What Corporate America Can’t Build: A Sentence” for an audience of college students, employees and corporate people. In his article, Sam points out that companies are spending a lot of money annually on remedial training. According to Sam, the writing problem appears in e-mails, reports and texts. He is informing his audience to brush up on writing skills before entering the corporate world, in order to avoid remedial training. Companies like to hire employees with excellent writing skills but many of employees and applicants fall short of that standard.

I am more knowledgeable about invention, arrangement, style, and delivery, all in which create a masterful piece of text. A few examples, I have learned to organize and construct my thoughts and ideas clearer. I have been taught to use stronger transitions and focus more on the delivery and content of the body element of essays. Further, the instructions and advice I have received throughout this term have influenced my understanding of the purpose of writing. My outlook on writing has been modified by shifting my perception of writing from, writing to prove I am a good writer by perceiving it as using “fluffy” or BIG words to impress my audience. I grew to understanding that good writing’s purpose is to engage the writer by mind-striking ideas and arguments, which therefore will prove and title me as a “good writer”.

We are fortunate enough to have resources at Forsyth Tech such as computers and software. Its best to take advantage of those resources if we don’t have access to them anywhere else. There is no excuse to not completing the work. We were required to have two text book present in each class to use throughout the semester. Skwire, David and Harvey S. Wiener’s A Writer’s Reference with exercises and writing in the disciplines, references MLA, good word choices, different sentence styles and many other helpful tools to write an outstanding
In the past three months I feel like I have accomplished a great deal. As the semester comes to an end I find myself reflecting not only how I have survived the first semester but also what I have learned. The most important thing I have learned so far is how to become a better writer. I did not think it could really happen to me. I did not think I could handle all the work. I did not think I could actually become a better writer. Some how after all the hours of writing, and putting effort into the papers that I wrote this semester, I became a better writer. I did this because I concentrated on two very important areas, with the attitude of, if I could just become better in those then I would become a better writer. With help from an awesome teacher and a reliable tutor I have become a better writer by improving my skills in the areas of procrastination and content.
During the transition from a high school writer to a collegiate writer, my strength at understanding the basic principles of good writing has remained consistent. I grasp the ...
After completing my Hot Zone Analysis, I saw several problem areas throughout my schedule. One of the more difficult Hot Zone areas I have is that both ENC 1101 and MATH 0022C have quizzes on mostly the same days. I also had scheduled two online finals on the same day and several quizzes the week before them. This schedule would mean that I would have very little time to review before each one. Another big Hot Zone was my commitment to my church and attending all services offered; this cut back on my time able to study throughout the week.
In this reflective analysis of NAEYC Standard three, Observing, Documenting, and Assessing to Support Young Children and Families, I will first reflect on my growth, as an early childhood professional, during my course of study. Secondly, I will address my strengths related to the standard and discuss areas in need of further professional development. Finally, I will outline my goals for future growth and development. Early childhood educators demonstrate professional competence by understanding the role of assessment and the various methods of assessing student learning, including observation, documentation and standardized testing. These assessment strategies, along with partnerships with parents, can support students in their development and growth, by informing instruction and evaluating instructional practices.
In conclusion, this book was amazingly informative and very helpful. It is definitely something that every student should read before writing another paper. It lays out the dos and don'ts of the writing process; it is great way to improve your technique. This book went all the way from showing you exactly how to write certain types of papers, such as long messages and memos all the way to compare and contrast papers, to showing you how to write in detail with all papers. This book is definitely something that I would recommend to future students. Especially in business classes, or any writing classes for that matter. Writing is a huge part of communication, and this book helped with the fundamentals that many people lack but are essential in the long run.
During the course of this semester; the variety of writing styles and essays assigned to me in my communication skills class encouraged the development of my writing skills, as well as provided me with more self-assurance in my abilities. My writing, research, and presentation abilities enhanced through practice, determination, and the understanding I gained during this course. With every single writing assignment, I learned new innovative approaches and skills, which enhanced my abilities to improve my thoughts logically, enabling me to write more clearly, and to organize my papers more effectively. At the beginning of this semester; despite the fact that I already knew the terminology MAP: message, audience, purpose; I never really understood the significance of MAP. For this reason, my writing lacked clarity, organization, and my writings appeared less focused on the topics. As a result my research papers and essays did not flow as smoothly from one passage to the next. Furthermore, I was unaccustomed with the precise procedures used when writing an essay. For instance, my previous classes before college, although requiring a reference page, did not require me to include proper citations in my writings. After evaluating the quality of my writing toward the end of the semester, I recognized vast improvements in several areas of my writing. By concentrating on the beginning stages of my writings, I could distinguish ahead of time my audience and my message. As a result, my essays are clear, and I remain on topic. In addition to that using transition phrases efficiently also helps my writing to flow smoothly. The proper use of transitions makes my writings easy to follow from one topic to the next. I also learned that pre-writing...
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for all the efforts that you have invested in helping me improve my writing throughout this course. The exertions which you devoted in me did not go in vain. Throughout this semester, I have become more insightful in regard to the process of writing as a whole. Who knew that writing can be challenging yet rewarding simultaneously? Through many challenges encountered in this class and many exercises comprised in this course, I was exposed to new writing process, audiences, and I became more inclined to taking risks in the art of writing. As the semester took form, I came to find myself careworn by certain elements of the writing process. Unlike many writers, beginning to write,
Therefore, it is imperative that the plan allows sufficient time for revisions. Another critical strategy is to write with a clear sense of purpose and audience. Each academic field presents the college writer with specific writing styles and unique writing expectations. As stated by Johnson, “College level writing involves more than collecting information from sources and inserting information into your paper” (2009, para .... ...
Critical Reading and Writing in the Discipline (FOUN1019) is a yearlong course designed to improve and develop students’ cognitive, analytical and rhetorical skills. It thereby provides students with the requisite skills to truly join the scholarly arena and become academic writers. I enrolled in the FOUN1019 course with the assumption that I would become more proficient in English Language and a more eloquent communicator. I anticipated that this course would be challenging like many other courses ascribe to a first degree in Marketing; however, nothing could have truly prepared me for the arduous work load that it entails. I had to work assidously throughout the duration of FOUN109 to prepare coursework and conduct research which required
