This case examines the multiple duties that the President and CEO of Midvale Community Hospital, Terry Blaze, participated in throughout the day to ensure that the hospital is running effectively. Throughout the day, Blaze attends numerous meetings, which are directed towards improvements, changes, or concerns that will overall affect the hospital. During several of them, he is required to make final decisions however, he often directs other personnel to make that final judgment call. It was evident that Blaze wore many hats as the President and CEO of the hospital, which made it evident that his time was stretched thin. This could result in tasks going unfinished or completed incorrectly. Some mistakes that may be made may have a major negative impact on the hospital therefore it is pertinent for Blaze to ensure that he is using his time wisely.
Nearly every aspect of law enforcement has a court decision that governs criteria. Most court rulings are the result of civil lawsuit towards a police officer and agency. However, currently, there is no law that mandates law enforcement driver training. When it comes to firearms, negligence by officers has resulted in a multitude of court rulings. Popow v. City of Margate, 1979, is a particularly interesting case that outlines failed firearms training by an agency. In this case, an officer chasing a suspect during a foot pursuit fired at the suspect, striking and killing an innocent bystander (Justia.com, 2017). The court ruled that the agency was “grossly negligent” of “failure to train” (Justia.com, 2017). As a result, nearly every agency requires annual firearms training and has written policy concerning the same. Kelly was hired as an assistant language teacher (ALT) and had been working for six months. She was to work three days a week in the board of education office and two days helping with the English program. Her contract stated that her hours were Monday to Friday 8:30 AM to 5 PM. These hours were not the hours of the Japanese workers. Their culture had the employees working six days a week and rarely took time off. Kelly’s contract also had vacation and sick leave time given but stipulations as to when a doctor’s note was needed and the notice time given for time off for vacations.
